BUSINESS MODEL ASSUMPTIONS

“Jobseeker.com – Sister Site to Recruitguru”

Dated: 23/09/03

To: Sanjeev, Kartavya, Atthi

Jobseeker.com

We had thought of this URL for our sister-site (to Recruitguru). It is not available.

This morning I looked up the availability of interesting/significant URLs — and am enclosing the list. The better-sounding ones are all taken.

But amongst those available, I like best:

  • world-wide-jobs.com
  • world-jobs.com (next best)

This is because:

  • For jobseekers to feel curious/interested in a website, the word “jobs” has to be present in the URL.

In India, we have:

JobsAhead
JobStreet
Jobsaud (hidden for “job”)

Naukri (“Hindi for job”)

Bujobs
HotJobs (USA)

JobNet (” “)

JobWorld (” “)

“Concept for Sister Site (Job Aggregator)”

  • For a great majority of Indian jobseekers, the word career has little significance.
“Job” is what is understandable and sought after across the length and breadth of the country.
  • “Job” is synonymous with Roti–Kapda–Makan–Marriage!
“Naukri” is even better understood, but a little derogatory/demeaning — implying low-level clerical / blue-collar jobs.

Concept

Our sister site will be an Aggregator / Consolidator / Compiler of jobs from all over — starting with India-based jobs, and gradually expanding to cover jobs from those countries where Indians like to go, viz.:

Gulf
South-East Asia

USA
Europe

In short, we want our new site to become a

ONE-STOP SHOPPING

when it comes to searching/hunting for jobs!

We have already compiled (downloaded) over 160,000 job ads (from Naukri/Monster) and are continuing to download 500/day.

As soon as Atthi creates/develops a web spider, we could download and store job ads locally.

Vittal can be free for other interesting work.

Jobseeker.com Concept (continued)”

Our Sister-Site Concept

USA
Europe

In short, we want our new site to become a

ONE-STOP SHOPPING PORTAL

when it comes to searching/hunting for jobs!

We have already compiled (downloaded) over 160,000 job ads (from Naukri/Monster) and continue to download 500/day.

As soon as Atthi creates/develops a web spider, we could download and process job ads locally.

“Need for Aggregator Job Database”

Q: Why do we need to build up a job-ad database of 5 lakh ads?

Ans:

  • No Indian jobsite has such a large job-ad database individually.
  • Monster / Naukri / JobsAhead will never think of downloading job ads from each other’s websites! That would be worse than suicide!!

So in the absence of an Aggregator Website (like www.DirectEmployers.com in America), Indian jobseekers are forced to visit all the major websites — and that too daily. There is no “one-stop shop” available to Indian jobseekers.

If some Indian jobsite were to become such a “One Stop Shop,” I think jobseekers in future will only visit that website, and no other!

If they can find all jobs advertised on Monster / Naukri / JobsAhead / JobStreet, etc., on

www.world-wide-jobs.com,

then why on earth should they want to visit each of those sites?

“Aggregator Model Justification”

Since www.world-wide-jobs.com
would be, by nature, an aggregator only, it would not have any ego or prestige issue about downloading adverts from any number of jobsites and displaying them.

We would be doing a great social service to jobseekers — FREE!

We would be doing a great commercial service to employers — for FREE!

Both should love such a free service.

Monster / Naukri / JobsAhead, etc., cannot object to our downloading, aggregating, and permitting search by jobseekers (and permitting online apply by jobseekers) either.

We are doing a great service to them as well!

All job info / job ads which we are downloading is public domain,

and we are republishing without any change or modification.

And we are giving credit (displaying employer name / email ID / source too).

So we are on safe legal ground!

“Revenue & Growth Model”

But why go through all this trouble?

Ans:

  • To get those 21 lakh jobseekers (whose email IDs we have) to submit their resumes on
    www.world-wide-jobs.com

Combos

  • Get mailing list of 31,171 companies (only if Career History section filled up online).

Revenue Model

Having got 21 lakh resumes —

Sell each for ₹10 (per download) to employers.

By selling each resume (on an average 10 times per year), earn:

₹2.0 crore / year (year after year)

Analytics Add-on

Get salary and designation details of 21 lakh jobseekers and create:

  • Salary Profile Graphs
  • Designation Profile Graphs

And annually, sell 10 lakh graphs @ ₹20 each to corporates =

₹200 lakhs (year after year)

Do you agree that we should look at www.world-wide-jobs.com?

“URLs Available”

Dated: 23/09/03

URLs Available

  • jobs-hunt.com
  • jobs-hunts.com
  • jobs-searching.com
  • jobs-alert.com
  • job-edge.com
  • job-first.com

Aggregation:
These URLs convey two things:

1️ This site is about finding jobs.

2️ It must contain many jobs from all over.

Hence the preferred choices 👇

  • jobs-survey.com
  • jobs-surveys.com
  • jobsummary.com
  • jobsummaries.com
  • world-jobs.com
  • world-wide-jobs.com (1) Top choice

Other options checked:

  • careerhunts.com
  • career-hunt.com

To compete with:

  • JobsAhead
  • JobStreet
  • Jobsaudi

→ Question: What catchy URL do we need?

“Study of www.DirectEmployers.com”

Dated: 23/09/03

www.DirectEmployers.com
227,009 jobs !

1️ Time-Filter Options

  • All jobs currently posted on employer websites.
  • Jobs posted on employer websites:
  •  • in the last day
  •  • in the last 2 days
  •  • in the last 3 days
  •  • in the last week

2️

It is an “Association of Employers” (non-profit).

3️

Links jobseekers directly to employer websites.

4️

Has about 115 companies (employers) as its members.

5️

Once linked/taken to a member employer’s website, a user cannot “back” to DirectEmployers.com!
Something terribly wrong !!

Note: Do look up “Jobseeker FAQ” on this website.

MonsterIndia Article + Recruitguru Strategic Note

Date: 20/09/03

Recipients:
Sanjeev / Kartavya / Atthi / Nimit / SriRam / Raju

Headline (Newspaper Clipping)

“MonsterIndia Sees Big Opportunity in Manufacturing, Banking Segments”
(Economic Times-style article snippet showing Anil Bhalla’s remarks on market growth and job expansion in India.)

Handwritten Notes

To establish that Recruitguru is NOT a jobsite and it is a Recruitment Self-Service Solution, we decided that we should have no resume database on Recruitguru where we sell resumes.
This is fine and logical — but Tadanki’s article confirms what I have always said, viz.:

1️ There is big money in selling resumes!

American software companies would love to “update” and “revalidate” IT professionals from India.

At ₹1 per resume, American companies can buy 20,000 resumes/year (per client) — and save millions of dollars in the process (by bypassing typical physical/people-based searches).

If they had to headhunt each $1000-resume locally, that would cost them nearly ₹0.5 lakh instead of ₹0.20 lakh!

If we could offer this sale of resumes at ₹1 each on an independent site (Jobseeker.com), then we can import thousands of American companies!

Points to be Noted:

  • 95% of MonsterIndia’s resumes come from Resume Access or Job Ad Posting.
  • Most of this comes from resume access.
  • Let us assume → 80% from Resume Access (i.e., ₹4.8 crore out of ₹6 crore profit).

Tadanki says:

“Of resume database search, we owe 10% to headhunt market (the local market).”
That means → 70% from the U.S.A., 10% from India.

That means 70% of the money (customers) searching Resume Database online are U.S. companies.

If 800 companies are buying resume database search (IT firms),

then 560 are U.S. companies.

If each U.S. company pays ₹20 lakh/year,

then total = ₹16 crore/year revenue from U.S. companies!

“Jobseeker.com Integration Concept”

Date: 12/09/03

To: Sanjeev / Atthi / Kartavya

Jobseeker.com

During the last two days we discussed how to deliver same / identical application service to Jobseeker.com which exists on Recruitguru.com.

With the help of Sanjeev / Atthi, I suggest you examine our Partner Website Program on 3pJobs.com.
I believe there are 62 partner websites.

On their homepages, these websites carry the following links:

A. For Jobseekers:

  • Post Resume
  • Job Search

B. For Employers:

  • Post Job Adverts
  • Resume Search

“Architecture and Technical Mechanism”

...continue to reside on 3pJobs.com ONLY!

Webservers of partner websites do not host these applications.

These servers merely act as communication / transfer agents

  • Delivering forms / data / requests from candidates / employers, etc., to the 3pJobs.com server.
  • And when 3pJobs.com server has carried out the instructions —
  • Delivering results / messages / displays from 3p server to partner website servers.

Gyril (Vxceed) wrote this in XML in May 2000.

You may want to check out its exact working.

Of course, the real beauty is that 3pJobs.com server allocates centrally PEN / Auth No. etc. irrespective of source (partner website).

Any website that wants to become our partner can simply fill in an online form on 3pJobs.com,
pick-up 6 (copy) links / logo, and paste it on any page of its own website.

That’s all!

All this happens without our knowledge or without any examination / permission!
