They won’t to do any of the above unless they feel it is fun and then want to share this fun with their friends.

There is no denying the fact that to an individual jobseeker who registers quality / relevance of job alerts is quite important. For him it is this quality relevance which would differentiate JAM from conducting dozens of jobserches on jobsites which throw up hundreds of irrelevant jobadvt on his screen.

But that is provided he registers! But how do we get him to register in the first place?

How do we get thousands to registers in the first place?

That is where the QUANTITY (no) of job alart, comes into picture.

Before a person registers, the first thought that crosses his mind is, Will I get ANY jobalarts at all? How do I know? What is the guarantee?

So far, we have nothing on our website, that would remove this doubt from the mind of a potential jobseeker!

Remember, what is his experience so far?

He goes to any jobsite, entershis “Search-Critria” and clicks SEARCH and Voila!

He sees, dozens of job-advts in front of his eyes within seconds (relevant or otherwise!)

But here is an undeniable proof of the sites ability to throw-up deliver jobs! He is convinced jobsites do not have to bend backwards to prove this point.

But, on WWJ there is no job search there is no way for him to know that there will be any jobalerts atall!

It is, as if , WWj is telling him, You have got to believe me because I AM SAYING SO! When I say, you trust me?

This is in sharp contrast to what he is used to Hear from other job sites, which proclaim from roof-top,

come One! Come All!

Job search is free.

We have millions of Jobs.

Test & find out it all we charge you nothing to apply online.

This competition means we will need to convince potential JAM member, that when they registers thay WILL / SHALL get many Job alerts.

And I feel the only way to convince them is to host a page like enclosed. Each frame will change once in 10 seconds enough for him to read the SMS and the fig.

Obviously we will show / display only those jobs where both nos are respectable.

And these alerts need not be yesterday’s only. Initially these could cover last 10/15 days if we do not have enough showing big no when we have plenty we can reduce to yesterday’s alert only.

And to begin with you may even fictitions / cooked up figs! Remember that what we are attempting is to create.

 

 

 

A SELF-FULFILLING PROPHESY!

Once jobseekers see such respectable / large no and get impressed, they will start registering in thousands! By that time you would have also relaxed some of your match-critenas so that would actually start generating large no of job-alart! That is what we want. Then there will be no need to enter / display fictious figures!

Pl. Remember at this stage Quality of job alerts is not critical it is the QUALITY which is critical inn order to convince the job seekers to register in the first match -criteria later.

We have to somehow, convince the potentials that, already a large no. are benefitting and if they don’t join they will get “Left Out”!

Downloading & Creating a structured database of Job Advts..

 

During last 2 months, Samata had been. Downloading from Naukri. I believe about 120,000 downloading from been downloaded so far. ( we also have. 30,000. earlier sent by Sajida),

 

Ocassionally Inder / myself helped download ads. from Monster India, whenever we found time. Altogether, Aug in Sep, we probably managed to download. 3000 job adit day. - no more.

There were problems of

 

Internet Connection bad / not at all.

 

Samata had. some other urgent work..

 

Now that we have Settled down Comfortably new office, with a 512 kb line, we must take up this job. priority on night eamest...

 

our target should be 10,000 job advts / day

 

This will require should be 2 persons / 2 machines.

Vitthal should be one of them.



 

And, if Deepa Cannot be spared full time. for this any work, & I suggest you take any temporary / contractual" SSC boy for Rs. 1500 p.m

 

His target must be 5000 / day (same as for Vittal).

 

I would like this arrangement to be implemented & stabilized by next week and i.e. buy 21th Sept. That is enough time to a new PC (bare configuration)..

In internet world (of e-commerce), if you are not One step ahead of competitors.. then you are two steps behind them.

 

In my recent note on "Positroning of Recruitguru", I talked of

 

 

Carving out a brand new territory – totally different from that of Monster Naukri etc..

 

Create a new "Industry--standard" concerned as far as Image Builder is concerned.

 

Set our own "rules" of the game.

 

not to our take our battle to Monster/ Not Naukri's territory.

 

Create a whole new set of "Allies/ Affiliates Partners" Creation either for Content- or for delivery of our content




 

Enclosed chart & news cuttings must be read in this perspective (of wanting to differentiate Recruit Guru from the likes of Monster / Naukri).

 

Today Monster/Naukri as emails are delivering job advts as emails over internet / desktop - once a day (?)

 

Then the recipient logs into Concerned website, browses the job advt. & may apply online" if he has already deposited his resume earlier.

 

This is the TRADITIONAL method used by all jobsites - including 3pjobs.com at in past. In fact, we were the pioneers in India !

 

If by now, 3p jobs.com had grown even half the size of Naukri / Monster, then we would think ten times (not just twice). before jettisoning / ditching this method of job alert!

 

It would be too much of a risk to make a Sudden Course-Correction / to switch over to an altogether different/new

Fortunately for us, 3pjobs.com remained an insignificant player amongst Indian jobsites. All those who came much later, over to 3pjobs.com (in terms of no of resumes revenues etc)

 

So much so, that some 8/10 months ago, we decided to remove all Candidate related Customer related "Services" from 3pjobs.com

(Job Posting / Resume Posting/ Job Search Resume Search).

 

So 3pjobs.com not even in the running (by self-volition) as far as Monster | Naukri etc

are concerned. !

 

So Recruit Guru does not carry any •historical baggage", any legacy hand-bound by past. It is as far as what It is not did in the By clean break (initially) and outside world is concerned, there no "connection" between 3pjobs & Recruit guru.

 

This gives Recruit gun a lot of "freedom" of movement /action/ innovation/experimentation.

 

•Recruit Guru does NOT have to worry about any on fall out" (of such an experimentation) any existing "customer "base", because it has no existing Customers!

 

And that experiment should be such that it enables Naukri and Recruit guru to leapfrog Monster/ Care-out a Virgin territory.

 

And I firmly believe that experiment is to deliver job-alerts as SMS on cell-phone - something which Monster/Naukri do not seem to have attempted so far (but tomorrow, they can!)






In the enclosed chart, I have put forward my arguments in favour of this proposal.

 

A cell phone job-abort has an element of Instant gratification" -no matter where you happen to be! You are not tied to a desk, an internet connection. You are not tethered by a wire.

 

An executive may find it Inconvenient his "private mailbox" during office hours, but it is quite different with. a SMS. It is So Convenient and so "private" (even if you are sitting in front of your boss treating). or with 5 colleagues in a

 

And an SMS does not cause you inconvenience, even if you are travelling

 

And Cell phone as a "medium", as "Internet Access Device" is going to grow. 10 TIMES as fast as a PCI-Soon 20 TIMES!

 

we Can ill-afford to ignore this device -and this delivery mechanism - Where 4 tale communications are going CONVERGE. to

 

It is not going to be a pc put a cell phone, which is going to be the device. of "CHOICE" for the young generation. We can ignore it at our own peril!

 

So in next 4 years,100 million Indians would want an Useful Content delivered to them on their cell-phones

 

and,

 

Some 8/10 national SERVICE-PROVIDERS would desperately broke for start an useful. content, from "Content providers!

 

And, if Jot-Alert" is such an USEFUL content, which cell phone owners want and Service-providers want, then Recruit Gum Is ideally placed to deliver it!

 

And the obvious implication is that there.100 million Cell phone owners, would have

to first SUBMIT then 200ume to Recruit Guru!

 

And if Job-alert delivery is coupled with "Apply On-line" feature, there is every believe that these 100 million persons would submit their resumes.

 

If 50% are self-employed, that still leaves 50 million!

 

And these are the Resumes that we will "sell" (@ Rs. 10/= each) to our Corporate Subscribers! At one download/year for each resume, this means Rs. 50 crores/year!

If cell-phones are being pressed into service by.

We have already downloaded. 130,000 job advts from Monster Naukri in last 2 months.

 

In Sept/Oct, I propose to raise this figure to 300000 job-advt & keep downloading @10,000/day from various Corporate-sites).

 

 

We already have "AUTO-CONVERTER" Software to Create a structured database of these job advts (to facilitate matching" resumes with Jobs).

But I wrote this before Internet / Telecom revolution had reached the shores of India.

 

But 9 later, things years We Now are looking up! have 3.5 million internet connections (- but quite likely 30 million email IDF.) and over 6 million Cell-phone connections, growing at 2 million/year.

 

There are, also 80 million TV sets, of which, some 40 million have cable connections (int quite likely 30 million email IDs) all of which, will get a set-top box in next 3/5 years.

 

 

 

 

ICE (Information - Communication-Entertainment) is poised to be the fastest growing industry. Most of the investment is being made. in this sector.

 

Telephone Companies. diversifying into providing are Internet Services - but giving "connectivity" does not eam much revenue. It has become a "Commodity business or, will soon become.

 

And cell-phones lines (connections) will grow many times are faster than landline connections. Cost per much cheaper (to install). Call phone prices. dropping too.

 

Within next 4 years, teledensity will go up. from 5/100 to 9/100 of population, Cell-phone tariffs are dropping (although lowest in the World).

 

In last 3 months, average usage of Cell phones has gone up from 400 minutes/month to 700 minutes/month nearly highest in the world! - Everyone owns his/her voice. can deliver to another cell phone

 

 

But very few (only Companies) have DATA, which can be delivered over cell-phone.

 

Cell-phone companies are desperately searching for DATA CONTENT, in order to differentiate from competitors.

 

If they cannot manage to get some competitive.

 

 

 

advantage thru such differentiation, they would face. tough time.

 

And this is our opportunity.

 

Enclosed tabulation shows what "content", we can make available to Cell phone Companies, which Could be of great interest to cell-phone users.

And, of course, We must not have an exclusive tie-up with just one cell phone Company. we will offer similar content. to all cell-phone companies...

 

And let them decide whether they wish.

This is a proof that cell phone co are desperately looking for useful content providers in order to improve their revenues.

I strongly believe that delivering Job Alerts on cell phones (as SMS) would not only increase the usage by existing subscribers but would even bring in new subscribers for a cell phone co! A Jobless engineer (and there are several millions!) who cannot afford a Rs 30000/- PC to receive email Job alarts, would readily buy Rs.3000/- worth cell phone which sends SMS Job Alart! We could easily earn Rs. 2/3 crores per year from this application!

A "job-akrt" sent to a mobile is a non person-to-person" value added SMS Service. owners pay approx. Rs. 1.50 per message. of this amount. T Rs. 0.50 0.75 is paid to "Content Provider" by the concerned mobile-Service s).

 

Company. so, if only I lakh jobseekers Sign-up for Such a service, we (as content provider) can rake-in Rs. 75000/ DAILY! service-provider get the same amount. And, today, with G3 (GMS/G CDMA), Service-providers are desperate to get some killer-content ! They are all making huge losses & would want to grab any straw! This alone con give us an annual-revenue of Rs. 3-4 crores ! what do we need to implement this fast?

                                                                            Most Wanted.

 

"To be wanted" is a strong human emotion. It gives depth/ meaning to existence. "Self- esteem" of a "person depends upon how much he is wanted I how much he is in demand.

 

Devoid / deprived of this feeling (of being wanted) a person builds up all negative emotions (anger/ frustration / jealousy / hate etc).

 

But, when this feeling (of being wanted) is strengthened/re-inforced, a person builds up positive emotions ( Love / Sympathy / Helpfulness).

 

The feeling of being wanted, inflates a person's ego increases his "self esteem".

 

To make success, Global Recruiter a resounding we must interweave strong emotions into its fabric.

I Suddenly realize that "I am wanted / I am in demand / I am sought after".

 

All, I need to know that on this 25th of May 2003, there are as many as 17 jobs (from 17 companies) which match. my resume so well (what percentile. match ?), that I could simply walk in.

 

in case any of these 17 Companies and simply land a Job!

 

Such knowledge, would boost my ego l my "Selfrestan" to the sky!

 

I am good enough to be" wooed" ! - And if the "Suitor" working a me is handsome (read a large / reputed company), then a am in the seventh heaven !!

 

And, it is wise) emotion to So arouse Simple/easy (technology- such a powerful in the mind /soul of a jobseeker.

 

We already have a " "job-alert" Software, which matches.

And this match-making takes place, once- a day, on our jobsite.

 

All the new fresh job advts, being posted during the last with 24 hours are "matched" all the resumes in the database, and "job-alerts" get emailed to each resume-owner.

 

I believe, the software takes into account only the "incremental" job-advts. being. posted on our website, during last 24 hours. This was a Sensible thing to do, in order

 

not to overload the server

not to flood the candidates with.

This is like Mr. A.M. Naik (CEO-LAT), first thing every morning, looking-up the Share-price movement of L&T, TV/ Newspaper / Website etc etc. on I bet he gets this' "feed" on his table (or on his mobile - more likely), every half- an-hour during the trading-hours! All CEOS/CFOs do!!

 

We, too, could plot such a graph, for each & every resume." each & every day,

without any problem

 

Today plotting such a graph would look ridiculous, because, I suspect, we have no more than on our website !





 

 

 

 

But, starting this week, we will start downloading single job-advts. posted on Monster / Naukri/ Jobs Ahead / Job-street / Job ads etc. etc. and EVERY DAY. (Using MYRIAD).

 

So, by end June, we may be, daily downloading 500 job advt. That is

10000/20000 every month.

So even if we retain keep these job advts "Live" on our website for just ONE month, we would have at any given point of time, 10000/20000 jot advts.

 

And hopefully, by end June, Abhi may have managed. to Convert (Reou Mine) &.upload on our website 100000 email resume

 

So there will be DAILY MATCH-MAKING between

 

-100000 resumes

&

20,000 job-advts

& "No. of Matches" for each resume.







Plotting these graphically everyday, for 100.000 Candidates may pose, Some load, which we Overcome. can -processing-

 

We could also think of doing all these "match-making "" OFFLINE plot the

graphs offline.

 

Then, only upload the graphs (daily?) on our web-sewer based. Resume Database.

 

So of each graph becomes -part & parcel.

Afterthoughts

 

"Demand Graph" must not be made a a part of Butterfly version. It will prove counter- productive.

 

No recruitment manager would want to hire a person with who goes such a huge EGO - around shouting, Look here, I am in such a great demand I" Including "Demand Graph" into Butterfly version would Create precisely such a feeling.

 

11 So, we reach. Condusion that the a "Demand Graph" may be an excellent ego-booster / Comforter for a jobseeker, but it is not to be. shared with potential employers.

 

But, of course, you would want to share the Demand Graph with your friends 2 colleagues. Afterall, your esteem lies in their eyes! And you want to "Compare notes" with them by looking at their Graphs. Demand

 

And would it not be a matter of shame, If they - your friends / Colleagues - do NOT have their OWN "demand-graph" ? Unthinkable! So, the virus spreads & cult develops.

→ Average of 7 days & plot a "WEEKLY CHART

or

A new toy" is no good for a child unless, neighbouring children can see it -and Envy" the child !! - and want to have Similar one of their own.

 

Candidates may log into our website & View, large DAILY graph-ent only. a weekly or monthly Version can be downloaded cell phone screen.

 

I suppose, we can start OFFLINE experimentation, as soon as Deepa manages to download 1000 job advts from various sites a using MYRIAD.

This is further to my note. The Second wheel of yesterday.

 

My detailed thoughts on this subject a are jotted down in the margins of chapter on" Luck", from book DoCoMo (copy enclosed). You may find it useful to just glance thru the underlined paras & my notes.

 

One technical point, which I am unable to understand is,

 

Do we really need to tie up with cell- phone service providers, in order to deliver job alerts. over cell-phones (GSM / CDMA type) ? If cell- Owner Can Simply log into our website - using internet-connect feature of GSM/CDMA phone- then how does Service provider come into the. picture? Once a customer gets connected to internet Cell phone service-provider has no SAY in the matter, as to what the user accesses (which site) & what he downloads". There is no doubt, all of the above are of interest to Some-or other "Target /Niche Group" of users of cell-phones.

 

But, getting and holding onto - "job" is a lasic as ROTI/KAPADA/MAKAN"!

 

This "interest" (category) Cuts across, all the as above-stated "target" groups.

 

Soon, Cell-phones will be owned, even by "jobless" youth.

 

Now, in fact, if we Could Convince the Cell-phone Service - companies, that their, “Subscriber-Case" Can dramatically expand if they start delivering their Job Alerts" over cell-phones, then there is a Pretty good chance that they will jump at this (novel) idea!

 

Tell them that 50 million educated unemployed youth are registered. With country's 900+ Employment Exchanges!

 

 

If Bharati to Send BPL or Reliance, manage to send Job Alert" emails over their Service, millions of educated youth, will start subscribing to their a Service - over

"Prepaid card! Tell them, over 2 million jobseekers are registered with Indian Jobsites!!

 

And, We are prepared to give offer this service/content to Bharate/BPL/Reliance "FREE"!

 

We don't pay them (the Cellco!) anything to their deliver our "Job Alerts", to Subscribers! - No way !!

 

Cell co are, their subscribers, message. That in any case, charging Rs. 1/= for each SMS. is their "Revenue Model" -and they will continue with that, in any case.





 

But,

 

We are" obliging" them (cell co!) by giving free CONTENT (even at the cost of loading our server).

 

And that, they will leverage our (free) Content to boost their revenues by Vastly expanding their subscriber-base!

 

Then again,

 

the cell-company, which jumps for our FREE CONTENT OFFER" first, will gain

tremendous COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE, its Competitors. It will get the FIRST-

MOVER advantage.

 

I suggest you / Nirmit speak to Some Cell Cos & show them demo of our RESUMINE /RESEARCH as well. Nirmit knows CEO of One Mumbai-based Cell co.

(Jabs Across World Summary)

 

Some 2/3 years back, I sent a note to Cyril on JAWS. Please borrow from Rajeev & read it.

 

Enclosed flow-chart diagram of how JAWS is a schematic is supposed to work. Implementing JAWS will require a combination of technical & marketing expertise, but it more. technical than marketing. So let us all Concentrate on first solving all "Technical" problems that we would face in JAWS. Inder is already exploring the possibility of "Subcontracting" of the downloading of job advts from. Various jobsites.

 

Next, Inder will. "Composer" tool the premises of examine, if the Can be installed at the "Subcontractor, So that he does the total job of Converting each job-advt (using Composer) into our (3P) standard. Job Advt. format. If the party is completely "trustworthy", may we give him the even passwords to directly upload the job. advts (including ours), on various websites. his own.

 

Abhi / Vikram will have to develop Software ( on our web-server) which a will automatically -and continuously- prepare the shown in Job Advt. Summary, enclosed flow-chart. As shown in enclosed JWW Chart

 

You will asking you the notice that, here, I am to reveal the identity of "Advertising Company" - (which, don't do, on our we website, so far).

 

The reason is Simple.

 

If we want people (ie. jobseekers) to believe that this is a "real" / "actual" job advt., they must see the name of the advertiser. This alone will inspire Confidence. Mentioning the "Source" of each advertisement, would further boost this confidence but I am not sure of its other (negative) implications at this stage, so "Source" We will NOT mention the at least, at This stage.

If we start bombarding", unwilling people (with JAWS), we will suffer tremendous damage in the long run There will be a negative "backlash" & both, the jobseekers & recruiters. will shy away from us! our grand vision. (of pervasiveness) will Collapse!!

 

And the above-mentioned remarks, Cover, even They have become existing Affiliates". our "affiliates" for a specific purpose (-as explained on our website).

 

Now, if we want them to accept, JAWS Summary, we must get their consent once again.

 

It will be Inder's responsibility to obtain such "Consents" from all parties/ persons, whom we are targeting as potential "recipients" of Jaws.

 

Inder will draft a "Series" of "Covering- letters/ Offer-letters" - each designed for a specific TARGET GROUP.

 

Each offer letter will sharply bring out the advantages/benefits" that the recepient will receive drafting past the derive by agreeing to JAWS Summary. Before, Inder will go than all the "Communications" Sent by me in the past to jobseekers / recruiters & (especially) affiliates. available on our These are Intranet.

This RADIO TV GUIDE today's Bombay Times. is picked-up from

 

Even though, this gives a lot of publicity to the concerned TV channels/Radio stations, do you think they have to "pay" Bombay Times to publish these details? I seriously doubt. Reason is simple.

 

This is, in the nature of Readership Service. people buy the newspapers, only for this. So, if a newspaper wants to increase its Many Circulation (No. of Copies sold), then it has to provide this service. And only when a newspaper has a Large Circulation, can it attract, other "paying" advertisers. So, it recovers elsewhere, the cost of "Real Estate (media- Spas Tiven away FREE. !
