JAM

  • See enclosed chart
  • Then study the “Job Alert on Mobile” pages of Naukri / Monster / Timesjobs (I believe shine.com also has one).
  • When ready, our own JAM PROCESS FLOW should be as simple or even simpler than those offered by BIG 3.
  • This – very important requirement – should be brought to the notice of Team SiteOnMobile, and they too should feel confident enough to bring about this “simplicity” in our JAM.
  • They should be requested to study JAM application pages of BIG 3.
  • It will be a tough act to “compete” against the BIG 3 (especially if they too are offering FREE service).
  • One redeeming circumstance is that, before our arrival on the JAM scene, the BIG 3 have already done the “concept selling” amongst the jobseekers! We will not need to spend time/money to convince the jobseekers.
  • We will need to figure out where we “score” over them – then emphasize that.
  • They may not – and don’t need to – “aggregate” jobs. For us, it is a dire necessity. How can we turn that into a COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE? Foreign jobs?

Scan_0032.jpg

Title: Factors which are conducive to rapid adoption of JAM on Customize Resume platform. | Date: 23/07/10

Conducive Factors (Mind Map/Chart)

  • Poor Broadband / Internet penetration in smaller towns / rural areas.
  • Dramatic reduction in cost thru Bulk SMS plans for mobile users.
  • Job-Alerts aggregated from various job portals, making JAM a "ONE STOP SHOP" for candidates.
  • Customer Control thru: "Opt-In" // PULL SMS / Anytime - even on move / Apply from mobile without login / No need for PC / Internet connection.
  • Technology Support from HP Lab India thru SiteOnMobile Tasklet.
  • Graphical / Analytical Customized Resume with highlighted keywords.
  • Roll out of 3G Services all over India in next 6 months by 10+ MSPs. Possible introduction of 4G by RIL in 2 years.
  • 600 Million Mobile users base growing at 15/20 millions per month.
  • 30+ Indian Manufacturers of handsets, offering basic sets at Rs. 1000 — expected to fall to Rs. 500 in 2 years.

Unfavourable Factors

  • Naukri / Monster / Timesjobs, all have a FREE job alerts / job apply service on Mobiles for registered candidates.
  • We have no funds to promote our JAM.
  • All 3 have a large database of jobs / candidates / corporate subscribers.
  • Their revenues come totally from their Corporate subscriptions.
  • All "conducive" factors also work for them! — except Graphs / Customization.

Job Alert

  • This has ref. to our recent discussions.
  • I believe "Job Alert" has the potential to generate traffic.
  • Let us try to complete / upload by Saturday.
  • "Job Alert" will have two sides.

Side 1: To display matching jobs from entire database, as soon as candidate completes STAGE 1 of Registration. This will be the same grid/display as in Conv. Job Search / Latest Jobs / Magic Cube Jobsearch.

Side 2: Matching jobs of only jobs downloaded during previous week thru RSS. These will be stored on MY PAGE — but the grid/display to have one more column "Viewed [x]" apart from "Applied [x]". So the candidate can see which jobs he has already "Viewed" — and, therefore need not view again.

Can we store his entire "Job Alert" history forever? If so, he can choose:

  • [UI Mockup Box: Show me job-alerts of: Last week / Last Month / Last Year] -> [Show Button]

This will help in computing his past frequency & figure out his "Likes / Preferences". Weekly email will contain a link to his MY PAGE.

cc: Rohan -> Any Suggestions?
