India-Marketer
“India-Marketer” could be one of our web-service modules.
It would allow marketing managers (or even purchase managers, strategic alliance managers & a host of other line managers) to search/locate Indian companies and be able to communicate with them (– thru phone/fax/email).
I believe, we are now in a position to construct/launch “India-Marketer” module, having cracked the DCA database of 5.3 lakh Indian companies.
I believe, this database consists of:
-
Name of Company
-
Parent Group
-
Product/Services (i.e., Industry)
-
Address (i.e., City/State)
-
Contact Info (Phone/Fax/Email – in rare case, email) (i.e., Communication)
-
Name of Chairman/MD (i.e., Personalization)
-
What else?
If our “cracking” effort has been successful (you have to confirm this to me), then I will immediately order Mar. 2002 CD which contains data on 6.8 lakh companies.
Our software should have following features:
▶ Given an “Industry Name”, list all companies belonging to that industry.
▶ Given a “Company Name”, list all “Industry-sectors” in which it is engaged. (Many diversified companies are active in a host of “Industry-Sectors.”)
▶ Given a “Product Name”, list all companies manufacturing/selling that product.
▶ Given a “City/State Name”, list all companies located in that city/state.
Using “India-Marketer” webservice, a Marketing Manager should be able to prepare unique “mailing-lists” to send his marketing message.
These lists could be:
-
Any one company
-
Any select group of companies belonging to same “Industry-Sector”
-
All companies belonging to an Industry-Sector
-
A set of companies, drawn from different “Industry-Sectors”
-
A set of companies manufacturing/selling same/similar products
-
A set of companies located in some city/state
-
A set of companies belonging to same parent group
Who will want to use “India-Marketer” & why?
Potential User | Probable Use/Reason |
---|---|
1. Mktg. Mgr. | Product/Service Marketing |
2. Sales Mgr. | Sales |
3. Purchase Mgr. | To source “Suppliers” of a product |
4. Strategic Alliance Mgr. | To tie-up/enter into alliances |
5. Finance Mgr. | To find “sources” of funds (e.g., banks/FIs/mutual funds, etc.) |
6. Personnel Mgr. | To provide list to “headhunters” to locate executives from certain companies |
7. Foreign Companies | To tie-up/appoint Indian Cos. for mktg/selling their products or select Indian Cos. for collaborations/joint ventures, etc. |
8. Telemarketing/Advertising Cos. | For niche-marketing their own clients’ “products/services” |
This is NOT a comprehensive list of “uses.”
Before we start on this project, you should take a close look at other websites (Indian websites) which offer same/similar services, and ask:
-
What do we have that they don’t have?
-
What can we (i.e., our webservice) do that they cannot?
-
What could be our competitive advantage – if any?
→ What time/money/effort would we have to spend to keep our “content” growing AND remain up-to-date?
Could we build-in a “mechanism” by which the concerned companies (in our database) themselves will spend their own time/effort to update info/data about themselves on a regular basis, so that, for us, there is no time/effort/cost in creating & maintaining content?
If this objective (of self-generation/maintenance of content) has to be achieved, what “carrot” would we have to offer to these corporates, which would encourage them to take this trouble? – “What is in it for me?”
If we have succeeded in “cracking” the CD, we have spent very little time/effort/money in FIRST-TIME creation of content. Buying latest CD & updating the content once in a year would cost negligible amount/time/effort.
Only if we wish to update content on an ongoing basis, then we need to do some serious thinking.
Examples:
① Could we offer free “Exclusive Page” to each corporate on our website who updates his own data once-a-year?
② Or we offer free “use” of India-Marketer webservice to those corporates who:
-
Update their own data once-a-year
-
Agree/accept to receive incoming email messages from other “MEMBERS” (– so that no allegation of “spamming” & no danger of legal action).
③ We offer free use of “India-Marketer” module to those subscribers who subscribe to our “Global Recruiter / RESUMINE” module.
Under last option (③), it is quite possible that even such a company which hardly gets 5 email resumes in a month, may still become our subscriber of RESUMINE, primarily to take advantage of INDIAN-MARKETER – to leverage its own marketing capabilities at our cost (– since our server will get loaded).
But, to be able to claim that 50,000 companies are our RESUMINE subscribers, can have a FANTASTIC impact on the entire industrial world – across the globe – and especially if some of these 50,000 subscribers happen to be FORTUNE 500 Companies!
Pl. give a serious thought & also lookup www.bwolves.com (Hugh Francis) for which we have subscription.
