RECRUITGURU
Flight
Deck
Dear
(potential) Subscriber:
Having
read Groundline and Courseware, you know how your business
productivity will go up manifold when you subscribe to Recruitguru. If
there are any doubts, our 30 day Free Trial will convince you.
But
you may still wonder:
How
does pay-per-use and pay-when-use actually work? Would I get to decide, who
(from my Company) will use what and when? How do I make subscription-payment?
How much have I used-up and how much money is there in my credit, at any point
of time?
Clicking
on links alongside will convince you that Recruitguru’s SELF-SERVICE is
completely transparent and YOU are in absolute control the entire time.
What
you see here are static pages but once you login as a Subscriber, they
become interactive — ready to obey your clicking commands!
Welcome
to the Wonderland of Recruitguru!

“Usage
Statistics”
Dear
Administrator,
If
you have authorized several executives to use Recruitguru, you would
certainly want to check up, from time to time, which executive is doing what
activity, when, and how much does this cost you!
On
this page, you can monitor such statistics — and you can view usage statistics
for:
- All
users (combined) or any one given user
- All
months (combined) or any one given month
- All
activities (combined) or any one given activity
- Any
combination of User / Month / Activity
As
an enlightened manager, you want to empower your executives without giving
up your responsibility to monitor!
“User
Activity Permission”
Dear
Administrator,
If
you have authorized several users to use Recruitguru, it is quite
possible that their “need-to-use” differs. Keeping in mind this “need-factor,”
you may want to decide which user can/will use which activity.
On
this page, you record/document your authorization by:
- Selecting
users — one by one — one at a time.
- Ticking
☑ in checkbox
against activities which, in your opinion, the user would need to use.
- When
completed, clicking on “Update Permission” link on top of the
table.
Of
course, you can reverse your authorization anytime by clicking again on the
checkbox, at anytime.
“Environment”
Dear
Administrator,
The
Environment Values shown in the box below are set / altered by Recruitguru
Support Team to enable you to get the best results.
But
if you have your own compelling reasons to change these settings, first phone
up our Mr. Sanjeev Tiwari (CH) 3-850-5802 (Rekhawe / Mumbai) and consult
him before making any change.
Any
unilateral change could result in severe functionality defects!
Once
Sanjeev agrees with your proposed changes, you may do so and then click “Update”
link.
“Tariff
Chart”
Dear
Administrator,
Here
is our promise of PAY-PER-USE!
No
need for you to shell out lakhs of rupees (or thousands of dollars) right
upfront for any legacy software installed on your server or on a huge annual
subscription to a jobsite, irrespective of:
- your
actual need-based usage
- the
number of features that you really need
If
the Tariff shown below appears insignificant (which it is!), then after just
one month’s usage, you will find that your recruitment-process productivity has
sky-rocketed!
And
— you don’t have to keep buying upgrade versions every six months!
“Subscription
Payment Form”
Dear
Administrator,
Please
use this form to enter Subscription Payment Details.
You
have the following options to remit money:
- Demand
Draft
- Cheque
- Wire
Transfer
- Credit
Card (As soon as our payment gateway is ready)
Obviously,
if you are effecting payment through Demand Draft or Cheque, you will need to
send these to our postal address through a Courier Agency.
When
sending, along with your covering letter, please do enclose a printout of this
form, duly filled in with full details.
Although
no paper instruments are involved in wire transfer or credit card-based
payments, it is advisable to send us an email (accounts@recruitguru.com)
incorporating the remittance details.
As
soon as your payment is realized, we will activate your account and inform you
through email.
“Fee

Dear

On
this page, you get to see the entire history of payments (subscriptions) made
by you, right from your very first payment — in the reverse chronological order
(latest payment details on the top).
Of
course, the payment details on this page are entered by us when we “realize”
the payment, and a unique PO ID (Pay Order) is generated with each update.
Please refer to this PO ID in future correspondence.

- In
case there are any doubts/questions, please feel free to see me —
preferably together.
- I
suppose Kartavya would prepare a Project Plan laying down who will
do what and when. We should monitor it weekly.
During
the next 3–4 weeks, Atthi will concentrate on:
1️⃣ Processing 2 lakh job cards
through Auto-Converter to create detailed, separate activity keywords and
1-55-5-index keywords for each vacancy name.
(To
help create Occupational Profiles for sectors like IT/ITES companies.)
2️⃣ Develop / Buy software for
downloading resumes — so that Viltan can do more meaningful work.

1️⃣ Flight Deck

2️⃣ Counter on Homepage:
“Aggregate

3️⃣ Speed / Accuracy
(Cumulative) Graphs
4️⃣ Facility for a
Subscriber to bounce back extracted resumes back to the concerned
candidates, asking them to self-update at our Hiring Section, after
directly logging on to a specified link on Recruitguru and uploading online
CVs.
Subscriber
should be able to bounce-back to a batch of candidates with just one click (Mass
Bounce-Back).
I
am seriously considering to offer this transaction FREE.
Our
Advantage →
When
thousands of candidates edit/update and upload their extracted resumes on
Recruitguru’s Private Databases, subscribers benefit directly.
“Optional
Access for Jobseekers”
A
subscriber may or may not want any jobseeker to be able to access his PRIVATE
database at will for the purpose of editing.
He
may think the integrity/security of his private database may get compromised by
granting such access to thousands of candidates!
So
any such solution of “Edit/Update/Upload” directly by candidates will have to
be OPTIONAL as far as the subscribers are concerned.
We
may consider providing a button on the Command Page (next to EXTRACT button)
which reads:
Automatically
forward extracted resumes to concerned candidates for
editing/updating/uploading back into my private database (as far as this batch
is concerned)
☐ Yes
☐ No
Note:
- This
service is currently FREE.
- One
of these boxes must be ticked for extraction process to start.
We
should provide a STANDARD EMAIL BOX where follow-up messages will appear
and remain online, editable by subscriber if so desired.
“Edit
Your Resume” (Template for Candidates)
Dear
Sir/Madam,
Some
time back you had sent us your resume against one of the vacancies advertised
by us.
Using
the services of Recruitguru.com, we have converted your plain email
resume into a structured, searchable resume. This will help us store it
permanently in our database and be able to search/retrieve it in future in a
matter of seconds.
It
is, however, possible that some fields could not be extracted or where data was
missing in your resume.
If
you want us to consider your application for the vacancy advertised — and also
to store it in our database for future reference — we request you to
edit/update your CONVERTED RESUME attached and then upload it back on Recruitguru.com
by as follows:
Step
No. 1
Step
No. 2
Step
No. 3
Please
ensure that the CAREER HISTORY section is filled in accurately before
uploading.

“Making
the Service Free: Strategic Rationale”
By
making this service FREE, I want to encourage our subscribers to use it
(i.e., click “YES” ☑),
all the time — even though it might impose considerable load on our web server.
Reason
is simple:
Assuming
that:
- All
subscribers will use this free service, and
- All
candidates will edit or upload their resumes,
we
will be able to carry out “data mining” of the Career-History
section of each edited resume.
This
will enable us to capture data and plot the following graphical profiles:
- Salary
Profile
- Designation-Level
Profile
- Tenure
(Length of Experience) / Years Profile
Once
we have data for 50,000 candidates, we will plot these graphs on our
server, dynamically, and then sell access for ₹10/- (viewing +
downloading combined).
HR
/ Recruitment Managers would simply love these graphs when they:
- Want
to compare any particular candidate with active population (sample size
~50,000)
- Want
to figure out:
- What
salary to offer to him?
- What
designation?
- Is
he a job-jumper or a steady person?
“Graph-Based
Analytics Monetization”
They
may want to compare any particular candidate with their own internal
employees (“Apple for Apple comparison”) before making any salary or
designation offer — so as not to “upset the Apple-cart”!
And
when you take into account all the variables we are capturing in Recruitguru,
viz.:
- Function
(42)
- Designation
Level (10)
- Edu
Level (19)
- Exp
(yrs) (10 slots)
- Age
(20 values)
- City
(200+)
- Industry
(10 sectors, etc.)
Then,
it is possible to generate millions of unique combinations of graphs (as
explained in my earlier notes)!
I
have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that, in the course of the next 12 months,
we will make 10 times more money out of these graphs than from
extraction or search!

Flight Deck
Neither
the lists nor the contents of various UIs are comprehensive/final.
As
time goes, we will need to add some more.
Even
now, you are welcome to add/delete/edit/modify/combine, if you feel that such
changes would make a subscriber’s life easy.
Making
a subscriber’s life simple, easy, uncomplicated, and intuitive is an
important goal.
But
we have to make a beginning — present to the subscribers, see their reaction,
then ask their feedback. In 6 months’ time, we will have enough feedback to go
back and improve.
“Flight
Deck Development Timeline”
In
the meantime, we have next 28 days to design/develop/deploy enclosed 28
UIs!
We
have to do this before the 30-day free trial period runs out on the
first batch of 58 companies who have registered.
There
are some UIs which they will need immediately upon completion of the free-trial
period. I have marked these (H) = High Priority — to be taken up on a
completed-first basis.
Similarly,
for us also, there are some UIs which are high-priority since we want to
capture the trace-back/usage statistics during the free trial period
(from day one of launch). Then only we can:
→ Know the “price of promotion” (subscriber-wise)
→
Predict who we can persuade to become a regular subscriber (based on free trial
period usage)
→ Work out the server load + fine-tuning
Long
before the free-trial period gets over (say by Oct-30), our payment gateway
must become operational to accept credit-card payments.
No
web-service can exist without this option.
But
at the same time, we know that…
“Subscription
Payment & Reconciliation Process”
Almost
all the Indian companies would prefer to make payments through cheque / DD,
which they will send to us by courier. (We have to incorporate this instruction
– to-do).
Even
then, a subscriber must enter these details online in the
subscription form (even if Sanjeev is sitting in front of the client).
This
is our only capturing screen to acquire all types of payments.
But
when cheque / DD are received and deposited in Recruitguru A/c in Saraswat
Bank by Sanjeev, there has to be an offline/backend reconciliation
with what the subscriber has filled up online in the subscription
payment form.
Please evolve the mechanism with the help of Sanjeev.
Remember
— some cheques will:
- not
get covered,
- get
lost on the way,
- get
rejected due to errors,
- or
remain “funds not available,” etc.
There
must be a mechanism to stop the services in such cases (unless we say we
will not activate the services in the first place itself unless cheque is
realized).
Maybe
initially we need to take such a stand — but, in any case, reconciliation
mechanism is a must, because
→ one part of the process is online,
→
second part is offline,
and
human intervention becomes necessary!
“Importance
of Billing & Reconciliation Mechanism”
I
wish to repeat what I have repeatedly said in the past, viz.:
Despite
a fantastic product and a huge waiting market — and a fabulous marketing team
and wonderful technical support —
A
company can and will go bust if it does not have in place, right from
the beginning, an airtight billing/accounting/recovery mechanism!
Without
the aforementioned reconciliation (between online data and offline data), when
I look up statement #4 (Subscription Received – Cash Flow), I may feel very
happy that right from launch, the system shows that between all subscribers
(cumulatively put together) I have received online payments amounting to ₹1
crore & 53 lakhs,
whereas
my Recruitguru Saraswat Bank A/c passbook shows a cumulative deposit of only ₹98
lakhs!
That
would be a disaster!
Remember
— software can go wrong or data can get out of sync — so anticipate it before
any human frailty strikes!
“Un-Reconciled
Payment Statement”
Dated:
28-09-03
So,
in Recruitguru Admin Console, I would like you to develop — with help
from Ashutosh — a
“UN-RECONCILED
PAYMENT STATEMENT”,
in
which I should be able to look up all unreconciled payments every day, along
with all details — including Age/Period for which a particular payment
is remaining unreconciled.
This
would be quite like a Customer Outstanding Statement, which can be
rearranged at will:
- By
period/duration for which outstanding (reverse chronological),
- OR
- By
magnitude of Amount Outstanding (in descending order).
Obviously
—
- ₹5
lakh outstanding for 5 days is far more important than
- ₹500
outstanding for 5 years!
Now
let us get cracking!!

“Postscript:
Homepage & Flight Deck Access”
P.S.
- Consider
placing the following links on homepage:
- Log-In
- How
to Subscribe
- Flight
Deck
- (This
is to arouse curiosity of visitors to click & see)
As
far as Subscriber’s Flight Deck is concerned, it is essential that any
casual visitor is able to click on any of those 14 links and get to see the Tables
/ User Interfaces drawn by me.
This
alone can convince him why he should subscribe to Recruitguru!
What
he will get to see will be only blank tables without any data.
(We
may even consider filling in some fictitious data to appear absolutely
genuine!)
But
when a regular subscriber clicks on any of these 14 links, he would obviously
do so after entering his User ID / Password.
This
will ensure that he will get to see each UI with his own data already filled
in.
