Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

GURU MAP TOOL

Rahul → Sanabh

Gum Map
Date: 11-10-06

Consider enclosed W/I for Gum Map tool.
This is only a concept.
If you succeed in developing such a tool, the actual UI may look very different.

Why we need Gum Map?

Immediate Needs

  • GumGrab should be able to download resumes from all 4 websites (for which we have user ID / password) simultaneously (all at one go).
Consultants need not enter “Resume Search Parameters” again and again.
  • GumAd should be able to upload job advertisements on all 4 websites at one go.
  • Once all consultants (put together) have created a Master List of keywords for all 551 actual designations / roles (in GumSelect),
then there should be no need to go through the same exercise for 20,000 (so-called “unique”) actual designations found from 4 lakh job advertisements of Naukri downloaded during the last 2 years.

Structured Data Extracted from Job Ads

These 4 lakh job ads already contain a structured database of the following fields:

  • Job Code
  • Position (Actual Designation)
  • Company Name
  • City / Location (of posting)
  • Educational Qualification
  • Minimum Experience
  • Maximum Age
  • Source (Website Name)

If such a tool is developed,
I can spend 3/4 days and “map” all these 20,000 positions (actual designations) against Monster’s 551 actual designations.

If actual designations appearing in job ads of TimesJobs / JobsAhead were also available, then the mapping process can be carried out simultaneously.
If not, it can be done in stages.

(Dated 11/10/06)

If successful, we don’t have to spend enormous time finding KEYWORDS in 20,000 job-adverts (even if we highlight in only ONE job-advert for each designation).

Which means, in course of time, when GumGrab starts downloading resumes from Naukri, even these resumes can have a MATCH INDEX (based on equivalent Monster designation).

Creating such Parity / Equivalence across 4 major job sites for all fields would have major benefits.

If successful, at a future date, even jobseekers may be able to:

  • Post resume on one site (IndiaRecruiter) and have it posted on all 4 sites.
  • Search jobs on one site and get search-results from all 4 sites.
