BROADCASTING OF JOB ADVTS

Broadcasting of Job-Aduts

Abhi says he has already "automated" this process. But this still requires to "manually" forward the job-aduts (to Abhi?) after deleting

  • Advertiser's name/contact info.

Vinod/Abhi will look into this and try to "automate" this part as well, so that Sheetal does not come into picture at all.

On your part what you need to do, is to regularly handover to Abhi, new e-mail addresses (of Colleges / Cybercafes / Comp. Edu. Inst.) which you continue to compile, so that these databases keep growing. If any emails bounce, Abhi will get someone to delete these.

This still leaves one question unanswered (as far as automating is concerned):

Which job-aduts should be broadcast

to which target readership? (i.e. Logic).

Colleges

Obviously students are interested only in "entry-level" job-aduts., which require no experience on part of the applicants and would consider "freshers".

Thousands of Companies recruit "fresh graduates" every year as

  • GET (Graduate Engineer Trainees)
  • PGET (Post-Grad. " ")
  • DET (Diploma " ")
  • Commercial Trainees (B.A/B.Com/B.Sc)
  • Apprentices / Craftsmen Trainees (students who join ITI = Industrial Training Institutes, after $10^{th}/12^{th}$ standard, undergo a Craft" course & pass NCTVT exam)

NCTVT

  • = National Certificate in Trade & Vocational Training.
  • Management Trainees (MBA's)

etc etc.

These Companies either advertise these jobs in print-media or

go to College-campuses for recruitment.

Our job is to automatically "broadcast" all such "entry-level" jobs to all the Colleges / IITs etc.

Unfortunately, as of today, we have no provision on our website for Corporates to Post Entry-Level Job Adut.

In my latest WISH-LIST given to Mustafa, I have included this requirement and also proposed a

SUBMIT YOUR JOB ADUT FORM

(Entry-Level Jobs).

I request you to look at this form critically and tell me whether it will meet the needs of the Companies (recruiters) who need "freshers". If you want to make any changes, please comment fast.

I have also included a form for DISPLAY of JOB-SEARCH RESULTS

& a form for

"JOB-SEARCH" itself

(all for entry-level jobs).

Since Vinod will be our "interface" with Vxceed team (Mustafa), all of your suggestions must be conveyed thru Vinod only.

Till this "Entry-level Job Adut" form gets ready and installed, Robin must use the existing forms (IT & Non-IT) to create entry-level job-aduts, picked-up from newspapers

or

talking to potential employers (as in case of "call-centre" requirements of GE / Rajiv Kapoor / Reliance and many others).

By next week-end, Robin should create / upload 8/10 such entry-level job aduts on our website & broadcast the same to Colleges.

With help of Abhi, he should "sub-contract" this work to outside party.

CYBER-CAFES

These are visited by both, freshers & experienced persons. so Sanjeev can (and should)

broadcast all types of job-aduts to cybercafes (IT & Non-IT).

COMPUTER EDU. INSTITUTIONS (Chaitrali):

To these, we should broadcast only IT-related job-aduts, but these should cover

  • IT-Professionals (Experienced)
  • IT- " (Freshers).

i.e. Entry-level IT-Jobs for which, we should have a separate "POST JOB ADVT" form (Attn: Mustafa).

And Chaitrali must not bother whether a particular Comp. Edu. Institute is a member of "NACT or not. She should "broadcast" to all the Institutes covered in floppies collected by Abhi from Mr. Lulla (NACT).

Abhi will also install a "fax-server" software before next week-end, so that we could broadcast to those Colleges / Cybercafes / Comp. Edu. Institutions which have a fax no. but not an email address.

One Sanskrit shloka reads;

"भृतिव केशेषु मृत्युना धर्ममाचरेत्"

translated

"one must practice religion, as if one's hair are grabbed by death"

The goal of all of our Partner Programs is to get a hell-of-a-lot of resumes on our website. This is the (desired) end.

"Signing-up of partners (getting their consent-letters & uploading on our website & Sending chartas etc) is merely a

MEANS (to an END)

And "means" have no independent existence! "means" exist only if the "ends" are achieved - being achieved.

Therefore,

even as you are trying to sign-up a lot of "partners", you must not lose track of your ultimate objective i.e. to get that partner to send-in a lot of resumes. Unproductive partnerships must be "pulled-up" by vigorous follow-up - and terminated, if "ends" are not met.

Resumes

I enclosed a statement of resumes received thru various partner websites so far. This is a miserable performance!

Please prepare such a statement on the $1^{st}$ of every month & give me. With the help of this statement, I will help you to draft / send-out appropriate letters/emails to each partner website (or a group of websites), along-the line of the emails which you sent-out last week.

This (follow-up) must be carried-out "religiously" on $1^{st}$ of each month.

But this "monthly" routine follow-up does not mean that, for the rest of 30 days, we can afford to relax/take it easy!

Selectively you must follow-up with each partner every second, third day and ask them what specific steps they have taken/ planning to take to boost the daily arrival of resumes thru their respective websites.

If telephonic "motivation" does not work, you must visit them & talk to their CEOs and ask specific questions.

This will also give you an opportunity to get an early warning in case if any one of these DOT-COMS is planning to close down! If any one of them, does actually close down, all of our effort goes waste.

I refer you to the copy of my note to Sanjeev/Robin, a few days back (Jan 13), in which I have said that the bottomline is

"NO. OF RESUMES RECD. THRU A PARTNER EACH DAY"

This equally applies to Partner websites as well.

No. of resumes received everyday is far more important than the no. of partner websites which join/launch our program. Thru all alliances, we must reach a figure of 1000 resumes/day by June 2001. This will require equally vigorous follow-up with NACT members.

Performance Targets

Some 10 days back it was decided that both of you will draw-up your monthly performance targets and give me before the $15^{th}$ inst.

I look forward to receive these (Targets) on Monday morning when, we will freeze these after discussion.

Please use enclosed chart (make extra copies before filling-in) for the purpose.

As you would have noticed, there are 3 criteria viz:

(1) Proposals Sent out

(2) Agreements Signed

(3) Resumes received

The ultimate objective is to get resumes. The primary performance criteria.

Sending out proposals & Signing-up of Agreements are merely steps/activities

leading upto the final result

Viz: How many resumes did we get?

Of course, you need to take these steps/ engage into these activities, in order to reach the final step/the ultimate goal of getting a large no. of resumes.

There is bound to be a distinct co-relation between

  • how many proposals you sent out

$\downarrow$

  • how many agreements you signed

$\downarrow$

  • how many resumes you received

Statistically speaking,

Larger no. of Proposals $\to$ Larger no. of Agreements $\to$ Larger no. of resumes

But this is not an escalator where, once you stand on step #1, you will automatically reach the top! - without any further effort.

These activities are more like a ladder, where, you have to put in a lot of effort to climb-up to the next step.

So there is no question of relaxing!

Nothing will ever happen on its own, automatically, just because

  • You send out 10000 proposals
  • Sign-up 1000 agreements

As I said earlier, these steps are "pre-requisites". You have to go thru these.

You will need to visit a lot of Colleges / Cybercafes and convince them across the table.

You will need to demonstrate.

You will need to do a lot of

"Concept-selling".

You may not need to spend more than 5 days in a month to send-out proposals. Rest 20

days must be spent VISITING / CONVINCING / COLLECTING CONSENT-LETTERS / UP-LOADING NAMES ON OUR WEBSITE THRU ADMIN TOOL

and, most importantly

checking daily / weekly / monthly, how many resumes have actually arrived from each source

and

Giving fast / prompt "feedback" (mostly over phone/email) on why the response is not good enough and

asking College / Cybercafe, what steps it is taking to step-up the flow of resumes

and

Offering whatever help they need from you in this regard.

and

giving that help / assistance.

I suggest at least once-a-day (preferably first thing every morning), you meet me for 10 minutes to

  • review your daily performance
  • review your "plans" for the day

While fixing your targets, please clearly write-down

  • how many colleges / cybercafes there are in
    • Mumbai
    • Country

} Size of Market?

  • What "share" (%) of this market you plan to capture by year-end (= and month by month).
  • How many students study in all of these Colleges / how many surfers visit all of these Cybercafes.

Only such clear/quantitative figures can help you fix your targets.
