Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

With regards,

"Who Says Elephants Can’t Dance?"

Enclosed find a few pages from this very readable book.
What can we learn from these pages?

  • IBM was too slow in bringing new products to market (– norm is, one new product every 4/5 years!!)

The joke in the (fast-moving) computer industry was,
"At IBM, products don’t get launched; they escape!"

We are NOT an elephant, so we need to be able to move fast/faster.

Let us launch BETA version of ResuMine/ResuSearch (as WebService – not enterprise) on 15 July 2003.

Let 10 Mumbai-based companies use this beta version free, for the next 3 months, and give us feedback. With those defects fixed and feedback in, improve before launching commercial version on 1 Nov 2003.

Then follow-up with additional versions every 3 months.

Let us have a Sense of Urgency (p.202)

Technical Team

Our current technical team, headed by Kartavya, comprises of:

  • Abhi

  • Reena

  • Regi

  • Sunitha

  • Vikram

  • Deepa

Some more people are planned to be added to the technical team in near future, with a view to launch GLOBAL PEOPLE RESOURCING SYSTEM (GPRS).

GPRS will be launched as a webservice, and comprise of several modules. We expect to launch the first module in 3/4 months’ time.

Since GPRS will be based on .NET technology, some members of the technical team are currently undergoing training.

GPRS webservice will be treated as a separate SBU (Strategic Business Unit), with effect from April 1, 2003. It will develop its own revenue plan / expenditure plan / resource plan / salary structure / incentive schemes / flexible working hours etc. for the financial year 2003/2004.

Whereas the focus of the technical team will be to quickly launch GPRS and start earning revenues at the earliest to become “self-financing”, it will continue to provide help/assistance to the “Executive-Search” SBU in support of the existing systems (Module 1 / Search / OES etc.).

However, modifications to these systems or introduction of new systems will be given low priority.
