RESUME DATABASE CD
For quite a long time, we have
talked about producing a CD containing:
- Our company profile / website home page
- Our resume database residing on our website
(without name/contact info)
- Our resume search engine (software)
- Inquiry form (shopping basket)
The purpose is to educate
Personnel Managers in the subject of
INTERNET-BASED RECRUITING.
An associated purpose is to popularize
our website.
Both purposes should finally lead
to more business.
Originally, I had thought of
printing some 2000 / 3000 CDs at one go and then distribute amongst
Personnel Managers over a period of one month.
Now, I would like to examine the
possibility of producing/printing/preparing just 5 to 10 CDs everyday
(or whenever desired) and distribute over a long period.
…of over ONE YEAR, on an “as
and when needed” basis.
This has following advantages:
- Small investment at a time.
- No huge obsolete stock lying around for a long
time.
- No need for a massive distribution logistics spread
over only 20/30 days.
- A fresh, up-to-date database every time 5/10 CDs
are printed.
- Can be handed over to senior executives visiting
our office daily, or whenever our consultants go out to meet any client.
- Can be distributed amongst participants of
conferences, seminars, exhibitions visited by our consultants.
- Much in the same way as handing over one’s business
card.
In fact, one Indian company
undertakes to manufacture CD-based visiting cards but price is too high and
quantity requirement is also too high.
- Can also be given-out to what I call our “ULTIMATE
CUSTOMERS”, viz.:
- Production Managers / Plant Mgrs / R&D Mgrs
- Design Mgrs / Sales Mgrs / Mktg Mgrs
(In short: all DEPT. HEADS
under whom our candidates join — the bosses who prepare departmental
manpower budgets for the year.)
The HR / Personnel Manager is
merely an Intermediary / an Agent / a Representative of our REAL
CUSTOMERS.
In fact, it is these real
customers who are more likely to be computer-savvy.
They are also having the final ‘Say’ in the selection of a candidate (or
rejection).
An offline resume-search
has also the advantage that even those managers (or even organisations) who do
not have an internet connection can conduct a resume-search.
Once any manager conducts an OFFLINE
resume-search using our CD…
he should be able to create an OFFLINE
shopping basket, and he should be able to forward it to us by any of the
following methods (OPTIONS):
- Get connected to our website through internet →
forward (What about BASKET NO. allotment?)
- Send us the shopping basket through E-MAIL
- Send us the shopping basket as a FAX
- Print out the shopping basket and send through SNAIL-MAIL
(ordinary post)
The above-mentioned features
would have to be built into the CD.
We must give him all the OPTIONS.
I feel we must not create the CD
from our local intranet server (Node 1).
It must be created directly from the DIGITALIZATION SERVER to ensure
total compatibility/integrity of database.
Q: Is there any H/W or
S/W solution which would allow us to create 5/10 CDs in a day and which would
cost less than Rs. 25/- per CD produced?
