Main problems associated with ON-LINE filling-up of different forms are :

#1 ▶ Time–Cost (ISP + HTML / DOT)

#2 ▶ Non-availability of all types of data when you are online. Quite often one needs to continue searching / researching for data.

#3 ▶ Occasionally you need to consult others (re correctness / accuracy of data) before clicking on Submit button. Corporate Profile & Edu Institute Profile fall in this category.

#4 ▶ Low penetration of internet in our country.

In course of 2/3 years, problems #1 + #4 may disappear but
problems #2 / #3 will remain.

It is, therefore, highly desirable that we make it possible for surfers to download these forms, fill up offline, and then upload.

A software company
“SOFTWARE ALGORITHMS”
is offering a ready-made software package for this under brand “e-apply”
(Information sent to Cyril / Mr. Nagle).

We should seriously examine if we could suitably modify this package to serve our purpose.

Following points will need to be taken care of:

▶ Many of our forms have (or will have) long “drop-down” lists e.g.:

• Industry → 204
• Functions → 119
• Designations → 140
• Edu Level → 10
• 7 blocks →
• NACT Members → 5000 (?)
• Colleges → 5000 (?)

How do we solve this problem if forms are downloaded & returned?

▶ Every form has to be allotted a unique serial no. the moment it is uploaded. These must have to be centrally allotted by the server.

▶ Each form has to have a different Serial No. series, clearly identifiable.

▶ Person submitting each form is allotted unique

• PASSWORD
• UserID
  — again centrally by server.

These are required for editing the forms (which can remain online).

▶ Issues connected with downloading of webforms:
e.g., a Partner Placement Agency filling ~100 forms (of a mixed variety — 10 resumes + 20 non-resume + 20 industry + 20 colleges + 15 institutions + 10)
is trying to upload all 100 data entries in the evening!

Also, the answer “Contact Info / Data Blank” not to be filled up online can create issues.
