Eg: show me only those candidates who live in Andheri!

So, the user PULLS the info. thru "mobile originated (MO) SMS.

 

What info. gets delivered to the user?

 

Search results. show with 10 locations, a a zoomable map list of addresses and driving directions, and a click-to- call feature for contacting the business. by phone....

How does Google make money from this service? What is it's Revenue-Model?

 

The site does not Carry Google's standard local revenues advertising, ´service raises. but from business paying for prominent placement of their details on result-pages.

 

How do "businesses" (corporates), get to list their data. in Google's database?

 

→ In March (2005), it added a new tool, 5 that allowed. businesses to create, edit or delete their listings". The Google Local Business Centre lets businesses change their address, phone no. and other descriptive details in a free service.

 

If Google makes no revenue (other than "Sponsored" listing of search-results), then, what does Google gain?

 

the new service had no revenue-model and was intended to reinforce people's association of Google with finding them information. CONTENT IS THE KING

If you ever wondered, why subhash Chandra (of Zee TV) agreed to pay Dalmnia (of BCCI) Rs. 1400 Crores for exclusive rights to broadcast next cricket match series then above diagram will help.

In Fact, after paying Rs. 1400 crores to BCCI had anticipated to earn Rs.400 cores, by way of profits!

In a similar way, today's newspapers have. reported that SONY is purchasing MGM for $ 4.85 billion. I believe TIME-WARNER had offered to buy MGM for $3.8 billion.

 

Why?

 

Ans: MGM films "owns" 4100 past Holywood. (Exclusive intellectual property Rights). -and SONY /TIMES WARNER, are after this CONTENT.

 

They believe, in course of time, when Interactive TV becomes Common all over the World, they will be able to "SELL" this "CONTENT" (pay-per-use),for may be, of Course, a $ 10 billion long-shot gamble. You may call it, SONY'S VISION OF THE FUTURE!

 

BCCI Could have granted to Zee Non-Exclusive" rights, while simultaneously granting such "non-exclusive" rights to STAR ESPN NDTV / SUN TV etc. etc., also. But then, total may not add up to Rs. 1400 cr. So, BCCI figured, it was better to grant exclusive rights to ONE party.

On the other side, Zee Could NOT have got the broadcasting rights from anyone else!

 

BCCI has the MONOPOLY on Indian Cricket - the matches, the player selection,

everything including broadcasting of CONTENT.

So BBCI was able to dictate/extracts its "price", from this.

Same with MGM.

It had created these 4100 films, over last 70 years - and owned them.

When MGM around the time. did not even started making films - I was exist! born - TV

 

So, for MGM, (or for anyone. that time), there was no one else at way to FORESEE" the potential lying hidden/ trapped, inside these films.

 

But MGM held onto these films.

 

Of Course, storing 4100 films on Celluloid tapes (later on plastic tapes), would have required a very large air-conditioned, humidity-controlled Warehouse & lots of people.



But, for SONY, it would be. Very different story.

 

I am Sure, they will digitize these films and store these of DVDs, needing, on 4100 MASTER-COPIES a small cabin! + back-up copies 2/3 Strategically on located sewers ( one each in Japan, USA, Europe etc) in different geographic locations, to insure against fire, theft, Virus, earthquake, riots etc. etc.

 

What has all of these, got to do with our new venture WWJ ?

 

Plenty.

 

WWJ is also an AGGREGATOR of job-advts CONTENT

 

[-and, although we ourselves, do not create this content, nor do the jobsites.

 

Jobsites do NOT think that they OWN this content (good for us).

 

Ever, corporates, who post these job ads jobsites, do not think they OWN these on job advt. Neither jobsites, nor advertisers take any effort to store / preserve this content So what would it mean to us, if we were. to aggregate & store

 

 

 

10 MILLION job-advts in next 2 years?

Like an Owner of MGM might have said in 1933 I would say,

I DONT KNOW!

 

But I can assure you of one thing. If 2/5/10 years from now, if anyone has any need - whatsoever, any reason What-so-ever, to refer/find/lookup/study any of these job advts, WWJ would be Sitting on a goldmine of data, whose (the then) value, is difficult to visualize.

 

If we succeed in building up such a massive database (terabytes /petabytes), we would be of MONOPOLY OWNER of ONE content in the world -Whose intrinsic value, only TIME will tell.

Real Networks "asked for a licence from Apple but went ahead with development when there. was no response from Apple.

 

Obviously, lawyers of Real Networks must have examined the legal implications before allowing its Management to "go ahead".

 

 

Why did Apple make iPOD incompatible with songs downloaded from other Music sites?

 

Ans To create its monopoly, because, if songs downloaded from other Music Sites can also play on IPOD, then there is a real danger that may Record Companies A ® get tempted to tie-up with these other Music sites! - especially, if those other music-sites, offer them a better deal. as compared to Apple.

 

But since this is not possible, Record Companies have no choice except to tie-up with Apple ONLY! - or loose revenue.

 

In 15 months, I Tune sold download) 100 million songs @ 99 cents each. That is $99 million ($6.5 million/month) I believe Apple shares 15c-20e (from 99 Cents) with its "Content-providers" i-e. the Record Label Companies.

 

Why not, other Music sites follow Apple's example and develop/menu- facture/market their own. their own proprietary MP-3 players, compatible with their own music-sites?

Music sites are themselves virtual. war webstores, selling (download) digital. Content (ie. Music) - and have no expertise, --so-ever, what-s in developing/ manufacturing/markets. a HARDWARE. It is not their Core- competence" and, if they tried, they would fail miserably!

 

Apple heavily "subsidizes" "POD Sales, from its iTune revenue. So other music-sites too, would have to "play" the game by Apple's "rules"! They just cannot hope to play-and win - by Apple's "rules" !

 

Apple can suddenly drop 99 cents to 49 cents!

 

Record Label Companies, having already tied-up with Apple, would think twice before also tieing-up with other music-sites who, in any case, are not in a position to offer them a better deal than Apple! So, why take risk?

Q: What is Real Networks trying to achieve?

 

Aus: Break Apple's stranglehold - which Apple has acquired by making (POD "Incompatible" with songs downloaded From any other music-site..

This is why, even as we are preparing to Launch JAM the networks of mobile service. on providers, should start thinking about our we next delivery - channel to deliver job alerts.

Why?

DTH eliminates cable operators in distribution chain.

Today, main Value-addition by Callate operators is aggregation" of several Channels on one wire.

DTH Will deliver several "channels" to home directly, from a satellite, thr 184 dish antenna & a set-top box. No a an intermediary necessary.

In DTH, there would be no "under-reporting" of "Subscribers as prevalent in Cable System.

 

Similarity between CAS &DTH:

 

Both will charge some flat fee / channel/month. They may have a flat fee for a " "boquet" of channels - and also Some free channels. Both will require set-top boxes, but CAS needs no antenna.





 

Where does. OUR opportunity lie?

 

In order to compete with Cable operators (with or without CAS), DTH Would need to offer some. “Compelling" content which one can only get on DTH & not on cable.

In West such a content has been "ADULT" channels. which, of course, will not be allowed. in India.

 

In a job-starved Country like India, Where the number of jobseekers (both employed & unemployed) runs into millions, "job-advts" Content 1 could be such a compelling content!

 

I would not be surprised if in India, a 24-hour M " Jobs-channel" may not channel-with a become the most popular millions TV of unemployed "glued" to the Screen for hours together, in the hope of finding / coming job-advts across those which are must relevant/ appropriate for them to apply.

 

I Suppose this (observation) would be equally true of all developing / poor" Countries Where jobseekers far for exceed. the no. of jobs available.

Whether under CAS or under DTH, a channel would Cost the same per month ( Rs. 10/20/30), whether you view it for 1 hour/month or for 100 / hours / month I

They could "JOBS FOR YOU" start with a 30-minute program Computer Viewer- ship, and if proved popular, go on extending become it a gradually -to ultimately 12hour job-channel.

 

Pout this idea/ concept would "sell", only when we JAM has can show to them that become extremely popular on Mobiles!

 

If Zee/ Tata / Prasar Bharti, can see that then, millions that is have registered for JAM, a proof that

But BSNL's advantage is that it has been sewing /servicing these 44 million landline Subscribers, all over India, for more than 50 years! They already have an established infrastructure, whereas Reliance. has to build it from the scratch.

 

If we succeed in

Dec 04→ first supplying JAM to BPL/ Tata / Bharti, etc.

June 15→ next supplying JAM to BSNL

Dec. 05 → next supplying JAM to Atlas BSNL JV

 

then, I suppose Reliance would have to fall in line. come to us 1-both for their cellular network & their interactive. TV network.

DON'T LET THEM CATCH-UP!

 

 

By launching WWJ, we may have temporarily "pre-empted" the competitors (Monster / Naukri / times jobs/ Job street etc).

 

But they our are bound to react /respond to "threat" - possibly by coming-up with something similar to JAM. It is difficult be to original ent never too difficult copy"!

 

And these jobsites have "deep pockets"! Most have received huge VC Funding. Most are moderately profitable too. so, resources Cannot be their problem.

And if their "Ego" comes in their. way, One of them could easily launch a new site (a new name) and start downloading / aggregating jobs from the rest!

 

Whether someone goes this far or not, we cannot afford to take them lightly. Like a good Chess player, we musto anticipate the next move (-and the next too!) of the opponent and be ready with Pour counter-strategy.

 

What can we do ?

 

By keeping up our aggressive offensive We must keep them perpetually on "defensive" This is quite like a boxing match! In rapid Succession, you have to shower your opponent with punches, so that he

Remains "dazed and unable to "recover"

 

We shall do this, by adding in Succession, series of features a statistics, for the benefit of the member who register on WWJ.

How could a MSP One day tell his subscribers, to go to WWY 2/3 months and register and they down the line go back and tell them. to now "re register" on XYZ jobsite ? Such a confusing Signal would be a disaster!

 

Therefore, after initially launching JAM on ensure that BPL Network, we must it becomes so popular amongst BPL subscribers that a large no of them register.

 

If we can manage 1 lakh BPL Subscribers to register on whit within ONE MONTH, that would clinch the deal

 

The Signal, would be loud & clear, not only to BPL management on the ent also to all other MSPs, who are, as yet, undecided / sitting fence and weighting their "optrons"!

I don't think any jobsite Carries "Copyright notice. Even if some sites do, I don't think, their notice,

specifically, "forbids Copying. According to Hr. Pavan Duggal, such a notice has to spell this out, explicitly.

 

The very fact that jobsites provide "Email to a Friend" link below each Job-advt, it is clear that they want users to " "copy" these advts.!

This morning I looked-up availability of interesting significant URLS enclosed and came up with list. The better sounding. ones are all taken

NO Indian jobsite has such a large job-advt database -individually.

 

Monster Naukri | Jols Ahead will never think of downloading job aduts from. each other’s. Websites! That would be worse than Suicide!!

 

So in the absence of an AGGREGATOR website (like www. Direct employers.com in America), Indian jobseekers, are forced to visit all the major jobsites. -and that too daily. There is no "ONE STOP SHOP" available to Indian. jobseekers.

 

If some Indian jobsite were to become such a "ONE STOP SHOP, I think, jobseekers, in future, will only. Visit that jobsite & no other! If they can find ALL jobs advertised on Monster / Naukri Jobs Ahead/ Job street etc- on

I presume (pl. Correct me, of I am wrong). that once launch our well service, every email resume received (online or offline would be "extracted", then converted Image Builder" version

 

and

then uploaded on. our website. Every single resume.

Then only, jobseekers can log-in (using their password) User ID and "Edit it online.

 

This (ability-to-edit-online) feature is very Important, because nearly 100% of the Image Builders uploaded, would contain a BLANK "career-History" section!

 

And I suppose, we would want the jobseekers to login of course, enter this data online (-and be able to download too).

 

Now, it is quite possible that a job seeker may log-in 2 edit once-a-year.

In fact, we will build an automatic reminder system, which would remind him to do so.

It is also quite likely that the candidate. has changed his job when he logs-in edit/update.

 

But in Image Builder, there is provision for only 4 jobs-history (including current)

so now what can Concerned Candidate do? how can he edit? Career History section.

Does he re-enter everything all over again?

OR

he Can go on adding any no. of jobs – (career-history), since. he is ONLINE and software does" not restrict him? Then again, If ONLINE, he can enter even 15 job history, “what would happen, when he tries to

email his updated Image Builder?

Whereas I appreciate that Image Builder may have restrictions "OFFLINE, we must ensure that, ONLINE there are no restrictions (on no. of job-history), because, for each candidate, we want to capture. entire LIFE-HISTORY from birth onwards! Pl-
