Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

RESUME SEARCHER

Resume Searcher

After Resume Rater, this should be our next priority for a FREELY downloadable $\text{s/w}$ tool. It also doubles-up as:

  • Social Consensus/media
  • harnessing the knowledge of thousands of $\text{s/w}$ geeks

Why?

  • $\text{RS}$ $\text{C}$ (Resume Searcher) greatly simplifies the lives of recruiters/headhunters. They don't need to spend many hours everyday, online, conducting resume searches and then online reading of hundreds of resumes, so that they can decide which ones are worth downloading.
  • It saves them precious time, which, they can profitably use in interviewing candidates.
  • For a recruitment dept of a company or for a recruitment agency, $\text{RS}$ usage will mean less manpower to do more work. I have a feeling that, both in $\text{BPE}$ & in strategic $\text{HR}$, a no. of "Research Assistants" do nothing whole day, other than conduct online resume search, read/shortlist resumes & then download & email to their seniors! This is hardly "human use of human beings"!!
  • $\text{RS}$ is an ideal "Companion Tool" to $\text{RR}$.
    • $\text{RS}$ to enable "automated" downloading of resumes from a no. of jobportals
    • $\text{RR}$ to enable "automated" rating/grading of those downloaded resumes
    • $\text{RR}$ to enable emailing of "Interview Calls" to a few candidates, rated Excellent.

Between them, these 2 tools solve a majority of problems of recruiters.

$\triangleright$ $\text{RS}$ "feeds" $\text{RR}$ (a kind of automated "supply-chain")

$\triangleright$ We don't need to "maintain/update" $\text{RS}$. The user community will do it themselves. We will only start/initiate/kick-off this process by being the first to upload the "GuruGrab" which we have developed for Monster (?) - although not working for us currently. We will upload under the "assumed name" $\to$ Beginner, hoping that someone will come forward to set it right.

$\triangleright$ If, ultimately, thousands of recruiters start using $\text{RS}$ daily on several jobsites, they would be downloading & processing, several LAKHS resumes daily thru $\text{RR}$ - giving us email IDs and simultaneously popularising IndusRecruiter!

$\triangleright$ Whereas Monster/Naukri can resist - or even "defer" one user from using $\text{RS}$ for automated downloads, they will find it very difficult to resist, several thousands of their "legitimate" subscribers/customers from doing this! They may revolt against any such attempt on the part of jobportals.

$\triangleright$ Any clever changes/modifications on part of Monster/Naukri (to prevent auto downloads), will be treated by the geeks as some kind of a "challenge" - to be overcome! They may even discover - and post/upload - software that could penetrate Monster/Naukri's resume database even without a User $\text{ID}$/Password! It never pays to challenge the hackers!!

$\triangleright$ Large Corporate subscribers may even resent/protest the arbitrary limits imposed by Monster/Naukri on no. of resumes that can be downloaded in a day.

$\triangleright$ If someone develops $\text{RS}$ version for IndusRecruiter ( $\text{rest assured, it will happen}$), it does not matter, because of our "Pay per circle" model. Will such resumes flow into "Resume Holders"?

$\triangleright$ As far as enclosed $\text{U/I}$ are concerned, $\text{treat them as "**concepts/drafts**" only}$. I am sure you and your team will come up with some superior $\text{U/I}$ ($\text{Simpler/intuitive}$).

$\triangleright$ Here are some points to be considered:

  • After a few months, there could well be
    • 8 Versions of Naukri
    • 12 " " Monster
    • 15 " " timesjobs etc.
  • Shall we enable a recruiter to search by "Jobportal Name", so that he can straightaway go to the latest version & download?
  • We may want that no one can "EDIT" some earlier version, online ($\text{Like Wikipedia}$). He can $\text{EDIT}$, only after downloading &

then upload as a new version. Who knows, some recruiter may want to download and use an older version. Of course, this arrangement will also increase the Counter "No of Downloads".

  • It is possible that Geeks may not like to first download - then $\text{EDIT}$ - then upload. They may think it "childish"!
  • Can they click on a Version, which will copy & show the Source-code into another window, where they can $\text{edit/modify}$ and When satisfied, $\text{click}$

[Submitting New Version]

which action will add the latest version to the display.

  • Can we have

RESUME SEARCHER

Dear HR Manager/Headhunter/SW geek

$\triangleright$ "Resume Searcher" is an opensource ($\text{LINUX}$-like) Community Project. Please come forward to contribute - even if you wish to remain $\text{Anonymous}$.

$\triangleright$ Your Contributions could be by way of

  • Writing original source-code for Resume Searcher for a new/different jobportal, not written by anyone so far
  • Modifying ($\text{re-writing}$) source-code for an existing version, already submitted by someone earlier ($\text{in order to improve productivity}$).

$\text{I suppose this opportunity to display their talents, would challenge the}$ $\text{s/w geeks. Long live their tribe!}$

$\triangleright$ As far as the $\text{HR}$ managers/Headhunters/Recruiters are concerned, downloading (absolutely FREE) and using Resume Searcher would simplify their lives and increase their productivity several fold! Now they don't need to go "ONLINE" to conduct a Resume Search! Before going home in the evening, for each of their resume-needs, they will fill-in the "Search Parameter User Interface" ($\text{offline}$) then connect to the jobportal ($\text{to which they should have subscribed and got User ID/Password to}$ $\text{enter}$) and click $\text{Submit}$. That is all! Next morning when they return to office, all the Searched/Shortlisted/matching resumes would have been delivered into their mailbox - ready to be rated using Resume Rater! Just open/read top 5, then send out $\text{Interview calls}$ before $10 \text{ am}$. If $\text{Resume Searcher}$ does not work, Post Your Problem. Maybe the geeks will offer a solution!
