Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

With regards,

DO'S & DON'T

DO’s & DON’TS

During the last one month, you have received lots of feedback from Prakash Kedarkarni / Sunit Doshi / Hozefa Hakim, etc.

They also sent you several emails and asked many clarifications / explanations on phone.

I do not think the problems they faced were unique.

I think every subscriber will face the same problems.

Learning from this, you should quickly prepare a page titled DO’s & DON’TS — with help from Kartavya / Abhi / Atul — and upload it on the website with one link on the homepage itself.

Apart from this, you should also incorporate these as part of FAQ.

I presume this list will keep growing for some time.

You should not wait to prepare a comprehensive list.

Simply upload whatever you can prepare — tonight even — and keep adding later.

Every time a subscriber registers for Free Trial, and our software automatically sends the ID / password / covering letter, that covering letter should also contain one line with link —

“DO’s & DON’TS”

P.S.: Enclosed find my 1st attempt.

For best results, ensure the following conditions:

  • Use a fast dial-up connection (preferably 512 kbps) or a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) or a dedicated leased line for uploading resumes.
  • For bulk uploading (batch uploading) of 500 or more resumes at a time, use a third-party FTP server (preferably CuteFTP).
  • One file / folder must not contain resumes belonging to different formats.
  • Accumulate all resumes on one hard disk before starting the uploading.
  • Use Internet Explorer 5.5 or better.

GumMine cannot extract / process resumes which:

  • are more than 100 KB in size
  • contain image files
  • are in the PDF format
  • contain a macro
  • are password-protected
  • are not resumes but covering letters (to a resume) or any other type of documents
  • belong to fresh graduates (with no working experience)
  • contain foreign addresses or foreign educational qualifications / foreign PIN / ZIP codes, foreign city names, etc. (other than Indian)
  • mention Date of Birth (DOB) in ways other than DD / MM / YY

RECRUITGURU’S EXTRACTION-SPEED

·     I enclosed updated graphs-based on homepage counter reading taken at 8am every morning.

·     I will continue to plot these manually till Recruitguru’s ADMIN TOOL can do so automatically.

These graphs indicate total extraction (including reject/duplicate) and for all subscribers put together (including)

-    3P as a subscriber

-    Online Demo database

(Where we are uploading resumes recd. Against Project Manhattan i.e. apply@3pjobs.com

·     It is over a month, since we started extraction, but it is clear that there are serious problems to be solved. You should seek help from all possible sources to find a solution, so that for each subscriber.

Recruitguru manages to extract 1200 resumes/hour (I believe recruitguru has provision to cater to 30 subscribers simultaneously).

·     Even if our existing free trial wallas are not coming forwarded to process their private resumes in large no’s as on 17th of this month, you mentioned that we still have

113631

Email resumes remaining to be processed on behalf of 3P (as a subscriber). You said, these have already been uploaded So, non-availability of resumes (for experimentation) is not a problem.

In addition we also have 23000 resumes which samata has downloaded from timesjobs.com We have decided to process (extract) these and put under.

DEMO database

So these too are available.

Again in last 15 days, 3P must have received 4000 resumes, which too are available for UPLOADING!

Subject: Processing Speed

  • See enclosed graph.

  • This (improvement of extraction-speed) is obviously our highest priority.
If some 10 companies were to subscribe in the next 10 days and start extracting their resumes, then what is merely “very important” will become a CRISIS!

  • In fact, every subscriber must be able to see such a graph for his own private database, anytime he chooses!

Accuracy of Extraction

  • We had a long debate on this yesterday with Raju / SriRam / Nirmit.
  • Whereas I agree with them that we have to continuously work on increasing extraction accuracy, it is a long-drawn process.
  • Each incremental increase in the level of accuracy will require more effort. Of course, if we were to be using a Neural-Network System, this accuracy-improvement process would become largely automatic.

We are far from that stage.

  • In the meantime, we cannot hold up launch / marketing of Recruitguru.
  • To convince potential clients that they have a damn good product, we must take help of what management jargon calls SIX SIGMA

(which incidentally I had used on a shopfloor of Shripad’s machine shop more than 40 years ago!).

  • I strongly suggest we plot a graph as shown on the next page (to be automatically updated every night).

Then, the idea of Recruitguru as a truly modern extraction process not only meets but exceeds what is expected of it!

Payment Gateway

  • This was a very good analysis indeed.
  • From your comparative chart, it is obvious that we should opt for

Cc Avenue / Economy Service (7%).

  • Just check & confirm that in case, after 3/6 months if we want to “upgrade” to Premium Service, can we just pay the difference in setup fee (₹ 2,500 → ₹ 7,500 → ₹ 17,500)?
  • Initially, we don’t mind paying 7 % discount rate (to keep our setup deposit low – ₹ 7,500 ).

But if our business picks up, we will not mind paying ₹ 15,000 deposit to bring down discount rate to 5 %.

As our business (i.e., monthly payments thru Credit Cards) grows, we must keep up with it.
Cc Avenue is a highly - accommodative service.

I am sure large e-commerce sites never pay more than 1 % – provided you have bargaining strength!

  • You must sign order before 15 Oct, & be operational by end Oct.
