Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

With regards,

THE BEAUTY INDEX

36-24-36 (a.k.a. The Beauty Index)

We all know this formula! It is the Male’s definition of a beautiful girl.

Could we possibly evolve a definition of a “Beautiful Resume” – a kind of Beauty Index – which can get accepted Universally? After all, we claim to be developing Global Recruiter!

Forget about globe. Let us see, if we can develop such an Index for Indian Resumes.

It is possible.

And the beauty of this is that, once again, it is a “Byproduct” – which we can get free (i.e., without any additional effort on our part).

But just because it is “free,” does not mean it is “valueless”!

Air is free – but it is “THE MOST VALUABLE” gift of nature!

To create this “priceless gift,” all we need to do is use ISYS,

→ To count total no. of words (all words) in each & every resume

→ To count total no. of “keywords” in each & every resume

Then for each resume, plot the ratio (%):

Total No. of Keywords÷Total No. of Words\text{Total No. of Keywords} \div \text{Total No. of Words}Total No. of Keywords÷Total No. of Words

Shall we call it “SYMMETRY RATIO”?

This ratio will range from 5% to 20% (my guess, but we can easily find out).

Now, let us plot a “frequency distribution” of 100,000 resumes as shown:

(Graph sketched: Symmetry Ratio on X-axis, No. of Resumes on Y-axis with peak around 25,000 resumes in mid-range)

To make the graphs look better (sexier ), we can redraw it as follows:

(Graph: Symmetry Ratio vs No. of Resumes)

  • Left side: “Your resume falls here – you are abnormally ‘skinny’!”
  • Middle peak: Normal range
  • Right side: “Your resume falls here – gets too ‘fat’!”

We can even draw graphs for just the:

→ Total no. of (all) the words contained in a resume and

→ Total no. of keywords contained in a resume

(Graph: Total no. of words vs No. of resumes)

  • Left side: “You are too ‘paucity’ with words”
  • Middle: “You are good – several good balance”
  • Right side: “You are too ‘verbose’”

(Graph: Total no. of keywords used vs No. of resumes)

Of course, as each new/incoming resume gets added to the population the profiles (all 3 graphs) change. But we need not do this dynamically – or even daily.

We can do all this (indexing words/keywords, counting/mapping graphs etc.) in BATCH-MODE, every 5,000 resumes get added to population.

In Butterfly version, we already have 3 pages – of which, one page is solely devoted to FUNCTION EXPOSURE PROFILE.

And in course of time, we will add one (or two?) extra pages for:

→ Salary Profile

→ Designation Profile

And later-on, we will add one more…

RESUME SYMMETRY PROFILE

(which page will incorporate 3 graphs shown above).

All pages will be independent/detachable. This is because a jobseeker may or may not wish to include a particular page when sending Butterfly version to a recruiter.

I am almost certain that no jobseeker would ever want to send to a recruiter, his RESUME SYMMETRY PROFILE.
This is strictly meant for him to help him write a better resume. He can print several “versions” of his resume, then check-out where exactly each version falls on the symmetry profile – and then pick the “BEST fitting” version.

As far as Salary/Designation Profile pages are concerned, he would want to attach/enclose (if these pages make him look good – i.e., if these profiles are flattering!). Otherwise, he would want to hide these pages from the recruiter.

This is the reason behind a MODULAR CONSTRUCTION of Butterfly version.

All along, remember to freely use the word “PERSONAL ANALYTICS” – remember Jason sells.
