IT, ITES segment top FE hirers:
Ma Foi survey 20/07/05
Corporate Bureau
Hyderabad, July 19
Information technology and
IT-enabled services companies continue to be top hirers, with telecom taking
the third slot. Besides, Karnataka leads among the hiring states in the country
with Bangalore topping the recruitment scene, according to the findings of a Ma
Foi employment survey.
The top five states for the
quarter, the survey finds out, are Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh,
Haryana and Andhra Pradesh and the cities in big league include Bangalore,
Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Pune. The Ma Foi Employment Index (MEI) tracks the
pace of recruitment is at 1.39\% and the overall hiring is looking up in the
services sector, K Pandia Rajan, managing director, Ma Foi Management
Consultants Ltd, said while addressing reporters here on Tuesday.
The survey, conducted for the
period July-September 2005, is a quarterly one on Indian employment trends and
opportunities and claims to have undertaken a comprehensive study in the
organised sector which is contributing about 75\% or The top five states for
the quarter, the survey finds out, are Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh,
Haryana and Andhra Pradesh about Rs 4.8 crore on an average.
It covered as many as 2,092
employers across 17 industry sectors of which 95 were from the public sector
whereas 1,997 belonged to the private sector consisting of private and public
limited companies. "Sensing that there are no predictive index, our
informed survey points out that MEI is highest for private sector companies at 2.6\%,
0.01\% in public sector and 1.21\% in public limited companies," Mr Rajan
said.
According to Mr Rajan, small and
medium companies continue to remain bullish on growth and hiring. MEI is
highest for companies with turnover up to Rs 100 crore at 2.89\% and is lowest
at 0.67\% for companies with turnover in excess of Rs 1,000 crore.
Incidentally, it's a sober quarter for the healthcare sector. "It was
normal in this sector unlike a boost in the training sector," added Mr
Rajan.
The survey also speaks of
attrition and retention rates at workplaces. The overall attrition rate is
about 7.72\% over a year and it's highest in the ITES segment which translates
into 3.48 lakh employees.
In order to prevent this,
companies are resorting to pay compensation-linked scheme, better HR policies
and practices, improved work culture and employee development programmes, he
added.

Dear Editor,
Thousands of jobseekers read your
publication and they would be impressed if you tell them that
- 6 cities account for nearly 90\% of the jobs
- 10 "FUNCTIONS" account for nearly 70\% of
the jobs
But that would hardly help them
in their jobsearch.
They want to know, which CITIES
and which FUNCTIONS.
That would require researching /
analyzing dozens of jobsites.
Daily too – a humanly impossible
task if you are talking of analyzing 100,000 job-advts, everyday!
But we, at https://www.google.com/search?q=World-Wide-Jobs.com
can offer you such JOB MARKET ANALYTICS,
- dynamically generated and graphically displayed,
daily. (29 functions + 13 cities = 42 graphs)
- downloadable from our website for printing
- FREE and without any obligation, anytime and any
number of times, without revealing your identity
All you do is to click
Where Are The Jobs ?
No jobsite can offer such
ANALYTICS. But then we are NOT a jobsite !
Can we help you with any other
data? Just write to me.
With regards,
Hemen Parekh
