Vote for Your "Preferred
Employers"
Abhi Sept. 12, 2004
Job-Preferences
Enclosed find my fresh proposal.
It is a bit lengthy – but it will
take much less time as compared to filling-in "Job-Search" criteria
on dozens of jobsites – and that too, daily! We must highlight that this is a ONE-TIME
effort, worth taking trouble.
Enclosed Job-preference form
"engages" the user in a novel experience. In every aspect of WWJ/JAM,
we must differentiate ourselves from other jobsites – to establish that,
WWJ is NOT a typical jobsite.
There is no way we can
play the game by the rules already established by other jobsites
(Current online recruitment industry). If we do, we are bound to be defeated! A
great no. of these jobsites are too formidable on their "turf".
Not only, we must offer "Mass-Customization",
We must also offer a different experience to each jobseeker.
Somewhat elaborate
notes/explanations are meant to "De-mystify" our matchmaking
process. This will increase our credibility – thr transparency.
Transferring "default"
values, from Image Builder to Job-preference form simplifies Visitor's life.
We are getting thousands of
jobseekers themselves to "assign" Industry-Names to the
Companies in which they have worked/working. So, in 6 months we will build-up a
good database (capturing wisdom/knowledge/content from everybody!). We will
continuously add these to DCA database of 6.3 lakh Companies – after checking
for duplicates. The database must be updated Once-a-day.
Check ticks made by jobseekers
will enable us to, Someday offer, one more COMPANY-REPUTATION Index, as
follows
|
Company Name |
Selected as "Preferred
Employer" by No. of Jobseekers |
% of Jobseekers |
|
|
text{Descending order of "VOTES
polled" |
Such a tabulation would be of
tremendous interest/utility to both jobseekers & employers. This
compilation & display will be automated and made available to only those
who complete/submit job-preference form.
Now we don't need to worry
whether a job-advt belongs to text{A or text{B or text{C Industry! We are
getting jobseekers to specify which Companies they are interested in.

Dear 4cm
The job-preferences which you
enter here will enable your personal Software Agent to search/select and
deliver to you everyday, matching/relevant job-alerts on your mobile. So,
select carefully.
If you select very "broad/general"
preferences, you may get many alerts – Including some which are not quite
relevant.
If you select quite "narrow/specific"
preferences, you will get only relevant alerts but too few or even none!
Depending upon your experience,
you may need to come back and EDIT your preferences a few times until
you hit the "Optimum".
ALL PREFERENCES MUST BE
SEPARATED BY COMMA

My choice of INDUSTRY/EMPLOYER
Most executives tend to grow
their careers (advance) in the same INDUSTRY in which they are currently
working – (text{of course, there are always exceptions).
So, what INDUSTRY does
your current/past employer companies belong to? We need to know that, so that
we may send you relevant job-alerts. Since, you are the best judge, Select
relevant/appropriate INDUSTRY, for each of the Companies that you have
worked for, in the past, shown below:

But may be you are interested in
receiving job-alerts from only some specific Companies within these industries.
After all, there are thousands of Companies within each industry but you prefer
to work for only a few of these.
If you are so particular, no
problem.
All you need to do is to tell
your personal Software Agent. Just tick the check- against the names of
Companies appearing under the INDUSTRY-NAMES, below:
