Elsewhere, I have already mentioned about

"COMPUTER EDU. INSTITUTIONS DATABASE."

(as per "Institute Profile Form" sent out along with NACT brochure and also uploaded on www.nactindia.com)

I have already asked "Software Algorithm" people to submit their quotation for

• making this form downloadable from 3P's & NACT websites
• fill-up offline
• upload on 3P's website
• automatic creation of a Searchable database
• develop & install an appropriate search engine which would permit search such as:

Please find computer Institutes,

In city: $\rule{3cm}{0.1mm}$ [dropdown]

In state: $\rule{3cm}{0.1mm}$ [dropdown]

} Any one

Offering Courses in: $\rule{5cm}{0.1mm}$ Free Text typing

Subjects/Topics: $\rule{3cm}{0.1mm}$

Refine Search:

• Batch in month of $\rule{3cm}{0.1mm}$
• Fees not to exceed Rs. $\rule{3cm}{0.1mm}$

Display will list the names of the Institutes. Clicking on a name will display full profile of that Institute.

If Software Algorithm's quotation is reasonable and this feature works well, then we should ask same party to develop/install a similar database/search engine on our website for COLLEGES.

I have already designed a very exhaustive form for the Colleges. Perhaps this could be shortened.

Again, we may make the database searchable against only a few fields such as:

• Branch/Discipline $\rule{3cm}{0.1mm}$ free text?
• Edu. Level $\rule{3cm}{0.1mm}$ [dropdown]
• State or City $\rule{3cm}{0.1mm}$ [dropdown]
• University to which affiliated $\rule{3cm}{0.1mm}$ [dropdown]

In the "display table," clicking on the name of the College will reveal full profile of that Institute/College.

For both,

• Computer Edu. Institutes (NACT Members $\quad$ or $\quad$ Any Other non-member)

and

• Colleges,

we would not like to wait for the Concerned Institute/College to find our website/download form/fillup/upload.

We ourselves have an enormous stock of printed books (some 10/12 books) giving partial data on thousands of Computer Institutions & Colleges (of all types). In most cases, all the information that we can get/extract from these books is:

• Name of the Institute
• Address
• Branch/Discipline

For nearly 3000 Colleges & Public Schools, we have already created such a "limited" database & uploaded on our website and also installed a search-software.

We would not like this effort to go waste, when we design & start using a NEW DATABASE STRUCTURE, which

would be much more elaborate.

We would, most certainly want the old data to get automatically (no manual labour) migrated to the new database. This is crucial.

Having migrated & uploaded this OLD data into the NEW FORM, we would like to write to all these Colleges (Institutions) saying

• we have uploaded partial/incomplete data about their college/institute on our website.
• They could log-in/download the form & "edit/complete" the form & then upload it (on their own?).

We may consider sending them their unique Password/User ID/No(?) which they can use to log-in & edit their own profile.

I don't think we can allot "No," since, for many institutes, we have no data at all, & we cannot upload anything – so there is no question of being able to "Edit"!
