Renaming / Restructuring of Industry – Name

Rajeev has developed a Software Tool called “Compiler” for the purpose of assigning / allotting appropriate “Industry – Names” (more than one, if required) to Companies/Corporate Bodies.

In this tool, he has loaded some 42000 Indian Company Names (only “limited” Companies). You may want to look at this tool. It is part of our effort to create a “Knowledge-Base”.

However, before we ask an expert to start assigning/alloting “Industry-Names” to these 42000 Companies, I thought we should take a fresh look at our standard list of “Industry - Names”, which appears as a dropdown list on our website as well as in Module 1.

As of today, we have

-          204 Industry-Names in “Non-IT”

-          4 Industry-Names in “IT”

I asked Abhi to give me a list of No. of resumes industry-name wise. This would cover, both

          Webform resumes

           (Where Candidate himself chose the Industry-Name)

         E-mail resumes

(where our D/E operators assigned appropriate Industry-Name, while entering such resume in     Module 1)

Abhi’s list was quite revealing !

There were dozens of Industry-Names against or received very few resumes during the last 2 years!

The question arose”

“Why keep/maintain such Industry Names at all ? Why not, either drop these altogether or at least merge these into some other Industry-Name which is more representative/more broad/more generic ?”.

 

I undertook such an exercise and enclose my findings.

I could bring down the number of Industry-Name from 208 to                  .

Of course, I did retain some as independent Industry-Names, despite the fact that we had received only a few resumes against these names. These are major and/or Sunrise Industries in our national economy and merit independent listing.

Before we proceed to replace the old list (of 208 Industry Names) with the new list on our website/module 1 / compiler tool etc. – as also regroup the resumes, - I would like to receive your view/opinion. Can I have this by Saturday, 22^nd ?
