Enclosed below is revised “Tabulation” of Jobs Summary. You will notice that I have removed columns of “Ind. & Function”, in order to accommodate “Advertiser’s email ID”. Without Advertiser’s email ID, it would become nearly impossible for a jobseeker to benefit from this summary.
To obtain this email ID, he would end up visiting each jobsite to locate that particular advt. & then obtain email ID. This would take hours!
And then, how on earth can he locate the job Advt. – since the job-advt. No (AM 30294 etc.) are OUR numbers & not the number given by the advertiser or the jobsite!
If the cybercafe has to be placed in a position where it can generate “extra” revenue using FREE content supplied by us, then the TABULATION has
to contain “Value”, for which the jobseeker/surfer is willing to pay Rs. 5/10 to cybercafe owner.
By providing Advertiser’s email ID (next to the Advertiser’s name), we are providing that “Value” – (besides raising our credibility with cybercafe owner as well as with jobseeker). Now the tabulation contains all essential info, based on which, a jobseeker can straight-away “apply” without having to visit the “source jobsite”.
Position Name would give him a fair idea of:
-
Function
-
Designation-Level
and Advertiser’s (company) Name, would tell him, which “Industry”.
But, you will ask,
“Where IS the value-proposition for ourselves? Only very indirectly, we are hinting to the surfers to send their email resumes to us for processing – hoping that many will send and that would help build up our resume-database of 1 million resumes. But there is a distinct possibility that only a few may…
send their resumes for processing. Then our main objective is unmet.”
This may very well happen and our main objective remains unfulfilled.
On the other hand (other extreme),
If lots of Surfers get their resumes processed by us and then, they use these BUTTERFLY resumes again & again, every time they apply for a job, then there is a distinct possibility that, in a year, 5000 corporates may receive, between them, 500,000 Butterfly resumes from 50,000 candidates. This constant “bombarding” of Butterfly resumes will make these corporates aware of our webservice (because, at the bottom, each converted resume carries an announcement).
Once again, riding piggy-back on the job-
applications/resumes of thousands of candidates, we will manage to reach out to our potential (corporate) clients – again at very little cost!
So, we are (in a very subtle manner), planting an idea in the minds of these executives, to send in their own resume to 3P & get it processed, to see how it looks!
Just as a virus propagates thru air or water, we want that the concept of “Butterfly” resume, propagates by “Sight” (i.e. seeing) & “Sound” (executives/candidates discussing amongst themselves the merits of Butterfly resumes).
Within itself, project CYBER has the potential to make our Global Recruiter THE INDUSTRY STANDARD. Let us unleash this potential & do it FAST.
Deepa has already found email ID of 270 cybercafes, with whom, we should make a beginning on 5th May.

Project CYBER
This is continuation of my yesterday’s note on Project EGO.
In trying to get a million resumes in 4/5 months, we may be chasing a rainbow – but then, history should not laugh at us for failing to seize an opportunity, or failure to recognize an opportunity when it presented itself!
For example,
When IBM approached Steve Jobs to license his Macintosh operating system to IBM, he rejected the offer – while Microsoft obliged. IBM had no choice but to accept the inferior operating system of MS and going ahead. Steve Jobs recognized the opportunity too late – piggybacking on the shoulders of giant IBM, today he could have been lionized instead of Bill Gates!
History is unforgiving & unchangeable!
Our own situation is somewhat similar. We too may be at the cross-roads of history. What action we dare to take, will decide whether we end up at the TOP or at the BOTTOM!
A million resumes will make that difference.
So, we will leave no stone unturned. But it would be nice, if we can accurately guess, which stones to unturn!
To get a million resumes, we must find ways/methods to induce the jobseeker to send us their resumes.
This is where Project CYBER comes in.
We know, there are over 50,000 Cybercafes in India & the no. is growing rapidly (because millions of Indians cannot afford either a phone line, or a PC at home, to be able to connect to Internet).
-
We also know that of all the Indian web-surfers, more than 40% surf from their nearest cybercafe.
-
Surfing from cybercafe works out cheaper.
-
Most cybercafe surfers are “jobseekers.”
So, we know where we can find millions of jobseekers.
And they are all looking for “Jobs” & mostly surfing jobsites in search of jobs.
But searching for jobs on several jobsites can be time-consuming – and costly.
Then there is the question of submitting your resume on several jobsites (in structured forms) – so that you can click on APPLY ONLINE.
That also means remembering several passwords (User ID).
And then you must log in all the jobsites EVERYDAY to find out NEW ARRIVALS of jobs – a very expensive proposition. And there is no guarantee that you will succeed in locating the NEW ARRIVALS amongst thousands of jobs being advertised.
All-in-all, this could be a very frustrating exercise.
Is there a way by which we can make a jobseeker’s life simple & reduce his cost?
Sajida is already sending us some 150 job-advt’s daily. She will step it upto 200/300 within a month.
We are converting these into a STRUCTURED database, so that we can compile/recompile in many different ways.
We can daily email such a TABULATION to the cybercafes along with a covering letter (see ANNEX A).
Cybercafe owner may sell this tabulation to jobseeker for Rs. 2/3 (an additional source of revenue for cybercafe owner – from content supplied by us free!).
Or he may give it away FREE – if he finds that now jobseekers are spending more time on his PCs & giving him more revenues.
He may display this tabulation next to each machine.
When jobseekers come across a “suitable/interesting” job in the tabulation, he logs in & emails his resume to 3P mentioning JOB-ADVT NO against which he is applying.
So if he wants to apply against 5 job-advt’s, he has to repeat the process 5 times.
Of course, this will FLOOD our email server – swamp it literally.
But, if it creates more revenue for the cybercafe owner! Unless he sees -
more & more revenue accruing to him, by displaying our TABULATION in his cybercafe prominently, why would he/should he cooperate with us?
If we want each Cybercafe owner to promote our (hidden) agenda, then he must get convinced that in doing so, he will earn a lot of revenue!!
As far as jobseekers, who visit the cybercafe, they get a DAILY summary of jobs appearing on various websites. They don’t have to spend time visiting so many websites everyday, to find out if there are any NEW jobs which are interesting.
There can also be “duplications” of a Corporate’s jobs if on 4 websites!
But over a period of time, these deficiencies can be removed.
Important thing is to make a beginning without too much agonizing / too much waiting for perfection!
If we wait, Opportunity will be lost & history may pity us!!

EGO (c.butterfly@3pjobs.com)
Once jobseekers from Cybercafes start sending their email resumes to us, once again Project EGO takes over.
To launch Project CYBER, we are ready with everything that we need:
-
Daily summary of Jobs (from Manhattan)
-
Email IDs of some 50/60 Cybercafes, who are our PARTNER CYBERCAFES.(Obtaining email IDs of 50,000 cybercafes may take time but not impossible)
-
Covering Letter (see ANNEX)
-
E-Mail Server / (New Mail Box)
-
Resumline Processor.
These are OUR advantages.
“What-is-in-it?” for
-
Cybercafe —— More Revenue thru free content (especially, if neighbouring cybercafe is NOT on our mailing list!). He can use our daily MAILER to attract/wean away surfers from nearby COMPETITORS.
-
Jobseeker —— Reduced hassle / Low cost / Daily update / One-stop shopping.
When can we start?
ANNEX: A
Dear CyberCafe Owner:
Make More Money
We can help you make more money than your neighbouring competing cybercafes.
If you implement our suggestion, all the surfers from your neighbouring cybercafes will start visiting your cybercafe – and bring you lots of revenue.
We will email to you a daily summary of jobs being advertised on leading jobsites. We will do this everyday. All you need to do is display this summary prominently (somewhere where it gets noticed!) in your cybercafe.
This valuable CONTENT will be emailed to you daily, FREE-OF-COST / OBLIGATION.
So, if Cybercafe Surfers are searching for jobs & applying online, you will be able to provide them a ready-made summary to help them decide, which attractive jobs to apply. You are giving them a great service.
These jobseekers will use your cybercafe to apply (send their resumes and the applications). For each job, they will need to send their resume separately – so you will get their business. You will make more money, much more than your neighbouring cybercafe, who too discovers about our free service. So don’t wait!
If interested, please let us know.
With regards,
3P

Notes:
-
To impart authenticity/credibility, it is vital to mention the name of the advertiser Company, and the source (eg. Naukri / JobsAhead etc.). How else can a jobseeker get convinced that we are listing REAL jobs?
-
Since the job-advt’s are Public Domain info, we are not violating any copyrights/Intellectual Property rights. We are not tampering, altering, or misrepresenting the content. We are not claiming “content belongs to us.” We are only re-making presentation.
Nowhere we are saying/implying (even indirectly) that
• We (3P) have been “retained” by Advertisers
• Applications should be sent to us.-
If anything, we are doing a great favour to the advertisers by broadcasting their advts to cybercafes, so as to reach thousands of jobseekers who might otherwise miss these! We are, in fact, helping to increase their “response” – absolutely FREE-OF-COST! They should thank us!!
-
We are not preventing the jobseekers to log into the “source websites,” locate actual/full job-advt, find email ID of the advertiser and then, apply directly. In fact, we are encouraging the jobseekers to email their resumes directly to the advertisers – after they get it transformed by our software! Even this suggestion is being made with the NOBLE intention to help the jobseekers – so that his resume gets “noticed.”
Question → How/where will you find the email IDs of 50,000 cybercafes? This database is crucial to the success of our project CYBER!
Ans:
-
You could go to various Search Engines (including Indian search engines) and type:
• “Cybercafe + India”
• “Cybercafe + India + Association”If you discover that a “Cybercafe Association of India” exists, it may be relatively easier, to get a listing of their members with email IDs.
There are several cybercafes on Manok Maroshi Road. You may ask, if any, knows the existence of such an Association.
-
Cybercafes (as a group) are major “clients” of ISPs. So it is possible that major ISPs may have a full-time executive (marketing) in charge of Cybercafes only. If you can penetrate ISPs, you can get email IDs of all cybercafes, at one stroke.
-
Independent Database Vendors (like Vipul Zaveri & 2/3 parties who keep sending us circulars re: email databases), could be another source.
-
All cybercafes may be paying Income Tax – in which case ITO would have a database!
-
Under Internet Security Law, Cybercafes are supposed to be registered with POLICE – and maintain a register of visitors – which Cyberpolice can examine. So Cyberpolice would be yet another source.

Lessons To Be Learnt! (Reliance / Sify)
#1 → Content created by ISCE / CBSE Boards – maybe Reliance & Sify managed to get it free!
-
Content has “time-bound” but great interest to students & their parents. Content (% marks) literally predicts future/admission.
-
Both Reliance/Sify spent nothing on content-creation!
#2 → What does RLL / Sify get out of this service?
-
Possibly a larger no. of subscribers. You have to be an I-Way “member” or to log into Sify.com, you have to give Sify some demographic data about yourself viz: Name/Addl/Email/Age/Sex etc. I suppose Reliance also asks for similar info about you when you buy their cell-phone/become a subscriber. So, both get valuable info about you in exchange for providing you online results. These info (especially email ID) will give them “right” to send you emails in future to promote their other products/services.
-
Since you have given your email ID voluntarily (without carefully reading “terms” in very small fonts!), you have agreed to receive from them, email messages in future! This is not spam!
-
Both may even earn some money from delivering this content. Reliance may bill you, prepaid or postpaid. In case of Sify, their I-Way cybercafe franchisee would certainly charge something to the surfer to log in. So Sify will get its commission even on the “printing-out marksheets” service. There is no “free lunch”!
-
Both have huge underutilized broadband network. With lakhs of students/parents logging in, their installed capacity utilization will go up sharply! This will tremendously boost BRAND-AWARENESS amongst young generation, who decide family spending patterns.
#4 → Convenience
Students/parents do not have to go & crowd the college corridors. They can safely plan their vacation from Kerala to Kashmir & get the result delivered to them, wherever they happen to be! You are no more tied/tethered to your hometown/college!
On first day, college notice-boards only inform you whether you have “passed” or “failed” (by your seat no. being absent) and if you have passed, then in which class (first class/second class etc). I don’t know if these things have changed now. For getting detailed “subject-wise marksheet” you had to pay-up some “charge” & come back after a few days!
With help of digital technology (telecom/internet), Reliance & Sify have “telescoped” the entire process to “one-stop-shopping”! From any convenient location, a group of friends can download & “compare” their results instantaneously – and celebrate!
By making available “subject-wise marksheets” on-the-spot, both Reliance & Sify have made it possible for students to apply for admissions to a large no. of colleges, much earlier than before.
From these tiny news-items, we can learn a lot. We can see the “strategies” employed by Reliance/Sify.
They have succeeded in convincing the ISCE/CBSE Boards that they (Rel/Sify) are NOT “competing” with the Boards. They must have convinced—
these BOARDS, that the real job of the BOARDS, is to conduct exams & evaluate students.
“Delivering” of results is not their job! – nor do they have any real competence in this area. In fact they are ill-equipped to undertake “delivery” and that Reliance/Sify are the ULTIMATE delivery-channels! So, if the BOARDS were to agree to “co-operate/collaborate” with Reliance/Sify, this (delivery) “weakness” of the BOARDS can be overcome overnight! And, in any case, for years together, BOARDS have been making available these “results” to reputed Newspapers, one day in advance. But newspapers had a limited reach. So, the BOARDS are not breaking any rules, by giving the results in advance to Reliance/Sify – who represent the NEW/LATEST ELECTRONIC MEDIA.
Whereas no newspaper could print subjectwise, detailed marksheets of lakhs of students, for the sake of “instant availability” – (even if this was legally permitted – which I don’t think is), this is a very simple thing for a database server belonging to Reliance/Sify. So, why should BOARDS burden themselves with printing of lakhs of marksheets (a very costly & time consuming affair) AND further undertake to “distribute” these to thousands of college principals (under fear of “leakage”!) A huge logistics problem. Just entrust the database to us & sit back & relax!
Here, there are lessons to be learned for our Global Recruiter / Webemic / Job alerts on cellphones / Career-graphs / Salary-graphs / What else?
