HOME PAGE REDESIGN

Regi / Ansu

cc: Kartavya → Abhi → Sanjeev → Raju

Redesign of Homepage & Inner Pages

  • The existing pages appear as shown in ANNEX.
  • Apart from the links already provided on homepage, we need to make provision for following links on the homepage itself:
    • Flight Deck
    • Guest Trial
    • Compare Contract
    • DOs & DON’Ts
    • Press
    • Registration List
    • Case Studies
    • Accuracy / Speed Graphs
    • Candidate Validation Counter
    • Summarized Grid
  • In enclosed notes, I have mentioned the rationale behind each link & why it has to be on homepage.
  • Adding these links would require redesign of not only the homepage but all inner pages also.
  • Although we may add the new/proposed links over a period of next 6 months (in stages), what is important is to develop FINAL LAYOUT (both homepage as well as inner pages) ready for those additions.
  • Layout does not have to be changed every time.
  • This is not a ‘high priority’ item.

When you redesign homepage, you should make provision for following links on homepage:

a. Flight Deck

When someone clicks on this, he will be taken to a page which contains:

  • 8/10 links of Subscriber’s Admin Tool
  • A write-up

When he clicks on each of these 8/10 links, he will be taken to respective pages (STATIC pages) which will tell him (instruct, show, display by columns/tables) what kind of data is being stored, what one can do, and what kind of STATISTICS can he see if he were to become a 30-day free trial-walla (3) OR a regular subscriber (after 30-day trial).

These 8/10 STATIC pages will tell a potential subscriber how Recruitguru:

  • gives him OPTIONS (Activity selection / undo)
  • has TOTAL CONTROL POWER (Monitoring)
  • is completely TRANSPARENT (No hidden agenda)
  • is a truly SELF-SERVICE WEBSERVICE (where incidentally we have our own tech/customer support load)

I believe these STATIC pages to act as a very powerful marketing tool.

b. Guest Trial

This link on the homepage will permit any stray/casual visitor/surfer to be able to:

  • Convert 5 resumes (one at a time)
  • Conduct 5 searches
  • Compose 5 job-ads (when Job-Ad is ready)

A visitor will be able to do this without registering for 30-day FREE TRIALno questions asked!

Of course, the resumes which he processes should get added to our DEMO DATABASE.

As far as 5 searches are concerned, the RESULTS-DISPLAY will only show 5 results — although a message may flash that “231 resumes found; however only top 5 being displayed. To see all, register for 30-day Free Trial.”

Obviously, the visitor will have no private/personal resume database. So by default, several visitors will be conducting on DEMO database only.

Similarly, anything he may somehow do — converting, job-ads, etc. — will NOT get broadcast! This I will explain in person.

The whole idea behind Guest Trial link is as follows:

We, ourselves, would want some eminent / opinion-makers to conduct trials & then give their opinions / feedback.

These persons will be very senior / influential — and quite tricky “ego-ists”!

We cannot possibly ask them to register — they would consider that as some sort of insult!

Such persons could be:

  • Authors who write books on e-recruitment (e.g., Michael Foster of Recruiting on Internet)
  • Journalists / Editors of technical / internet-related newspapers / magazines — HR / Personnel-related magazines / journals. (We can request them to review our web service & publish articles — e.g., Mr. Malhotra, Chief Editor “Human Capital,” is writing about e-recruitment in Jan.)
  • Senior HR Consultants (Dr. Om Kaul.)
  • Senior HR Executives (e.g., Dr. Santhip Misra.)
  • Senior Company Executives (V.P., H.R.D. / Adm. etc.)
  • Office bearers of professional institutions such as CII / PCCI / ASSOCHAM / DSCCI / NIPM / National HRD Network / Mgmt. Associations etc.
  • Executives of MEDIA CHANNELS such as TV / Mobile Phone Service Providers.
  • Principals / Professors of Institutes teaching MBA in HR discipline (IIMs / SPJain etc.)

Once any person can process a resume on Recruitguru WITHOUT having to register, we can expect even persuade by mass emailing to 2.1 lakh jobseekers whose email IDs we have — to click on GUEST TRIAL link on homepage and then process his OWN resume.

And if he also adds/completes it 100% online, we will INSTANTANEOUSLY (on-the-spot) show him his:

  • Salary Profiles
  • (e.g. Age vs. Salary)
  • (e.g. Experience vs. Salary)
  • (e.g. Designation Level vs. Salary)

If this promise/carrot persuades many thousands of jobseekers to come forward and “process” their CVs on Recruitguru as GUESTS, our demo database will grow dramatically!
It will even be more accurate — because people will be online, and graphs will not be displayed unless editing (especially Career History Section) is completed.

We want ImageBuilder to be the “NEW CURRENCY” of recruitment, with which we want to withdraw completely from the market the existing old currency, viz.

Plain / E-mail Resume.

A time must come when Corporate HR managers refuse to accept plain/email resumes — and insist on ImageBuilder version only!

c. Compare & Contrast

This is the third link I want on homepage.

Sanjeev has already prepared this tabulation.

Through this link, we wish to position Recruitguru as a “Recruitment Process Platform”, and to ensure that Recruitguru does not get perceived/seen by Corporates & Candidates as just another jobsite.

Of course, I am acutely aware that:

  • A candidate can post his resume in our DEMO database as a GUEST, and
  • A casual/stray HR manager can search such DEMO database also as a GUEST.

Hence, to some extent, Recruitguru does start resembling a little bit like another jobsite.

But —
on Recruitguru, there are NO job-ads for search by the candidates!

d. DOs & DON’Ts

This is the fourth link I want on the homepage.

Sanjeev is supposed to prepare this.

By now, Sanjeev / Abhi know what mistakes potential clients are making (and of course, what mistakes we ourselves made — as 3P!).

Although Webservice is a rather new concept in India, there is no need to let each potential subscriber make the same mistakes — again & again — everybody “rediscovering the internet” the hard way!

Not every subscriber is determined to succeed — not everyone has patience & perseverance!

So, if they fail to use the Recruitguru smoothly or successfully — even due to their own ignorance — they will blame Recruitguru as being “too complicated” & “user-unfriendly”!

A few such failures and the (bad) reputation of Recruitguru will spread like wildfire!
Then it will be impossible to prove our innocence!

The damage would be far-reaching!

Please help Sanjeev to compile this.

Besides, the sharply-worded DOs & DON’Ts — each of these items must also appear as FAQ.

e. PRESS

As mentioned earlier, Human Capital (Jan 2004) will carry a write-up about Recruitguru.
Hopefully, in course of time, more newspapers/magazines will carry similar write-ups.

It is very important that we display & publicize these on our websites.

We can get a lot of mileage from such free publicity.

f. FREE TRIAL REGISTRATION LIST

Today, there is no such link on homepage.

This link is on FREE TRIAL page — and there too, very inconspicuous!

There itself, we must make it very conspicuous / visible, so that people are tempted to click.

But apart from the free trial page, I strongly feel that this link should also appear on the homepage.
Over a period of time, this list will carry the names of some large corporates.
These company names are our “References” and become a strong marketing aid.

By making available this link in a bold / beautiful / inviting manner on the homepage, we would tempt visitors to click / see these names.

That would convince him to become a paid subscriber.

From this “List” page, we should enable a visitor to click & go to → Registration Page.

g. CLIENT OPINIONS / CASE STUDIES

I have found such a link on many websites.

At the moment, we have nothing to report here, but someday we would — and therefore, we should reserve some space for this on our homepage.

h. No. of Resumes Processed so far on Recruitguru

The current counter on our homepage is not very impressive.

We must make it large / attractively displayed.

In fact, the moment our homepage opens in the browser, this counter is the very first thing the visitor should notice.

I consider this counter to be our most powerful marketing tool (“Subscription List” is next).

i. Accuracy / Speed Graphs

Clicking on this link on homepage would take the visitor to these graphs.

On these, a detailed note is sent to Kartavya / Abhi / Sanjeev.

j. Candidate Validation

We are planning to send out an email message to each & every candidate, whose resume gets processed on Recruitguru, to log-in and:

“Edit / Complete” his ImageBuilder online.

This way, we hope to achieve:

  • 100% accuracy of data
  • Salary Profiles generation

I suppose this auto-generated email to each candidate will contain this link (Candidate Validation).
When he clicks on this link, he will be straight taken to a page titled:

CANDIDATE VALIDATION

By entering your User ID / Password below, you will be able to view your extended resume.
Kindly edit the same online by:

  • editing / updating extracted fields
  • entering missing data (especially in Career History Section)

Once you have completed editing, click on View Salary Profile, which will show your standing vis-à-vis professionals who are of same Age / Experience / Designation Level as yourself.
