Industry Names – Database & Droplists
I first prepared this list some 16 years ago, when launching www.3pjobs.com.
Then it got revised some 7/8 years ago, by which time we had started RSS feeds (for job adverts) from Naukri, in www.IndiaRecruiter.net.
This needs revision now, in light of the following:
-
Some "Industries" which were small 7/8 years back, have become BIG
-
Some "SunRise" Industries are likely to become BIG in the next 5 years
-
Both of these types will be scalable in terms of:
Industry Turnover
No. of Companies operating in each
No. of Employees in each
We are in the process of developing B2B & B2C websites.
Page IN/2
We have decided that for all 3 websites (viz: B2B / B2C / CustomizeResume),
-
The Company Database will be the SAME
-
The Candidate Database will be the SAME
This means, Employment Registration Forms on all of these will need to be identical.
In fact, in light of discussions we had during my last visit to your office, we must ensure that these databases (Companies & Candidates) remain IDENTICAL for all our future websites (including any old websites to be revived).
This means droplists for:
-
Industry Names
-
Function Names
-
Designation Levels
-
Country Names
-
City Names
-
Edu. Level
-
Degree / Diploma
-
Specialization
-
etc.
Page IN/3
...must remain IDENTICAL on all sites.
It is going to be more and more the case where we capture a particular data on one site and use it in another site.
Example:
-
Candidate Data captured in CustomizeResume will be used in B2C
-
Corporate Data captured in CustomizeResume will be used in B2B
-
Corporate Data captured in any one of these will be used in all three websites
In light of the foregoing, I felt that NOW is the most opportune time to revise:
INDUSTRY-NAME droplist / database
Hence, in enclosed ANNEX, I made a comparison of Industry Names in Naukri & CustomizeResume.
Page IN/4
In Naukri website droplist, I found 10 "Industry Names" which I did not find in our own droplist.
Then concluded that, out of these 10, there are 5 worth adding in our own droplist.
In order not to upset our listing sequence (and ordering numbers), I thought of:
-
Listing these new 5 at the bottom of our droplist
-
Give these Nos. 52 / 53 / 54 / 55 / 56
This way, our existing “Mapping” with Naukri / TimesJobs / ClickJobs need not be re-done.
If you are in agreement, please implement this so that LTIT team can reflect these revised droplists in B2B & B2C website design.
If any discussion is required, I would be happy to come over.
Page IN/5: For Your Consideration
For your consideration:
On second thought, why not add to our droplist all of those 10 "Industry Names" which are currently missing from our list?
Why wait till these industries become BIG? Maybe they are already BIG! Who knows?
Immediate advantage: Adding all these 10 means our LIVE JOBS DATABASE will immediately go up through RSS feeds from Naukri!
Of course, we’ll need to do “Mapping”.
But as mentioned earlier, let us list all of these 10 at the very bottom of our existing droplist, so as not to disturb the numbering/mapping that already exists.
