CONCEPT NOTE FOR B2B


Concept Note on


We booked this URL today.

Genesis:

▶ I have come across a no. of websites which allow you to send out an inquiry or send a proposal to a “business”.

But, normally, one can send such a message (inquiry/proposal) to only ONE business (company) at a time.
This is a serious limitation, for companies/businesses which want to send out their promotional messages to hundreds or even thousands of companies at one go.

There could be several reasons for this:

  • Because the service is FREE

  • Because of load (emailing) that may get imposed on the Server if thousands of messages (emails) have to be pushed out every hour – especially, if the messages are very long.

Private Mailing List
Dear Marketer,

▶ “Sure, it is great to be able to blast my marketing message to 700,000+ companies in India, but can I use your service to email my message to my own private mailing list which I have painstakingly compiled over a long period?”

Our answer:

▶ Sure you can.
 And you don’t even need to create a database, consisting of:

  • Designation

  • Company Name

Some websites allow FREE registration (basic)
but charge some annual subscription from (registering) companies for:

  • Verification / Certification

  • Displaying website URL etc.

Some websites display ads (AdWord/AdSense) from which they make money.

I have not carefully studied their revenue-models.


Now, it would be reasonable to ask:

“If several such sites are existing, where is the need for one more?

What can we offer that would be better than what these sites offer?

What is our USP?

How will we make money (revenue-model) to sustain / grow the site?”

I do not have perfectly satisfactory answers to all of these questions, but following are some of the considerations, which may indicate a “scope” for one more, such site:


# Difference

  • We will enable registered users (Companies) to:

    → “Create / Save / Edit” several “Marketing Messages”, in advance

    → “Create / Save / Edit” several “TARGET LISTS” of recipient Companies, in advance.
    These could be a few hundred to a few thousand companies, configured based on:

    • Industries

    • Cities

    • Countries (someday, later on)

→ Simply select

  • any given “Mktg. Message” and blast it, with one click to

  • any given “Target List”

Such a feature would justify the URL,

Existing websites are geared towards a single / individual, sending out “Inquiries” / “Proposals” to select Companies, One at a time.

Consumers 2 Businesses.


But,
When it comes to Companies themselves;
Which company (officer) has time to send out marketing messages / promo-matter to one potential client, at-a-time?

I believe, this (Mass Marketing thru Website) is a huge, untapped area.

Today, marketing managers have to depend upon:

  • Print Media

  • TV

  • Hoardings etc.

for mass marketing.

Of course, a company can also use Google Adwords, to display their ads on specific websites (even in specific geographical locations).

Or InMobi / Yahoo and similar Ad Networks can deliver a company’s advt. on millions of mobile phones / tablets etc.

But, these are VERY EXPENSIVE & BROADCASTS.

Again,
There is no way of knowing, how many people...


...“read” the advt (marketing message) on Print media / TV / Hoarding!

If mobile-ads are CTR based, yes, the advertising company will come to know, how many people clicked / opened it.

Once again, most such ads are targeted to “End-Consumers”, and only occasionally to “Other Businesses”.

And then, there are severe limitations as far as “targetting” of such messages is concerned, except for geographical or language-based targetting.

And then, there is no feedback from those who may have read/viewed such ads.


As opposed to this, B2BMessageBlaster.com,

  • To be used by Mktg. Mgrs, not any individual

  • Meant for Businesses – not end Consumers

  • Targeted by Industry / City / Company Name

  • Messages delivered from emails to Corporate email IDs
     (of course, in most cases, the email IDs that we have (in our Company Databases), are of “Recruiting people”).

Any company, blasting a message, would consider a 5% response, as FABULOUS!!

If the “Blasting Company” is aware of this FORM / FEEDBACK, in advance; it would be very tempted to use our service.

And, as mentioned earlier, if the feedback is 1%–5%, it would use our service, again & again!


We have no clue as to the “worth” of our USP, to a Mktg. Mgr.

For some big companies, or even some small companies desperately trying to promote their product / service to some “Niche” target, even Rs. 1.0 could be cheap.

For some others, Rs. 1.0 may be “unaffordable”.

Of course, whatever we charge, must recover our cost of sending out that email.

Then again, Rs. 1.0 per target company,
could be “ridiculously cheap” for foreign companies, trying to find customers / collaborators / dealers / stockists / distributors in India.


Then there is also the question of potential User-Companies, “believing” in our offering.
Quite often, they have been taken for a ride, by fly-by-the-night outfits, who charged them a pretty sum and then shut down their websites!

How do you get them to “trust” you?


We don’t want to say that we are associated with 3P, which enjoys a solid reputation amongst Corporate India.


One way out is to offer our services, for FREE, for:

▶ Either a fixed limited period (say 12 months from date of launch)
OR
▶ First 10,000 (or 100,000) emails.

I prefer the second option.

After first 100,000 emails (marketing messages), a registered corporate subscriber would need to pay, at the rate of:

Rs. 100 for every 1,000 messages.

This is cheap enough for a subscriber to continue to patronize us, especially if he has received some positive feedback / response from the initial 100,000 messages.


It is also possible that, by the time he completes his FREE quota of 100,000 messages, he has:

Even though the points I listed under #DIFFERENCE (i.e. differentiation), are our USP, our online service must be highly cost-effective in relation to current marketing-channel costs (Newspapers / TV / Hoarding etc.).

Only problem is:

Every marketing manager knows the cost of a newspaper ad or a TV spot of 10 seconds, or a hoarding for one month.

But he does not know:

  • how many of the “target viewers” will read it

  • how many “target viewers” will “act upon” it

Even in case of B2BMessageBlaster.com, we cannot guarantee how many will read the message (and how many will delete it without reading).

Nor can we guarantee how many recipients will fill in the FEED-BACK form.

Hence, B2BMessageBlaster.com is NOT at any particular “dis-advantage” vis-à-vis traditional marketing channels, as far as “COST” is concerned.

So, he has “invested” heavily in B2BMessageBlaster, which will all go waste if he discontinues, especially if he has got some feedback/response from his earlier campaigns.

As marketing “Gurus” would advise, we have got to first “hook” the prospect!


Another thing:

Big companies have big advertising budgets.
Ad Agencies / PR agencies have a vested interest in making big companies spend big money on marketing advts.

Their commission (10%–15% of Ad spend) depends upon this.

They might even “advise” big companies not to “fall for” B2BMessageBlaster!

Because that gets them NO commission!
Hence, big companies will be “slow adopters” of our site.
