For quite a long time, we have talked about producing a CD containing:

  • Our company profile / website home page
  • Our resume database residing on our website (without name/contact info)
  • Our resume search engine (software)
  • Inquiry form (shopping basket)

The purpose is to educate Personnel Managers in the subject of
INTERNET-BASED RECRUITING.

An associated purpose is to popularize our website.

Both purposes should finally lead to more business.


Originally, I had thought of printing some 2000 / 3000 CDs at one go and then distribute amongst Personnel Managers over a period of one month.

Now, I would like to examine the possibility of producing/printing/preparing just 5 to 10 CDs everyday (or whenever desired) and distribute over a long period.

…of over ONE YEAR, on an “as and when needed” basis.

This has following advantages:

  • Small investment at a time.
  • No huge obsolete stock lying around for a long time.
  • No need for a massive distribution logistics spread over only 20/30 days.
  • A fresh, up-to-date database every time 5/10 CDs are printed.
  • Can be handed over to senior executives visiting our office daily, or whenever our consultants go out to meet any client.
  • Can be distributed amongst participants of conferences, seminars, exhibitions visited by our consultants.
  • Much in the same way as handing over one’s business card.

In fact, one Indian company undertakes to manufacture CD-based visiting cards but price is too high and quantity requirement is also too high.

  • Can also be given-out to what I call our “ULTIMATE CUSTOMERS”, viz.:
    • Production Managers / Plant Mgrs / R&D Mgrs
    • Design Mgrs / Sales Mgrs / Mktg Mgrs

(In short: all DEPT. HEADS under whom our candidates join — the bosses who prepare departmental manpower budgets for the year.)

 

The HR / Personnel Manager is merely an Intermediary / an Agent / a Representative of our REAL CUSTOMERS.

In fact, it is these real customers who are more likely to be computer-savvy.
They are also having the final ‘Say’ in the selection of a candidate (or rejection).

 

An offline resume-search has also the advantage that even those managers (or even organisations) who do not have an internet connection can conduct a resume-search.

Once any manager conducts an OFFLINE resume-search using our CD…

he should be able to create an OFFLINE shopping basket, and he should be able to forward it to us by any of the following methods (OPTIONS):

  • Get connected to our website through internet → forward (What about BASKET NO. allotment?)
  • Send us the shopping basket through E-MAIL
  • Send us the shopping basket as a FAX
  • Print out the shopping basket and send through SNAIL-MAIL (ordinary post)

The above-mentioned features would have to be built into the CD.
We must give him all the OPTIONS.

I feel we must not create the CD from our local intranet server (Node 1).
It must be created directly from the DIGITALIZATION SERVER to ensure total compatibility/integrity of database.


Q: Is there any H/W or S/W solution which would allow us to create 5/10 CDs in a day and which would cost less than Rs. 25/- per CD produced?

We want to bring about complete transparency in our dealings with Partner Websites. This can happen only if the entire process is thoroughly AUTOMATED – like an e-commerce application.

Partner Websites want to know,

$\triangleright$ How many (and which) shopping baskets arriving from their website, got converted into a Purchase Order? when? from which Corporate Client? for what position? and when will the order get executed (i.e. vacancy get filled?) what would be 3P's estimated Invoice value? what would be partner's share? when would he get that amount?

etc. etc.

$\triangleright$ Who (which jobseeker) got appointed against which shopping basket no.?

$\triangleright$ which Partner website did that Shopping Basket belong to? or at least, did it belong to his website (if we will not tell him

which other website it belonged to).

If the shopping basket did NOT belong to his website, at least, did the concerned "Candidate Resume" come from his website?

Who was that Candidate (Name (PEN), yes, but not which Company he was working in currently).

To be able to make available answers to such "questions" to a partner website in a transparent/automatic way, he should be able to see/view some "structured" tabulations on his own, at anytime, without having to ask us.

We need to expand TRACKING MODULE to take care of this.

This may (will) require integration with our ORDER EXECUTION SYSTEM (under development by APPLITECH).

I enclose some preliminary thoughts re: such tables but I am sure these do not answer all the questions. You will need to develop more tables.

SIMPLIFICATION OF PARTNER KIT

SIMPLIFICATION OF PARTNER-KIT

Our "Partner Websites" program has grown very slowly. There must be many reasons. I feel one of the reasons could be the process of launching a partner website with help of our Partner Kit!

We need to make this process so simple that

  • a non-technical man could launch it
  • the launch could be accomplished in a few minutes
  • there is no need for a website to enter into a lengthy communication with us prior to the launch
  • any (potential / interested) website gets to know how the program works and what benefit/money the website will get and when, and for that what it has to do, all of these directly from our own website, without having to phone us / write to us.

The "working" of the whole program should be available on our website itself

  • to obtain its User ID/Password etc.,

a website can directly fill-up a small & simple PARTNER DATA SHEET directly on our website and get their Password/User ID email from us within 24 hours (after we receive the PARTNER DATA SHEET by email and check-out that the would-be partner website is WORTH making our partner).

In respect of all of the points mentioned above, I have found the "Associate Program" of AMAZON.com to be the best.

Since we have not become their "associate" yet, I have not been able to see/view their special page

ASSOCIATE CENTRAL

where each partner can see/view STATISTICS pertaining to his own website.

We should see this page (and learn from it), even if it means that we have to become an "Associate" of Amazon.com. I strongly recommend this.

But there is one respect in which we should do better than Amazon.

This is in respect of PARTNER STATISTICS TABULATIONS.

A potential/interested partner should be able to see/view BEFOREHAND, all the (blank) tabulations, so that

  • he knows (and does not have to guess) what all statistics will he get to see about the business that he will bring to us thru his website
  • he is convinced about our transparency (no golmal!). He does not have to take our word for it!

We could even "populate" this DEMO TABULATIONS with some fictitious figures to give an appearance of reality / authenticity!

I think this feature itself will become a big factor in convincing potential/interested partners to join our program.

If there are some websites, which still want to give a unique/different /own "look" to the pages that they pull from our server, we could give them our existing partner-kit (but with just one template – not 26 templates!). In this case, could we consider that the template incorporates our own SIDE BAR?

If this could be done, a visitor could get to see our entire site - and not just a few pages of our site.

For Cyber Cafes / Partner websites and Placement Agencies, we also wish to introduce a payment of Rs. 5/= for each resume coming thru them, provided the resume belongs to EXPERIENCED IT-Professional.

This scheme (incentive) will apply only for the first 12 months (from date of becoming an ALLY).

This payment will be in addition to whatever each partner is entitled to (as % of our fees) in case of "placement/appointment" of his candidate.

Once a person submits his resume on our website (even thru one of our Partner websites) and activates the "job-alert" feature, he would, thereafter, receive an email alert, everytime some Company posts a job-advt. on our website which "matches" the profile of the jobseeker.

This email alert will be sent out once-a-day, everytime there is a "match". Of course, if a jobseeker does NOT want to receive such email alerts, he could come back to our website and "edit" his resume (i.e. deactivate the alert button $\text{\text{\text{X}}}$).

Besides this, everytime an online recruiter on our website "shortlists" a resume, the concerned candidate will receive an email from us! This will

tell him, how much persons with his edu. qualification/skills/experience, are in demand!
