IIT (REVISED)

Interactive Interviews Tool (IIT)

Dear HR Manager/Headhunter

Occasional User

If you are an occasional user and need to interview 4/5 Candidates once-in-a-while and willing to take down notes on a piece of paper (in case you need to consult your notes later), then simply enter below the Permanent Executive Number (PEN) of the candidate and start interviewing.

Of course, relevant Interview Questions will pop-up when you click on any keyword in the candidate's KarmaScope.

After the interview, you will also be due to fill-in "Candidate Assessment" form and then download on your harddisk, but once you CLOSE the session, no data gets saved in our server! You can only refer to your handwritten notes!

Regular User

If, day in and day out, you are required to interview hundreds of candidates against dozens of vacancies, then obviously you are a regular user. It does not matter whether

  • you are a Recruiting Agent, interviewing on behalf of your Clients, or
  • you are a HR Manager, interviewing on behalf of your own Company (depts).

In either case, you cannot depend upon handwritten notes re: your findings, your assessment, your recommendations etc., when you are interviewing hundreds of candidates.

You need a robust/foolproof system which enables you to capture all sorts of data online - and on a continuous basis - and further enables you to Refer to all sorts of historical data within seconds, at any time in the future.

In short, for each interview, you need to create a Interview Process. An Interview Process will enable you to capture following data:

Who is to be interviewed? (Candidate PEN)

What for is he being interviewed? (Position/Vacancy)

When is he being interviewed? (Time-stamp)

Where did he arrive from? (Apply Online/Resume Search/emailed Profile) [Resume Holder PLAN]

The main anchor for an Interview Process is the "Position/Vacancy", which you have recently posted on this site. [Show All My Jobs]

Once you advertise any "position/vacancy", profiles (resumes) will keep arriving for many days and get stored in respective Resume Holder. Now you are not going to interview all those candidates at a time, on one day. You may interview them (few or one-at-a-time) spread over many days.

And since, you are interviewing all those candidates against a specific/given vacancy, you must use the SAME Interview Process (ID) for all, till that vacancy gets filled.

One Vacancy $\rightarrow$ One/Same Interview Process (ID) $\rightarrow$ Many Candidates

This allows you to track

  • How many candidates did you interview for this position $\&$ when
  • How was each "rated"? (Candidate Assessment Forms)
  • Who Interviewed each of those candidates?

In course of time, we will add

$\&$ who

  • How many were issued Appointment Letters?
  • How many $\&$ who joined?

Now let us say, you are ready to interview a candidate for the position (e.g.) XYZ.

You also remember (don't have to be 100% certain!) that sometime back, you had already created an Interview Process for this vacancy. If so, there is no point in creating a NEW Interview Process (for the same position). Who knows, you may have even actually interviewed a few candidates (for this position) in the past few days. No problem. Just click [View My Processes]

Voila!

Google

Dear Ms. Cassidy,

Google hungry for more Indian hits

In this report (Eco. Times : March 23, 2007 ) you say,

"We are hoping that there are some great technologies in India and we are open to direct acquisitions if it makes sense. The signature of any acquisition that we make will not be the size of the company but a strong engineering talent and great core technology that we can help scale".

Two days earlier (21/03/07), you were quoted in Business Standard,

"How to make the search engine simpler and uncomplicated is a big challenge, but we will have an answer soon".

We have, in IndiaRecruiter.net,

  • a great technology, which converts a plain text resume into Profiles
    • (recruitment business intelligence/analytics)
  • a unique search engine, which arranges resume-search result in the descending order of "Relevance" (candidate's Percentile scores).
    • (just read the top 5!)
  • a web 2.0 type MASH-UP of 15000+ interview questions/60,000+ "google set" keywords/wikipedia answers/"Google Archive" history (Interactive Interview Tool)
  • a "social consensus"/"User Generate content" in the form of
    • keyword voting (Poly-Ticks)
    • Interview Questions contribution (Share Your Knowledge)
  • a "Pay-per-click" revenue model (Pay Per Use)

Our next agenda is to turn IndiaRecruiter.net into an "open-source" project with an objective to make online jobsearch/resume-search obsolete ! We intend to change the rules of online Recruitment industry.

I would be happy to work with Google in some mutually beneficial arrangement. Please feel free to phone me on ( M ) 98 6755 0808

Mr. Ashish Kashyap

Google Online India

New Delhi

Dear Mr. Kashyap

E - Recruitment

This has reference to our telecon on 10th.

I agree that making Googlejobs.in, a partner website of GlobalRecruiter.net, is a policy matter and would take time. However, I already see Google moving in the direction of "pay-per-use" webservices in case of books video music etc. I also feel Google would want to straddle the entire gamut of media, from Newspapers to Internet to TV to Mobile phones to Radio, with content flowing seamlessly across all media.

As you are aware, World-Wide-Jobs, already enables job content to flow seamlessly across

Internet Mobiles

Internet Newspapers

Before long, job-content will flow

Internet TV

Soon the direction of flow will cease to be a constraint, permitting job - advts to flow freely from any media to any other media, as shown:

We plan to bring this about through launch of GlobalRecruiter.net, thereby fulfilling our mission

"To deliver job-info to millions of jobseekers in the remotest corners of India".

If India has to progress, job-info cannot/must not remain the privilege of urban elite, with access to internet. To bridge this info-chasm is a social responsibility and I will wait for Google's decision to participate.

MEDIA CONVERGENCE FOR BRANDING OF

"GOOGLEJOBS"

Annex : A

> Internet

Google is already pervading internet-space

> Mobile Phones

By end of 2006, India will have a subscriber base of 110 million.

Today, we are delivering JAM ( Job Alert on Mobile ) to subscribers of Airtel and MTNL. Next month, we will start delivering JAM to Reliance subscribers. By end of 2006, we expect to tie-up with the rest of the mobile service providers to cover all 110 million subscribers.

When job advts posted on Googlejobs get delivered as (SMS) alert to 110 million mobile-owners, everyday, each (SMS) alert will carry, in capital letters, the source, as "Googlejobs"

Mobile Service Providers deliver these alerts (SMS) to subscribers "free-of-cost", hence there is no hesitation on part of the subscribers to sign-up to receive jobalerts.

Imagine the "Brand-Building" impact of the name Googlejobs appearing on 110 million mobile phones, every single afternoon ! And without any cost !

> Newspapers (Print-Media)

Every morning, we are emailing to some 25 newspapers, a Job Advt Summary ( JAS ) as a free content. These newspapers print this summary Daily, as a kind of "Readership Service". At the bottom, each summary cites the source as

www.World-Wide-Jobs.com

These are job-advts that are posted on major Indian jobsites during the past 24 hours and downloaded / aggregated by us.

Once 49000 Corporates start posting jobs on Googlejobs ( instead of on Monster / Naukri ), the job-advt. summary will carry the source name as

Googlejobs

By end of 2006, We expect to be delivering this free content to more than 200 newspapers, with a combined daily readership of over 50 million people living in 5,000 + towns of India.

Before 8 am every morning, some 50 million Indians, would be reminded of

Googlejobs

( - without incurring any cost ! )

> TV CHANNELS

As of now, India has some 80 million cable TV homes.

Within 5 years, 80% of these will switchover to DTH ( very much like fixed-line phones getting replaced by mobiles ).

We have already approached 3 TV channels with offer to supply free content in the form of job-advts. ( similar to our offer to newspapers ).

With one major difference.

Newspapers get to print job-advts which are 24 hours old.

We will deliver to any TV channel, a job-advt posted on any of our partner websites, just 5 Minutes earlier !

Global Recruiter will enable a TV channel to display a job-advt, much like

"Breaking the News" !

And every job-advt getting displayed on TV channels, will carry the source, eg:

Googlejobs.

We plan to reach another 60 million people through the TV media.

This is Internet / TV convergence in realtime, with content passing from one media to another media, within minutes ( - even seconds ! ) utilizing the virtual employment exchange platform of

GlobalRecruiter.net

https://www.google.com/search?q=World-Wide-Jobs.com

And should a jobseeker watching the TV, likes any job-advt and wants to "apply online", he will simply send a SMS on his mobile to World-Wide-Jobs. ( JAM <Jobcode> shortcode).

Now we have realtime convergence of Internet + TV + Wireless telephony !

What will Global Recruiter do Next?

  • Plot trends by aggregating (Database of Intentions)
    • Corporate Intentions
      • Job Advt Parameters
      • Resume Search Parameters
    • Candidate Intentions
      • Job (Alert) Preferences
      • Job Search Parameters
      • "Apply Online" History

This will be done by aggregation of Search terms used (click-stream patterns)

  • What kind of Candidates do they want?

PIE-CHARTS for major Employers

  • Recommendation System (Amazon - type)

(By mashing Google Suggest through an API)

    • To Jobseekers Here are interesting jobs
    • To Employers Here are interesting resumes
  • Match Index

How good a match is a Resume to a Job Advt - and vice-versa)

[Diagram showing a Venn diagram with two overlapping circles labeled 'A' (Resume) and 'B' (Job Advt). The intersection is shaded. Below the diagram, it says A \cup B (Theory of Sets).]

  • Incorporation of Google Sets in resume (through an API)

(to help HR managers to probe a candidate's knowledge on associated / related "Concepts").

We will try a graphical display similar to www.visualthesaurus.com.

  • Resume Rating System
  • Archival Job Search (Web Time Axis)
  • Archive-assisted Job Advt-Posting
  • Job Search / Resume Search for
    • Fresh Graduates
    • Vocational Staff
    • Clerical / Admin staff
  • Job-Advt. "Feeds" uniquely tailored to each college / Edu. Institution

(depending upon "branches / streams" of specializations offered)

  • Integrating "HARVESTER" into Global Recruiter

(A software to check web-references of candidates using Google Search)

  • "Classification of Resumes" by HR Managers

(This online game will harness the accumulated knowledge of thousands of HR experts to build a Knowledge-Base, around thousands of "If / Then" rules, ultimately leading to creation of "Agents" for deciphering resumes. Over a period of time, this will eliminate human evaluation / assessment of resumes)

  • Creation of

Function Profile Graphs

(Viewable by Employers only and chargeable)

[Three graphs showing a skewed, bell-like curve over a horizontal axis, with peak values indicated as 70, 60, and 30 respectively.]

  • Creation of

Career Profile Graphs

(Viewable by Employers only and chargeable)

    • Salary Profile
    • Designation Profile
    • Tenure Profile
    • Education Profile
    • Experience Profile

[Three graphs showing a skewed, bell-like curve over a horizontal axis, with peak values indicated as 70, 60, and 30 respectively.]

Now resume-search will become possible based on "Percentile-Score" of candidates, on any of these profiles.

TIMES TRENDS I TECH@WORK

Your own mashed-up startup

This year will be witness to the rise of hybrid software, discovers Kavita Kukday

A few weeks ago, on this page, we were writing about how the Internet is changing - and the main change is driving an increase in information - term. So, if technology pundits are to be believed, this year, the attention thrown to a good old fashioned word - mash - will be felt. At the etymology of the word goes, it finds its roots in music. When an artist puts together different bits of music, radically new, one, it washes all (sic) mash. It's much the same with IT software, using small, loosely joined pieces of code together to achieve something new, you've essentially created a mash-up. Most mash ups that exist today perform one of three basic experimental by developers who want to customize what's out there. The most known mash up pioneer Radesearcher, "Fry" are, in a very real sense, bridging the gap between the virtual and physical worlds". Radiomacher shot to fame when he 'mashed-up' Google maps and an application that puts together real estate information. The result? You give a potential buyer a pretty damn good idea of a home's price, location etc.

The anatomy of mash ups: Contained in all mash ups are typically no less than three parties: source via a Public API and/or an application that grants permission to do so. The third party is the secret ingredient that the developer uses to create their own recipes from available data. And what really are the kind of mash ups coders across the world are submitting? To get a flavor of that, just log on to www.waytogo.com. The gentle man behind the site got together and himself mashing a lot of energy comparing prices on almost 40,000 routes per day. Eventually, he figured, he did most of his shopping from two places - Ebay and Amazon. So, he did the next best thing. Both Ebay and Amazon now have APIs available. So, anybody can mash up Google Maps, Ebay and Amazon. Then he wrote an application that compares the prices on all three sites, and makes it easily available. In one stroke, that's how sydnom-read Ebay to Amazon - was born. Apparently, he's very popular with online shoppers abroad.

Then there are information mash-ups that link up the world airport information on Skymall, literally. The developer of this site used a publicly accessible database on airports and that put together a website that allows aviation and geographical details for almost 11,000 airports. Incidentally did you know airstrips exist in remote areas such as Leh, Kargil and Pulchok in our country? Aviation and geography built across the world, give a chance to you, travel. And if you travel, Travel Mag (sic) is an example you can come in handy. So, if you're visiting say, Mum bai on work, Travel Mag will tell you how to get around the city. Equipped with reviews of hotels in the city, the features the travellers before you have posted. However, you'll get a fairly decent online Travel Mag better still, you get to choose between many versions, this year. So, if you're and are a senior executive, your perception of the word mash-up will be different from that of a 24-year-old backpacker. This mashup lets you do just that. Pick up reviews from your perspective.

Will they survive?

Is there a business model that exists around mash ups? As of now, nobody knows. But the people are tinkering around. The Washington Post a lead ing daily newspaper in the US, for instance, recently launched its own mash up, the Just Rents. It highlights the best of web developers who've created mash-ups that use rent paying content available on the Washington Post site. Of course, there are existing commercial implications for the newspaper. But it serves in bringing online visibility for the product.

Archiving and analysis. If you can build a knowledge and can surface for it, which is easy to use, you could have an image and could be an image ad. And what with online, usually a mapped, targeting ads, will be quite the 'IN' thing. Since they are not only restricted to 'search', but also to person's specific loca tion,

If there's anybody who's smelting money based on the information, it's companies like Microsoft and IBM. They're the ones who provide the raw ingredients, such as an API that power most mash up 'co oking'. But start smelling money based on location, buttons that appear below maps which show locations of either a bank, a bar and other sites.

Don't be surprised if Google too offers mash ups. The com pany reserves the right to in corporate adverts in the map images provided to mash up creators, and users must agree to comply with map usage modification, according to its terms of use.

Google jobs

Dear Jobseekers,

On this website, you can

  • Post your Resume ( Register)
  • Conduct Job-Search
  • Apply Online against any job
  • Forward your resume to 750 Placement Agencies

And all of these services are FREE to you - like on most other jobaites. Hence, obviously "cost" cannot be the reason why you would want to submit your resume here.

But there are other, very compelling reasons why you should post your resume here. Here is a partial list :-

We are not " Just one more/typical" jobsite. We are a partner of Global Recruiter.net, which is a network of many partner websites.

A resume posted here becomes searchable by all Recruitment Managers, conducting resume-searches on all partner websites. This feature dramatically increases your prospect of being "discovered/shortlisted", within a matter of days.

Similarly, when you conduct a job-search here, you get to see - and apply online - against any/all job-advts. getting posted by all HR Managers, on all partner websites. One stop shopping ! No need to register at umpteen jobsites.

If you are mobile subscriber of Airtel/MTNL/(Delhi)/MTNL (Mumbai), you will also receive daily, matching job-alert SMS, on your mobile. These alerts are FREE too !

You can even "apply online" against any of these (SMS) alerts, directly from your mobile !

No need for a PC/Internet !

No need to conduct jobsearches !

No need to submit your resume at dozens of jobsites !

http://indiarecruiter.net/wfrmJobseekerHomePage.aspx

12/15/2005

Currently, Airtel/MTNL are charging you Rs. 3/- to "Apply Online" from your mobile. ( Look up details at www.World-Wide-Jobs.com )

You will discover many more reasons, once you REGISTER ( Post Resume ).

Google jobs

Dear Employers,

We deliver each job-advt. posted here, as a job-alert SMS (JAM), to matching candidates, once-a-day.

But, soon, we will start delivering such job posted as Job Alert Broadcast (JAB), within minutes of job-posting !

Within minutes of job posting we deliver, on the mobile of the concerned HR Manager, a Resume Alert Mobile (RAM), indicating no. of matching resumes on our database ! You can even download these resumes by sending SMS from your mobile.

Along with each resume delivered to you, we attach a "FEEDBACK FORM". Just click on appropriate response and your feedback will be delivered to the concerned candidate, as email, within minutes !

Search engines selling ad space may be taxed

The Authority for Advance Rulings has said that Google Online India Pvt. Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of US based Google International LLC, will have to pay service tax for selling advertisement pace on its search site to Indian entities. This can set a precedent for search engines with offices in India falling in the ambit of tax.

The advance ruling last week noted that the proposed activity of Google India to sell space on its site tantamount to providing a service to advertisers and clients. "From this angle, the applicant will be covered by the definition of advertising agency," it said.

When contacted, Google executives said they were still examining the ruling and did not wish to comment on it.

A ruling by the advance authority is binding on the company with immediate effect unless it decides to appeal against the verdict.

The search engine had approached the Advance Ruling Authority in August this year, seeking clarifications on whether providing selling space for advertisement on the Google website would be exempt from service tax or was classifiable as advertisement service, computer network service, business auxiliary service, or any other tax able service.

In its application, Google had said the service it proposed to provide did not attract service Tax. The company had argued that it was not providing any service involving "making and display of advertisements but was merely engaged in space-selling activity" on Google's own website and other websites with which it had entered into a syndication agreement.1

The Commissionerate of Service Tax, in its argument, pointed out that the definition of advertisement space was wide enough to include providing of advertisement service on the Internet by the applicant.23

"Even mere providing or selling of space for advertisement is itself a service connected with disp4lay or exhibition of advertisements and hence will fall within the tax net as advertisement service," the commissionerate said.5

The advance ruling authority pointed out that the finance ministry, in 1996, had made it cle6ar in the context of the "advertising agency" definition to the effect that "the scope of the service which is included in the tax net, extends to not only any service connected with making and preparation of advertisements but also includes services connected with display or exhibition of advertisements."

Subject: Google changes rules

December 13, 2005

Dear Mr. Kashyap,

Google changes rules !

This is further to my email of Dec. 08.

There was one thing I forgot to mention.

For online advertisement industry, Google changed the rules; from a fixed lump sum to "Pay per click".

Although vested interests resisted this new paradigm, they had no choice but to follow suit.

We too subscribe to Google's philosophy.

Why should corporate Employers ( and placement agencies ) make huge lump sum advance payments ( Rs. 1.5 L to Rs. 3.0 lakh per year ) to jobsites for posting their job-advts?

Irrespective of

  • How many jobseekers click "click open" these advts?

and

  • How many jobseekers click "Apply Online" against a particular job-advt?

We believe, this is a daylight robbery !

So, on GlobalRecruiter.net ( partner websites ), we plan to change Employers, only when

  • a jobseeker clicks on an advts and "applies online"
  • an Employer clicks open and downloads a resume.

If Google will help us, we will change the rules of the Online Recruitment Industry ! I have absolutely no doubt, jobsites claiming to be No. 1 ( there are 3 of them ! ) will be forced to follow.

Google Online

Dear Mr. Kashyap,

GlobalRecruiter.net

I refer to my email ( Dec. 02 ) and our telecon 2/3 days back.

Once you are back in office on Dec. 17, I will phone you to fix-up a meeting.

In the meantime, please consider following:

Under "More Yahoo Service", Yahoo India has a link "Careers", where jobseekers can search jobs. A couple of clicks, leads one to timesjobs.com.

Once you are transferred to timesjobs.com website, then,

  • a jobseeker can "Search Job" or "Post Resume"
  • an employer can "Search Resumes" or "Post Jobs"

But to do this, a visitor has to actually leave Yahoo India website and move onto timesjobs.com website. Not a good arrangement.

As against this, if you permit

www.GlobalRecruiter.net

to power Google India's "CAREER" section, then your visitor would never leave your website ! - but still do everything.

I am aware that Google has plans to get into "classifieds" search.

And "Jobs/Vacancies" are, beyond doubt, the biggest "classifieds", anywhere in the world.

Not many in India know that, some 3230 jobs were posted on major Indian jobsites on Dec. 08, 2005 ( yesterday )

see http://www.World-Wide-Jobs.com/wfrmCityWiseTabulation.aspx

Job Advt. content being emailed by us everyday, is being printed by some 25 newspapers, spread all over India

See List attached

12/9/05

In the next 12 months, we expect some 200 newspapers to print our content.

In doing so, we are inspired by Google's R&D department, which says,

" One thing we learned while building Google is that it is easier to find what you are looking for, if it comes looking for you "

( see http://www.World-Wide-Jobs.com/wfrmjamreasons.aspx >> Bury The Jobsearch )

If there are any questions, please feel free to phone me on ( M - 98 6755 0808 ).

News

On www, any piece of news in the form of an article/ extract ( i.e. Document )

A "Job-Advt" ( document ) posted on any jobsite on the internet ( starting with Indian jobsites )

Legal Issues - Has any News Site objected?

Till now, we have not had this issue, .... In fact, they might be benefiting because of Google News. -- We explained to them, how we go about the entire process, and they have gone back satisfied.

Our argument is same. Jobsites stand to benefit when we download their job advt and deliver to millions of mobile phone owners as SMS. Because of bold mention of "SOURCE", in SMS, jobsites get tremendous publicity/brand-building. We are not Violating Indian copyright Act ( Job Advts are Public Domain and not a work of "artistic/creative" nature ). We are not modifying the Job Advt content either.

Sources

4500 News Sites

A few to begin with.

Any Single Topic

Any news subject eg: IRAQ WAR Web Browser Indian Election Painting EU Tariff

Any given/chosen "VACANCY/POSITION NAME/TITLE" of any job advt. document

Problem Statement

How do you manage a flood of information to pick & choose what is relevant to you?

Timeliness & Convenience

----how can somebody get the latest news about a subject in one single place?

Time ( to search )

It would be time consuming to flip through one web page after another, scan and then click on umpteen no. of hyperlinks.....

Rationale

Assembling all these under one single site seemed sensible

Manually? or Automatically?

But no single human being or even a batch of them, can do this job. The process of selecting stories and bunching them together from credible sources, could thus be best accomplished through AUTOMATION. (- every 15 minutes updated !)

Algorithm

So, I wrote an algorithm that trawls the news websites and clusters related stories

Would you like me to look for specific information within these documents, or perhaps summarize the correspondence between H.C. Parekh and Mr. Ashish Kashyap?

How does algorithm work?

The algorithm functions like a librarian or clipping service, by searching out, matching and collecting articles based on one's reading interest.

Currently our spider downloads ALL job ads found on selected jobsites. After a year or two, we will modify algorithm, so that it will go out and search and download ONLY those job-advts which matches the "Job-Preferences" database of a million subscribers. Why download a job in which no one is interested?

Update

Continuous (24 \times 7) update every 15 minutes

Once-every 24 hours (deletes old database of preceeding 24 hours) for "matching" purpose.

Nature

We are a content aggregator. Our technology trawls through the web to find the most appropriate content.

We too, are content aggregator except in WWJ, we do "door-delivery" of matching content (Job Alerts) on mobiles of users.

Relevance

...the search avoids bias by selecting all articles that are determined relevant by the mathematical grouping. Relevance is determined by information retrieval techniques that look at the distribution of words in the article and surrounding pages on the web.

Today, we are downloading ALL job-advts (from each jobsite). But someday, we will calculate "percentile" by keyword weightages in each job-advt. In our case, the question of "relevance" comes in at the stage of "Match-making" with the "Job-Preferences" given by a subscriber.

Objectivity

Google News is objectively created, not opinionated. It reflects the view of many editors who create the content on the sites Google trawls.

On jobsites, HR managers post job-advts. So they are creating "content". We are merely "matching" this content with the "Job Prefernecs" given by JAM subscriber. We are not giving "OUR" opinion about any advt. being "Good / Bad". It is for a subscriber to decide.
