Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

With regards,

DRAG & DROP METHOD TO CREATE CONVERTED BIO - DATA

Yogesh

This has ref. to our discussion on 16th Inst
 In this Connection, I enclose”
. List of "Most commonly found FIELDS"
. List of "Occasionally Appearing FIELDS"

I have picked these out based on enclosed 10 biodatas. If we go thru, say 100 bio data’s, maybe we can add a few more fields.
I also enclose
    . 10 Original biodatas
    . 10 Converted biodatas

On the original bio - data’s, I have tried to "mark - out" those words or paragraphs which "correspond" to various "fields". These paragraphs have to be "Dragged and Dropped" into appropriate fields. We could use the two lists enclosed like a COMBO Box against which we can "Click", once we have encircled a particular paragraph.
As far as the "Layout" of the converted biodata is concerned, you are welcome to experiment and come - up with any one (or more) layouts which are superior to the one we are currently using. The whole idea is to vastly improve presentation.
I am aware that inkjet/ Laser printers would certainly improve matters. However, for the time being, please base your experimentation on DM Printer (NLQ). When funds permit, we would change - over to fast - speed laser printer. We may even consider fast - speed inkjet printers which would permit us to use bright - colored links for
       - Borders (of blocks)
       - Titles / Sub links

But this would have to wait. You are welcome to experiment and find out the exact time (in practical use) it takes to print a given (say 3 page) converted bio - data
       . On DMP
. On our existing addressed are
(A) If there is incomplete data, what do we do?
Eg.In the enclosed converted biodatas, you will find that, as far as
       . "Edu. Quali". block    and
       . "Past Exp" block
are concerned,
sometimes there are 2 Columns and Sometimes there are 3 Columns. This is because data is unavailable.
this is also true of the First block, where, quite often, "age" data is missing.
(N. B.  Since "age" goes up every year best thing is to replace it with "Birth Date").
This way, we will not have to worry if we are printing the same bio data after 2 years.
Once thing is clear. If data is unavailable, we have to modify the blocks (3 columns - 2 columns)
(B) Once we have "dragged" (or clicked) a paragraph into the relevant filed how were do - arrange it into "box" form?
Please remember, I am not hanging - up on the box - form.
I know it is "easy" on the eyes, it is improves comprehensive (i.e. Understanding the meaning).
But if you are able to come - up with a simpler (and therefore more elegant) arrangement of the same data, I would not mind dropping the "box" format.
The only disadvantage (of the box - format) that I could see is the "TIME" it might take to drag little, little bits and pieces of data and place them in relevant boxes.
If we could somehow overcome the "TIME" problem,
i.e. If we are able to make the entire "DRAG - DROP - REARANGE IN BOXES" Operation fast enough, then the box format, arrangement definitely seems superior and should be retained. But if not, feel free to experiment.
(C) Operators will make mistakes and place (drag) data into WRONG boxes and later realise their mistake. There   should be provision to "Re - Click" or "Re - drag" to the right field.
(D) Over Screen may look like

If we vertically divide the screen in 2 half’s, I wonder whether the OCRed bio - data appearing in left half (earlier showing on page 2 of this note) would be large enough to read easily. "Ease of Reading" is ESSENTIAL for quick understanding & dragging.
Drag and drop (also available under ISYS) method of reconstructing/ converting an OCRed bio data is only a temporary (Stop - Gap) arrangement till yourself/ CYRIL complete ARDIS / ARGIS.
Hence, do not spend much time on this to make it "perfect". Under this "stop - gap" arrangement, I am not bothered if two different bio data’s, when converted, look different  and do not follow the same "format structure".
To repeat, the most important aspect in this stop - gap arrangement is to improve the presentation something   which most candidates do not pay any attention to.
Of course, while improving the presentation we do wish to create a STYLE which gets uniquely recognized as belonging to 3P - not matter who sees the converted biodata and when.
