“Submit Resume” Forms
Submit Resume Forms (Technical Details)
-
In order not to reveal any link with www.CustomizeResume.com,“Submit Resume” forms will need to be displayed on the IIT website.
-
What about “Submit Resume” form for Experienced Professionals? This form is in 5 stages and leads to:
-
Generation of graphs
-
Customization of graphs (see “Live Demo” link)
-
Saving/storing of 3 versions online
-
Downloading by candidate
-
I recollect Prof Rahul Deshmukh suggesting:
“This (generation/customization of graphs) is a very interesting/unique feature. We may enable a candidate to generate/customize/download any number of “Customized Versions” on-the-fly, without saving/storing on our server. Candidate may download and save on his PC/tablet. When a candidate “applies” thru widget, our server will email to the concerned employer only the text resume.”
Optional Fields and Ad Mechanism
While on the subject of “Submit Resume” forms, shall we add following OPTIONAL fields?
-
Aadhar Card Number
-
Permission to “access” Facebook Profile
-
Reference of 2 College Professors
-
Uploading of Mark-Sheets (year-wise)
-
Photo
-
Admission Procedures
-
Fees
-
Disciplines
-
Hostel Facilities
Promotional Content for IITs via My Job Alerts Widget
-
Distance Education Programs
-
Research Programs / Fellowships
-
Entrepreneurial Development Programs
-
Mood Indigo / Tech Fest
-
600 hours of Course Videos … etc.
Even other IITs / IIMs / Colleges can be invited to place their ads on “My Job Alerts” widget.
Clicking / watching / closing these IIT-generated ads by students will create huge awareness about IIT’s activities, not only amongst engineering students but among all 3.5 million students graduating each year from all Indian colleges.
Point 7: Removing Applied / Not Applied Tabs
What about “Applied” / “Not Applied” tabs?
Can we eliminate these altogether?
On the Jobs Displayed screen, when a candidate touches either APPLY or EXIT buttons, shall we automatically delete the already displayed jobs?
Scan 6
Point 8: Device Compatibility
A non-commercial version of “My Job Alerts” should be developed for both tablets and smartphones.
Point 9: Full Job Advertisement
IIT version should show FULL job advertisement upon long press.
Point 10: EDIT RESUME Feature
Users of the IIT version would most certainly expect this feature because:
-
After a few months, a student will pass final year exams and want to update their resume.
-
After a couple of years, they will no longer be “Fresh Graduates” and will become “Experienced Professionals.”
Scan 7
Point 10 continued: Resume Updates
The user will want to EDIT their resume so that “Matched and Delivered” jobs reflect newly acquired skills.
Point 11: No Employer Features on IIT Website
-
Post Jobs
-
Search Resumes
Point 12: Not a Job Portal
Despite displaying “Submit Resume” forms (including EDIT), the IIT website is not a job portal and shall not have other candidate-related features, such as:
-
Job Search and Apply Online
-
Blast Your Resume
-
Job Alert Summary / Details
Point 13: Bilingual Interface
English / Hindi Languages
Scan 8
If not all major Indian languages, “My Job Alerts” should at least render screens in English and Hindi.
If this requires changes in CustomizeResume.com, we should make them.
Reason:
Over the next 5 years, the Government of India (and State Governments) plan to distribute free:
-
220 million tablets
-
400 million smartphones (Aadhar linked)
We should enable ALL these users to download/use “My Job Alerts”!
Point 14: Viral Marketing by Users
Getting Users to market “My Job Alerts”
No amount of marketing by IIT / RecruitGuru can match the publicity/promotion that the users themselves can create.
Examples:
The world’s most famous/popular web services (Google, Yahoo, Amazon, Facebook, YouTube, Hotmail, Skype, TrueCaller, etc.) hardly spent any time or money on marketing.
Would you like this information arranged into a formal document or table format for sharing or publishing?
Almost all of them took advantage of the “Law of Network Externalities”
The more people joined / used, the more these services became “Useful”
They managed “Viral Marketing” thru “Word of Mouth” buzz on part of users
While being acutely conscious that “My Job Alerts” has a limited appeal (viz; Jobseekers), I suggest we seriously consider incorporating following features in “My Job Alerts”:
-
➤ A cookie that will pick-up the CONTACTS details from the user’s smart phone / tablet and then display the NAMES in a separate screen of the widget. Shuklendu is planning to incorporate such a Cookie in our next app RESUME BLASTER
-
➤ On this screen (to be titled, “Your Contacts”), the “No of Jobs Applied” will be shown against the names, if those contacts are also users of My Job Alerts
-
➤ The names will be arranged in the descending order of the “No of Jobs Applied” counter
-
➤ Touching any NAME on this screen will dial that person’s mobile no
-
➤ Against each name, there will also be a symbol of an envelope for sending SMS
-
➤ Any time one of my contacts logs in thru his widget, a message will flash on my widget-screen, if I too am using the widget at the same time
-
➤ As soon as I login thru widget, a screen will show me which of my contacts are ONLINE at that very moment
-
➤ As a user, I should be able to share “My Job Alerts” APK file with my contacts, using “MyAppSharer”, from within the widget
-
➤ If I see some job-advt on my screen which, I think, my contact AJAY could be interested in, I should be able to “Select” such job (or jobs), then select AJAY from my “Your Contacts” screen and touch a FORWARD button. These jobs will get displayed on AJAY’s widget screen.
-
➤ This ability to “Exchange” jobs amongst contacts, will motivate all of my friends to download / install, “My Job Alerts” — in the same way Skype / WhatsApp work
These are some of my initial thoughts.
I am sure you will come up with even far more “radical / innovative” ideas when we sit down to discuss.
