INSTANT JOBS

NSTANT JOBS

From: Rajeev
cc: Vikram, Rahul
Date: 05 March 2006
Subject: Instant Jobs

1️ Concept Background

Refers to an earlier discussion with Atli regarding the concept of MULTIPLEXES.

  • The core idea: Deliver an RSS feed to websites and TV channels on a 24×7 basis.
    • Most TV channels operate 24×7.
    • Websites are “always on,” too.
  • The RSS feed will continuously deliver job-information updates.

🧠 Reference: Previous note on “Multiplex (2/3/4 screens)” concept.

2️ Format & Display

If certain recipients (particularly websites) wish to display “Instant Jobs” in Job Parade format, that’s acceptable — no objections.

However, the preferred format is the “Multiplex” multi-screen display, because:

  • Each job posting gets replaced automatically as soon as it expires.
  • This ensures constant engagement — viewers remain glued to their PC or TV, fearing they might “miss out on another right job.”

Hence, the multiplex-screen display makes that TV channel or website page “very sticky.”

3️ Engagement Logic

“Can you imagine the idea of people watching the same channel or webpage for hours on end?”

Exactly this sustained engagement is the target.

4️ Customization via Registration Form

  • The Registration Form (for TV channels / websites) will let partners select multiple cities of their choice.
  • The RSS system will then deliver a customized Instant Jobs feed, limited to those selected cities.

5️ Technical & Administrative Points

  • TV channels / websites must have the ability to log in anytime to add, remove, or edit their chosen cities.
  • Implementation details are “explained in the enclosed sheet.”

6️ Analogy

“In many respects, Instant Jobs is quite like our JAS to newspapers.”

(JAS = Job Advertising Service)

Real-World Constraints

It will take time before:

  • Global Recruiter onboards a critical mass of partner websites.
  • Those partner websites attract enough corporate subscribers.
  • And those corporate subscribers begin posting thousands of job ads regularly.

➡️ Therefore, the Instant Jobs RSS feed will initially lack content.

“No job-ads to deliver for a long time — sad thought!”

Temporary Work-Around

Until original ads flow in, propose using downloaded job-ads from Naukri / Monster as the interim feed source.

“Till such time, can we use job-ads downloaded from Naukri / Monster, etc.?”

Key question:
Do these job-ads carry a timestamp (date of posting)?

  • If yes, Instant Jobs can launch immediately using these daily-downloaded ads.

5️ Implementation Adjustment

Minor text change in the formal write-up:

Replace
“We aggregate such content from our partner websites (Global Recruiter) and then deliver to you as RSS feed.”
with
“We aggregate such content from several job-sites and then deliver to you as RSS feed.”

Similar tweaks elsewhere—minor issue.

Strategic Considerations

Using Monster/Naukri content for RSS feeds to TV channels or other sites will inevitably raise visibility—and tension:

“Of course, using Monster/Naukri’s content … will raise our battle with them by one big notch!”

They may not have liked the JAS (Job Advertising Service) model to newspapers—this escalates competition further.

6️ Competitive Outlook & First-Mover Edge

Naukri may not yet have noticed Global Recruiter’s moves—

“Using their content to get our free publicity.”

But once Instant Jobs gains traction, they surely will—and may copy the idea.
Still, Global Recruiter will enjoy a first-mover advantage:

“By the time Naukri mounts a credible response, we must
• get many TV channels/websites to sign up, and
• get Global Recruiter going full blast.”

Growth Path (“Value Chain” Progression)

A clear product-evolution ladder:

  1. JAM → Job Ads on Mobiles ( done)
  2. JAS → Job Ads to Newspapers ( done)
  3. JATJobs on TV (🚀 next goal)
