Some analysis of Job-Aduts posted
on Indian Jobsites
As on 01/05/04, total job
aduts posted on 6 major Indian Job-sites, was, 1, 43, 658 as compiled in
enclosed sheets.
But, the "actual" no.
could be significantly high, since (eg.) in case of monsterindia, IT/SW job-ads
says "out of more than 5000".
So, we have no means to know, how
many more!
In case of most of jobsites,
search dropdown lists are a MIXTURE of "Industry-Names"
& "function-Names"
I suppose, this is because, in
case of some "Functions", the particular Industry is either irrelevant
(eg: HR/Legal/Finance etc) OR
In some "Functions",
there is just ONE industry, (eg: "Mainframe" is only in
IT/HW).
JobsDB
although "India-Portal"
of jobsdb shows only 1923 jobs, all Country-wise "portals" of
JobsDB, put together, have as many as 30,619 jobs (excluding CHINA).
Barring "Korea"
& (40% of) TAIWAN, portals, rest of the job-advts. are in ENGLISH,
so, nearly 30,000 job-advts are in English.
Hence, we should not ignore JobsDB!
On the other hand, we should add
a "Country" field, so that, on a jobseeker's mobile handset,
we are able to show

I have repeatedly said that, in
So, one obvious "fall-out"
of Foreign-Companies' "job-alerts on mobiles", could
well be
MUCH MORE BPO in India
by these Companies!
Which, in turn, could vastly
improve job-opportunities here itself!
Obviously, foreign-companies, may
not be in a position to offer jobs, to Indians, on their OWN soils (due
to Visa restrictions), but, when they start receiving resumes of
millions of Indian Pros, they would Create jobs for some of these
Indians on the Indian Soil! This is a very desirable goal in itself,
besides "being able to project a true image of Indian professionals
amongst lakhs of foreign companies."
We must, in JAM, exploit
the desire/ hope/ passion of Indians to work "abroad".
I have a gut-feeling that an Indian
Pros tendency (inclination) to "click" for a "FOREIGN
JOB" would be 3 TIMES as much, as clicking on an "INDIAN
JOB". We must capitalize on this tendency.
Again, this tendency is likely to
be far more pronounced amongst
Fresh Graduates
Fresh Engineers
Fresh MBA's
These "freshers"
are having "no strings attached". They are far more mobile
& venturesome. They don't have wives/children to worry-about.
If anything, after a 2/3 year stint abroad, they vastly improve their
"standing" in the marriage-market!
So, for this group (> 3
lakh graduating/year), we must download & display "ENTRY-LEVEL
JOBS FROM ABROAD."
Of course, we should also
download/display "ENTRY-LEVEL jobs from INDIA."
