TIMESMATRI.COM

File Note

  • Naukri is already into online Matrimonials - so is Timesjobs.
  • Compare this form with "Submit Resume" form of any job site (especially Naukri/timesjobs).
  • Barring hatched areas, we can find all the rest of the fields in a jobseeker's resume.
  • So Naukri/Timesjobs would argue
    • by simply adding a few extra fields to our existing Resume form, we could get into Matrimonial matchmaking!
    • We are already in the business of matchmaking of employers & jobseekers. This looks like a "natural extension" of that we are already doing. Only the "Buyer/Seller" group changes.
    • This would be a
      • "Synergistic Diversification of our business."
      • Similar to "Job-Preferences"
    • We have to make only slight/small changes in our DATABASES/PROCESSES/REVENUE-MODEL (How to collect money & from whom? Both parties? When? etc) BUT:
      • Our BUSINESS-MODEL (viz: online matchmaking) remains SAME. Even customers (Would-be Brides & Grooms) also remain SAME! They are already searching for jobs or would soon search for jobs! We can "CROSS-SELL" both the services. A customer of timesjobs can become a customer of timesmatri and Vice-versa!
  • Why provision to fill-in form (offline) & post (snail-mail)? Somebody in timesmatri.com would need to sit-down and re-enter all data on a PC! Timesmatri can afford. This problem will remain till Internet penetrates small towns.

Abhi \to Rejji \to Rajeev

  • Today's Priority
    • In WWJ Admin Tool (both ours and MSPs), to add a Column for NO. of MENU JAM messages recd (daily + cumulative). Airtel Advt. may get released today or tomorrow and Airtel (and us) would like to keep track.
  • Global Recruiter
    • We need an Admin Tool - for us as well as for each partner websites. We need to track (daily + cumu); for each partner & for total of all Websites put together:
      • NO. of jobs posted
      • NO. of resumes posted
      • NO. of job-searches conducted
      • NO. of resume-search " "
      • NO. of "Resume Blast" incidences (i.e. NO. of job-seekers who used resume-blast feature)
      • NO. of resumes blasted (a candidate can send to 235 placement agencies / aggregated)
      • NO. of "Apply-online" from websites (not from mobiles)
      • NO. of Corporate subscribers registered
  • NO. of JAB delivered (Total for all Candidates)
  • NO. of RAB " (Total for all Corporates)

Each partner website owner will get to see his OWN data, to begin with.

If, at a later date, we find that many partners are contributing daily, a LARGE no. of resumes & job-advts, then we will consider, showing to each partner; not only his own data but the Cumulative/ aggregated data of ALL partners put-together - and his own "percentage-Contribution" of that total aggregation. I hope this will enthuse him to do more.

Apart from the above, for our own need/use, we need One more data on the ongoing basis viz:

  • NO. of new Corporates becoming subscribers on each partner website (daily + cumu) - also aggregate for all partners put together.

Even this could be shown to each partner.

PRIORITIES

  • Resume Blast (if not already Completed)
  • Creation of all static pages - both for Global Recruiter & for strategic HR websites
  • Write-up on "Architecture" (Abhi)
  • Absolutely CLEAR instructions re: how a partner can join GR. Describe precise step-by-step sequence that he must follow

  • Creation of 150/200 FAKE partner websites (Placement Agencies not having their own URL).
  • These Placement Agencies should be able to click on a hyperlink in my promotional email, which will take them to their OWN respective websites.
  • We will NOT ask them to "confirm" (that they are agreeable to become our partner).

Remember

"Asking forgiveness is easier than asking permission"!

  • My email will tell them,

"If you are not agreeable/if you do not wish to become a partner, then simply UNSUBSCRIBE and accept our apologies",

  • Many Airtel subscribers may never see Airtel print advts (Lion/fish etc).
  • SO they may never Send SMS MENU JAM on 646.
  • They might hear about WWJ from friends or see Free Press Job Advt. Summary or our own email campaign
  • and directly "Register". How can they activate their service?
  • We must populate GR database with 100,000 job-advts & 300,000 resumes and carry out thorough testing of all features by Saturday/Sunday at the latest. Do not leave any testing beyond SUNDAY.
  • Abhi has to finalize RAM/RAB to appear on Recruitment Mgr's handset within 10 minutes of his posting a job-advt on any partner website.
  • On $5^{th}$ Oct, we will use Strategic HR for Demo to post

his job-advt. for Online demo.

  • Thru a separate note, I have requested you to examine, whether JAM can appear on a jobseeker's mobile, within a few seconds of his posting resume/registering on WWJ.
  • If we can pull this off, it would have an electrifying effect and registrations will jump dramatically.

INSTANT GRATIFICATION

10-12-05

Abhi

Instant Gratification

I think, sometime back, I made a suggestion that, as soon as a jobseeker submits his resume & fills up his "job-preferences" & submits, we deliver on his mobile 5 job-alert SMS within 60 seconds!12

Since WWJ does not have a regular typical4 jobsearch feature - like all other jobsites, my suggestion has a merit in that

Registering jobseeker gets assured that WWJ actually does have a large database of fresh job-alerts

He is convinced that our "Match-making" software does actually work & give relevant results

Our tie-up with Airtel/MTNL is for "REAL" (as claimed by us) and that the "delivery" does take place on his handset, as promised and that he can look forward a regular daily delivery from next day.

A message should flash on his PC7 screen (as soon as he clicks "Submit"), as follows:

Dear Jobseeker

Thank you for registering.

In the next 60 seconds, you will receive, on your mobile, 5 JAM alerts.

These are jobs downloaded from various jobsites 2 days back

Check these SMS alerts against your job-preferences - then, if need be, edit your job-preferences

(To edit, you need to login with your User ID / Password).

These first 5 JAM SMS is only a demo.

Your regular service, starting tomorrow, can only be activated after you send SMS

JAM SUB on

Alternatively, can we show him these 5 Demo alert SMS on his PC screen, immediately?

Instant Everything

This is an age of "instant everything". Nobody has patience of anything that takes time - unless your immediate/clear purpose is to "pass time/kill time (eg: a game of solitaire).

We must take advantage of this desire/human weakness of impatience.

When a jobseeker searches for jobs on jobsites, after entering his "search-criteria", he clicks SUBMIT.

After that does he shut-down PC/log-off, go home and then return after one hour to see the sear18ch-result di19splay?

No!

He expects to see the display in next 5/10 seconds.

And he also gets to see in 5/10 seconds!

Even if the result-display takes 30/40 seconds, he will never return to that website!

I have no doubt that you have kept this (human impatience) in mind, when designing Global Recruiter.

Now turn to World-Wide-Jobs.

Here we are telling the candidates,

"Please fill-up job-preferences (which is same as search-criter23ia) - then wait for 24 hours! You will start getting job-alerts from TOMORROW!"

This is a huge contrast from a jobseeker's past experience of searching jobs on jobsites.

This feels almost like a "let down"!

Despite the fact that, by now, that jobseeker knows that

WWJ is NOT a jobsite

There is NO jobsearch on WWJ

This disappointment [frustration (of not being able to "see" the search-results immediately)], will turn into permanently getting rid of jobsearching on jobsites

Despite this knowledge, the comparison (of course, sub-conscious) with his past experience of many years of searching for jobs on jobsites, makes him feel disappointed.

It is human nature.

Every new experience is (sub-consciously) compared by the mind, with past experiences and sorted into 3 compartments, viz:

GOOD experience (Compares well/favourably with PAST experience)

BAD " (Worse than past comparable experiences)

EXCELLENT " (exceeds "expectations" which are framed by PAST experiences).

NOW imagine a situation as follows:

A candidate fills in "job-preference" form, posts his resume and clicks SUBMIT

A message flashes on his PC screen,

"Switch on your mobile (if not already on). A job-alert SMS (JAM)

matching your just-entered "job-preferences" will appear on your mobile within next 10/15 seconds! - and thereafter everyday*. This is not a SAMPLE! It is REAL, and you can apply online instantly, by sending following SMS from your mobile:

(MENU) JAM $<$ Job Code $>$ on $\begin{vmatrix} \\ \end{vmatrix}$

By the time, that jobseeker finishes reading this message on his PC screen, the JAM appears on his mobile!24

(With the new arrangement with Airtel, the activation thru JAM SUB is already eliminated)25

If we can incorporate 26this INSTANTNESS in JAM,

Jobseeker's experience will be EXCELLENT as compared to his past experiences.

He gets INSTANT-PROOF of JAM.

He is convinced of the CONVENIENCE

He is AMAZED at the speed & response

He will talk to 10 friends to try-out (WORD-OF-MOUTH publicity).

I strongly recommend we aim for this - and as soon as possible.

"KNOWLEDGE-PROFILE"

In Global Recruiter, you have provided that a candidate can EDIT the Keywords (Add / Delete / Modify) in the knowledge-profile box.27

I think this is a great idea.28

Why not extend this feature to WWJ also?29

I think we shou30ld.

BIXEE.COM

Abhi Rejji Rajeev

24-09-05

https://www.google.com/search?q=Bixee.com

I spent some time on this site today, I clicked, at the bottom on "India Jobs" and found a very confusing list of links, dozens of them!

After a few minutes, I figured out that what Bixee had done was to search for some "keywords" in the job-adverts, most likely in the

"Company Name" field

"Position" "

"Edu." "

"Posting-City" " etc.

Then regroup the advts. under each of these fields.

So obviously, Same advt. got "regrouped" again & again, under more than one field. Hence if you click, you may find same advt under several links!

Not only this is a lot of duplication but it makes entire jobsearch extremely time-consuming/frustrating.

Let us examine, how many different ways, do Bixee organize/reorganize

its job-advts

Here is a quick/superficial finding (based on pages enclosed):

1 Industry-wise

2 Trade wise

3 Function wise

4 Skill wise

5 Edu. Quali. wise

6 Estac Co. Name wise

7 Geography - (City) wise

8 Designation-Level wise

SEARCH PARAMETERS

I would say Bixee's "intentions" are quite noble!

They know that they don't know, how a particular jobseeker will "approach" the jobsearch.

Anybody's guess!

It is obvious that a job can be (and should be) searched, using any of the above-listed 8 parameters.

Each jobseeker has a different set of priorities/importance/weightage, as far as these 8 parameters is concerned.

Today, he is interested in a particular "INDUSTRY" (above everything else)

Tomorrow, it is the "FUNCTION" which becomes most important to him.

And day-after-tomorrow, he is hung-up on jobs located in a particular "CITY" only

And next day, he does not want to look at any jobs below the "DESIGNATION-LEVEL" of General Manager

So, not only does a jobsearch starts using different SEARCH-PARAMETERS, for thousands of candidates

But

even for a same candidate, the search could start using different SEARCH-PARAMETERS on different days

[Graph: Candidate on Y-axis (A, B, C, D), TIME FRAME on X-axis (Today, Tomorrow, Day-After). Arrows point from the X-axis for each day to a SEARCH CRITERIA (Ind, Func, City).]

So, a good JOB SEARCH DESIGN should enable a jobseeker to

Enter using any GATE (Criteria)

Narrow the Search using Successive - GATES (criteria).

Today almost all jobsites, require "entering" all (or most) search-criteria so that the search-engine

"applies all entered criteria Simultaneously"

Of course, this has great advantage of quickly narrowing down the search-results to a few (manageable) no.

But to a jobseeker the "background" of this process remains UNEXPLAINED - A MYSTERY!

But when he starts with just ONE criteria, sees

> "4396 matching jobs found"

> To narrow down apply one more Search-criteria

and then applies the next criteria and sees

> 4396 narrowed down to 2385 matching both criteria

> To narrow further, apply one more \ldots

so on & so forth, till he clicks DISPLAY

But who has the time and why would anybody wish to go through such a tortuous/painstakingly-slow process?

I don't know whether any jobseeker would enjoy playing such a GAME!

But on zipjobs, we did display jobs

Citywise

Industry wise

Function wise

also through MAGIC - CUBE search.

I believe, even on https://www.google.com/search?q=ReemitGuru.com, our Resume Search is

SEQUENTIAL.

HR love GR!

This is an extension of my note (18/09/05)

"What Do We Want?"

As compared to Monster/Naukri, GR has many fantastic features. And we want our would-be partner website to come to know about these features.

By reading these features, would-be partners can be convinced that, if they Sign-up as a partner, they can compete against Monster/Naukri - and of course, against all the other jobsites!

By reading these features, would-be partners will feel confident to be able to convince the local corporate employers to ditch Monster/Naukri and subscribe to that partner. Now they know they can use these UNIQUE features (clearly contrasting with Monster/Naukri) in their "sales pitch".

See enclosed Comparative Tabulation. If I have missed-out any feature, pl. add. Then upload this page on GR. With some modification, same tabulation could also be displayed on a partner's website. Then he can just email that link to a thousand corporates, requesting them to click & look-up.
