Applitech enters into HRM solutions business

Our Ahmedabad Bureau | 26 MAY

The Ahmedabad-based Rs 70 crore software company, Applitech Solutions Ltd, has entered the human resource management services sector by floating a new company which would offer comprehensive HRM solutions.

The new venture, Applitech HRS Services Pvt Ltd (AHRS), has already secured the existing clientele of its parent company and is hopeful of adding more members within the next couple of months. It proposes to offer an array of HRM services ranging from resourcing, recruitment, corporate training and development to customised HRM software solutions and applications for the corporates.

Tapan Tripathi, CEO, AHRS, told ET, that the company is expecting to clock a revenue of Rs 4-5 crore by the end of this fiscal. The 26 clients serviced by Applitech include Bombay Stock Exchange, Reliance Industries, Bharat Cellular, Tata Telecom and a host of IT-enabled services (ITES) companies across the country.

“In the initial phase, the company is targeting pharmaceutics, oil and gas, telecom, IT and ITES,” Tripathi said. “Our experience and forte lies in pharma and IT segments, which would be followed by insurance, banking and FMCG in the second phase,” he added.

Not surprisingly, AHRS has bagged HRM service contracts for several large pharmaceutical companies like E-India Pharmaceuticals, Cadila Healthcare, Alembic, Dishman and Intas.

Tripathi said that the parent company has also developed some software solutions like Enterprise Software Management System (ESMS), that aid in automating functions like file and track record. Besides, other tech products and services like payroll processing, performance appraisal systems,

AHRS is planning to enhance its service portfolio by offering services like immigration, visa processing, counselling and various case management programmes in the coming months. “We would be launching an aggressive outdoor campaign soon after the 1st October,” he said.

Nagle said, “It is also shaping to cash in on the existing network of the parent company in the US, UK, Australia and Dubai. We are in the process of finalising our local partners in these regions,” he added.

It may be recalled that Applitech was recently awarded the CMM level five certificate by consulting major KPMG, making it the only software company in the state to have earned this quality assurance certification.

Dear Sir,

Sub : Estimation for the reports generation and additional scope of work

This refers to the discussions our SRS team had with you, Mr. Nirmil and Mr. Nagle for the finalization of the scope of work. The proposed Scheduler and the change requests have been discussed and the same has been enclosed for your kind reference.

The list of reports which are to be generated through the Order Processing Module has also been enclosed for your reference. We had suggested earlier in our offer that the reports would be generated through Crystal Reports and later it is agreed that the reports would have to be generated through the module itself. The no. of reports are 92 (including additional 12 reports stated in the Change Request Form enclosed).

Since 3P Consultants are a very important customer to us, we have reduced the man-day charges for the additional scope of work. The Commercial details are enclosed for your reference. Kindly let us know your acceptance at your earliest.

We assure you that the work in the project is progressing very well and we are confident to provide you the Order Processing Module in the stipulated time.

Dear Sir,

We once again wish you a Happy New Year.

This has reference to our letter dated 20/10/2000 and your subsequent reply dated 30/10/2000. We are a bit concerned after having gone through your reply, and in the interest of project, I would like to share the same with you.

Your reply dated 30/10/2000 unfortunately did not contain the answer to most of our questions we had raised in our letters. I am sure you realize that these are extremely important and urgent for us, as they affect all the points mentioned below:

1. Architecture Information

2. Freezing of requirements (without which tools can not be selected)

3. Selection of appropriate tool (without which designing can not start)

4. Design (Without which development cannot take place)

5. Completion of project as per agreed time line.

We have received your feedback on the reports but it lacks the following:

1. Suggestions on the content and the data fields (if any fields have to be added/ deleted)

2. Feedback on Sorting order for each report

3. Sample data

4. The format of the reports like janam kundli etc. as requested in report formats sent to you reports nos. 27, 42, 43)

5. Details if a report is to be Printed or not along with frequency etc. (last page of the report format document dated 18/10/2000)

We appreciate your efforts in grouping these reports logically and will certainly find these effort valuable, but the above points definitely requires more attention and priority, at this point of time.

We have also not received any feedback on the MOM dated 14/10/00 sent along with the report formats. Your special attention is drawn towards the following points:

1. The complete matter of the standard letters to be given by 3P latest by 25/10/2000. (Point no5)

2. Format of the checklist to be given by 3P latest by 15/10/2000. (Point no13)

3. Format of the Shopping Basket to be given latest by 3P by 15/10/2000. (Point no 14)

We regret to inform that as of this date we are already slipping the deadline by almost a month & non-availability of the above will only delay the project further.

Sir, I am sure you have faith in our capabilities and that's why you have chosen us for your requirement of an OES. We take great pride in following our ISO 9001 practices. Therefore in keeping with these streamlined processes, we require all the information to carry out our activities.

Your suggestions are always welcome, we will always revert back on the same, but we would appreciate if you can answer our immediate queries on priority. In fact we are already checking and revising the requirement catalogue based on your feedback vide your letter dated 30/10/2000.

Your additional inputs such as Amazon.com write-up are indeed enlightening, but we are not in position to really commit on any of those features for our system. In case we find something suited to our needs, we will gladly incorporate any good ideas.

In the end we once again request you to kindly revert immediately on the above-mentioned points since the project work is at a standstill in absence of the feedback on the same.

I am sure you understand and will extend your fullest co-operation.

Assuring you of our best services always.

Warm regards,

Dear Mr. Sudhakar,

Order Execution System

I am glad that yourself/Tapan/Jayant could spend time with Mr. Nagle/Mr. Thakur and myself yesterday to finalize the System Requirement and the Output Reports.

I look forward to receiving from your team this morning, a comprehensive document, containing

  • Data dictionary
  • Data Flow Diagram (upto final payment stage)
  • Decision Table
  • Statement of Processes
  • Output Report formats.

The above-mentioned documents should incorporate those changes which we discussed yesterday and agreed to incorporate, including the output reports on “Customer: Outstandings (Balance of Payments) – Consultantwise and Clientwise”.

(Letter from 3P Executive Search, Page 2)

3P EXECUTIVE SEARCH

During the discussions, the following was agreed upon:

  • The source-code will be handed over to 3P and will become the intellectual property of 3P (Pl. see T/I of my note dated August 24)
  • As per our requirements, we would be free to install the Order Execution Software at any number of our branches, without having to pay you any separate "license fee" for the same.
  • We would, however, pay you reasonable charges for "installing" this software at our outstation branches, in case we require your help/assistance in this matter.
  • Instead of waiting till the entire software package gets ready, you will examine the possibility of installing "sub-modules" of this system as each "sub-module" gets ready. This will help in debugging the system and familiarizing our staff with its use.

I have no doubt that you will deliver to us a world-class, top-quality product, in light of the following remarks attributed to Shri Mukesh Patel (Business Standard, Sept. 22, 2000):

"Mr. Patel said that he considered the 3Ps order for developing a portal exclusively dedicated to IT consultants and professionals as one of the most exciting and exclusive ones. The job entailed constant upgradation of the data base, integrating the CVs with placement and recruitment."

Dear Sir,

Sub: Order Execution System

This has reference to our various meetings we had at your office for the Order Execution System. You would appreciate that designing of a software is a very important aspect of the software development process and in order to ensure that the same is done correctly we would like to seek clarifications on the following points:

1. Architecture

We understand that 3P will have multiple locations in the near future. In order to develop the system architecture, we need to have more information on:

  • What kind of data would be exchanged between all locations?
  • Which would be the main location?
  • What type of connectivity is desired for linking these locations? Are there any special considerations for these requirements? If so please elaborate.

2. Inputs

The list of inputs (masters/ transactions) has been submitted by our team during the course of SRS. The same has to be finalized at the earliest.

3. Output

The list and the format of output (reports) have been made by you and our team. The same should be finalized to ensure that all relevant information is being captured. All reports must contain at least a few lines of summary or real data to give us a clear picture of the report functionality. This is very important and crucial to understanding the reports.

4. Organization Structure

We will require the current & the proposed organization structure. I.e. The hierarchical structure from top-most management and below.

5. Security

We will require a document from you stating your security needs such as the levels of security expected in the system.

6. Audit Log

A document is required by us to know your audit log requirements. What data would you like to back up? What operations should be audited? The same will help us design better by keeping your needs in mind.

(Letter from Applitech, Page 2)

6. Front Tool

While the back end tool has been finalized as Oracle 8i the front-end tool is yet to be decided. Although we are in the process of finalizing the same, we request you to kindly let us know your preferences for the front-end tool if you have any, and the reason for the preference. We would also like to know what gains or benefits you expect by from the selection of a particular tool.

An early response on all the above mentioned points would be highly appreciated since the designing work can only commence after your feed back is received and the requirements are frozen.

Assuring you of our best services,

Yours faithfully,

Subject: Clarifications on the points raised in your mail

Dear Sir,

This refers to your email dated 6th June 02 to Neeraj Rathi. We would like to give you some clarification on the points raised.

1. The response of Mr Shahid was for the reference of legal actions which you have raised in your earlier communications. It was certainly not our intention to threaten 3P with legal notice. The meeting on 25th May 02 was basically to understand and address the issues by direct discussions.

2. The OES was installed and provisionally signed off in June 01. The bugs removal is a part of the service which our team is working in conjunction with yours to make the system smoothly functioning. I hope you would appreciate that the lot has been substantially reduced with the constant efforts of our team. At no point of time, we have showed any reluctance in addressing the issues.

3. Since the balance amount is overdue, it was personally requested by Shahid, apart from my requests in the past, to you to release at least a part of the payment. We are rather pained by the intransigency on 3P's side to be empathetic to the situation and offer the support and co operation.

4. We are committed to make the OES bugs free, with your support.

I hope you would appreciate our position and would create a situation where both 3P and Applitech feels the WIN - WIN.

Assuring you our best services at all times,

Kind attention: Mr. H C Parikh, Director.

Dear Sir,

Subject: Order Execution System

This in continuation with our various letters, mails & meeting that we have had over the past 10 months ending the meeting our VP (Technical) had with you today morning.

You are well aware that the above application was installed at your office in the month of June 2001 and we also have your "Provisional Sign Off" on the application vide your certificate dated June 9, 2001 in which it is clearly stated that the system have been tested thoroughly and working appropriately.

Inspite of the above fact we have made all efforts to ensure that the application installed at your office works to your satisfaction. We have also carried out large number of changes, which were not part of the Order or were in direct contradiction to the points mutually agreed upon during the development phase of the application.

While the project team and the account manager have been in touch with you continuously, even our senior management has taken pains to address your concerns and have even visited your office to resolve any outstanding issue.

Inspite of the fact that we have been extending all the support to your organization there has been no gesture from your side to clear the large amount of outstanding money. Sir, you are aware that we have an outstanding of almost Rs. 4.95 lacs, which is long overdue.

Vide this letter we call upon you to clear this outstanding amount immediately so that our relations are not spoilt.

Looking forward to a favorable response from your side.

Thanking you,

Yours truly,

For Applitech Solution Limited

Inquiry through Shopping Basket when converted to an inquiry, the inquiry form contains a field called "Educational Qualification" in the "Position Details" section, is a mandatory field \& also disabled. Thus user can't fill-up any text (because the field is disabled) also can't proceed (because the field is mandatory). Kindly activate this field.

In Scheduler "C"- Sales Order numbers against which minimum fees are yet to be received. Also reflects those SON's against which the balance amount to be receive is zero, i.e for those SON's minimum search fees has already been received should go out from this scheduler

Neeraj/Yogesh

Transaction/Interview Schedule screen where one has to fill up the three mandatory fields viz. "Date of Interview, Time of Interview, Interview Venue" for all the shortlisted candidate. Kindly make these fields optional. The importance / essentiality of making OPTIONAL, following fields: Date of Interview, Time of Interview, Interview Venue. The logic is simple. Even if we have shortlisted \& recommended (say) 4 candidates to the client, there is no way, we can insist/force the client to, Interview all or f them (at all !) OR

Even give us an "Interview schedule" (date/time/venue) for all of them right at the outset, even if he agrees/accepts that he will, in due course, interview all of them

There is no way, we can tell a customer, "Either you give me interview date/time/venue for All or for NONE !"

4

It's working fine here. We have already provided "Get More" button in Edit mode in Interview Schedule and Interview Reschedule Transactions. This button can be used to fetch the **candidates added later on in Candidate listings.**

3P

Get more button is available in the edit mode of Interview Schedule/Interview reschedule, but after adding new candidates in module \& subsequently in OES candidate listing/transaction, system allows the user to save the record in this screen. However in the EDIT mode of "Interview Schedule screen", once we click the button "Get More" the candidates (previously added & newly added) are reflected in the screen. Master Menu Screen :-In "Rate Contract Master" the system doesn't allow the user to enter special characters like -' &', \& etc in the "Description Of Contract" field. Since it is a Rate Contract it should allow the user to enter these characters.

Also "Description Of Contract" field have space/character limitation. Kindly increase the no. of characters in this field so that one can enter the details about the rate contract.

Applitech will explore the possibility to increase the field length but Applitech requested to use the system for 1 month and then decide on the field length.

Transaction menu-Interview Schedule / Interview Reschedule:- The email field doesn't accept email Id's like amar.deep@yahoo.co.in, rakesh.ranjan.singh@solutions.apatra.net.in etc. It should definitely provide the option to enter these email Id's

Also in the same screen under the section "Candidate Interview Schedule" which contains a list of candidates & their email Id's are captured in the corresponding email id field. Now if we want to send an email to any of these selected candidates the system should capture the email Id & suppose to send an email. But the system captures the email Id of the candidate listed first by default & sends only an email to this candidate, whose email Id is available first in the list, even if one selects any / many / other candidate from these short listed list. Every time one tries to send an email the system picks-up the default email Id from the list & send the messages. Ideally it should pick up the email id of the candidate selected by the consultant in the check box "e-mail selected"

Problem in First Paragraph is resolved. Work in Second Paragraph is in progress

As for the problem in the 1st paragraph is concerned, we are not in a position to check, because the data are not getting saved in the Interview schedule screen. Please refer to point no. 2 above.
