LINKRDIN PROFILE LINKING

Newspaper Clipping (TOI, dated 8/12/12):

Now, your online profiles decide interview calls
New York: Employers turn to social media sites like Facebook when deciding whether to even call a job candidate for an interview, according to a new study.
Research from a global security software company discovered that more than 90% of human resources professionals search for unprotected social media sites to assess a candidate’s suitability.
One finding: Improper photos can reduce a job seeker’s chance of even getting an interview call, BusinessNewsDaily reported.
The study was based on surveys of 230 human resources professionals in the United States and the United Kingdom, and 4,400 job seekers between the ages of 18 and 25. Researchers found that job candidates who display inappropriate photos on their social media profiles reduce their chances of securing an interview by 84%, while 90% of human resources managers considered nude photos a reason to not set up an interview.
Other actions seen on social media that can cost job candidates employment opportunities include evidence of drug or alcohol abuse, racist or extremist views about topics such as race.
Overall, nearly 50% of the hiring managers surveyed have turned down a job applicant because of their online profile.

Handwritten Notes:

Shuklendu,
At present, Candidate Profiles on our site, links a candidate’s name to Google, which throws up hundreds (or thousands) of results.
A recruiter would need to open/read many links before finding any “useful” info about the candidate.
I am aware that 3P’s consultants/researchers do a lot of “searching” on Facebook and LinkedIn.
In fact, LinkedIn has ceased to be a Social Media site and has turned into a job portal (rather, a Resume Portal) for Senior Executives.
LinkedIn’s main source of revenue is from recruiting agencies / employers.
Is there a way we can hyperlink a candidate’s name to the “Un-protected” portion of Facebook/LinkedIn?
Or, in “Submit Resume” introduce a **Voluntary Field** for candidate to grant us “Accessto their profile.
