Leveraging timesjobs.com to our
advantage
we cannot forget that one of our
biggest problem has been,
"Which Company belongs to
which Industry?"
Unless this issue gets resolved,
job-searching by Industry drop-list (on Ind10ia Recruiter)
was im11possible.
A soluti13on seems to
be in sight!
This morning, while job-searching
on timesjobs.com, I found short-display (Job Summary) in following manner:

Exactly what we need!
And since this info. is based on
what that company itself has entered (while "Posting Job"), this data
is perfect/absolutely reliable.
All we need to do is to find a
spider which can download this info as

In which case email ID (in our
daily downloads) has to be the SAME for both records!
This will solve our problem that
timesjobs. are NOT displaying email ID of job-advertisers and therefore,
downloading of job advts from timesjobs is no use!

Our Biggest Problem
To quickly populate India
Recruiter/GR with 5 lakh resumes, our biggest problem is:
"What
"INDUSTRY/FUNCTION" to allot to each resume that we download from
Monster/Naukri/Timesjobs etc ?"14
Unless resumes are allotted
INDUSTRY & FUNCTION, they would remain unsearchable in IndiaRecruiter!15
And if these remain
"unsearchable", our partners will refuse to become our partners!16
The only way they can lure 17Company-HR
mgrs (to subscribe) is to be able to tell them,
"Dear HR mgr
if you subscribe to my website,
you can search 5 lakh resumes."
Hence, solution to our problem
lies in our ability to
- Download millions of resumes
from dozens of jobsites
- allot INDUSTRY/FUNCTION to each every resume
(offline, if reqd.).
- then upload these on GR/IR
- Send out "Invitation-Letter" to 750
(Websites) placement agencies.
- Simultaneously send-out promo-letter to 49300
employers/HR mgrs. to come, register on India Recruiter & start
- Posting Jobs
- Conducting Resume-Searches.
Now, I find that on Naukri,
when a candidate posts his resume, he is compelled to select
Current Industry Type

Current Functional Area
$\fbox{\hspace{2cm}}\;
These are mandatory / drop-lists.
So, each resume is definitely
linked to a specific Industry & a specific Function.
So, we have to Simply "map"
these Values with our own Industry &
Function fields.
Problem solved - as far as
Naukri is concerned!
NOW let us turn to timesjobs.com.
In their "Submit
Resume" form, they have mandatory fields as follows:
Functional Areas

(Within each Functional Area).
These "functions" can
be "mapped" to our functions. I don't see big problem here.
But,
timesjobs resume form has no
field for "Industry"!

Resume" form has no field for "INDUSTRY", although they
do have a field called
Job Category

This is a mix-up of
- Industry
- Function
So, if we download JobsAhead
resumes, we may be able to "map" some of these to our "INDUSTRY".
A partial solution!
So, what should be our ACTION
PLAN?
#1 Download all resumes
from Naukri; map these (offline?) with our own Ind./Function
fields & then upload on GR/IR18
As of 19$4^{\text{th}}$
Nov., Naukri claims to have "4 million Searchable Resumes"
So, even if we succeed in
downloading/mapping/uploading resumes from Naukri, at the rate of 50,000 per
day, we would have 21more than ONE million in one month!
Enough to launch GR/IR amongst
would be partners (750)
would be subscribers (of India
Recruiter) 49,300.22
Now that we have a "fixed
cost" broadband service this week, bandwidth (for
downloading/uploading) cannot be a problem.24
And as far as computers
are25 concerned, we can press all 30 m/cs into downloading-service,
after 7 pm everyday! Do you see any problem? If yes, I would like to know AT-ONCE,
because, I would like that this downloading/mapping/uploading starts, latest by
this weekend.
If there is ANY REASON,
why it cannot start as suggested, then I want to know on MONDAY 14th.
Otherwise, I will assume that it will start as suggested. No news is good news.
Incidentally, Monster/Naukri/JobsAhead
sites are HORRIBLE.
The worst part is that one cannot
even reach the many forms, unless one logs-in first!
This is BAD, VERY BAD!
I have discussed this issue with
Rejji on Friday and
told him that, on India Recruiter
(and, of course, on all partner websites),
Jobseekers & HR mgrs. should
be able to reach/access ALL forms (w/o) without login.
HR mgrs should be able to
- post jobs
- search resumes
WITHOUT, having to fill-in
Log-In first.
However, once-they-finish, an
appropriate message should flash, along with LOGIN box, saying, we
cannot display the results unless they fill-in Log-IN, at this stage. Tell them
(in message):
Dear HR Mgr:
Thank You for
- Conducting Resume Search
$\left.\begin{array}{l}\text{Conducting Resume Search}\\ \text{Posting
Jobs}\end{array}\right\}$ As applicable.
We will be happy to display the
"Search-results" (in case of resume-search) as soon as you enter your

I am sure, you can think-up of a
similar interesting message in case of "Post Jobs".3031
Incidentally, at the bottom of
our "Submit Resume" form, we have a button3233
"Save Resume & Go to
Job-Preference Form"3435
Why are we n36ot
allowing a jobseeker to SEE/VIEW 37this form, even if he has
not Submitted his resume? (We are showing this on Global Recruiter!!!). May be
you have some GOOD reasons which I fail to see!
I Simply cannot understand, why
should a candidate HAVE to first fill-in his resume, to just SEE this
form! Pl- change this at once.
Always remember that we must NOT
irritate a visitor to our website. He must be able to WALK-THROUGH
unstopped, to each & every corner of our website & be able to "Experiment"
to his heart's contents.
Otherwise, I consider India
Recruiter 1000 times better than Monster/Naukri/Timesjobs!
