ALREADY HOSTED AS RESUME SEARCH ARCHIVAL

Search Resume (Pinpoint)

Rajeev
cc: Abhi, Vikram, Rahul

Date: 31-01-06

It will be a long time before 10,000 jobseekers register in IntekRecruiter by filling up “Structured” forms.

This means, for a long time to come, every time an HR manager conducts a “Resume Search (Conventional),” a message will flash:

“Sorry! No matching resumes found.”

He will not return for another try. He will also feel terribly cheated!

What is the use of ₹ Re. 1/- per resume when there are no resumes!

Worse, he will mention his “BAD BAD” experience to colleagues and professionals.
By word of mouth publicity, our reputation will get spoiled forever!

This is something we cannot afford. It could spell the death of Global Recruiter.

I therefore suggest:

For a few months (till we build up a large enough database of Structured Resumes), let us altogether remove “Resume Search (Conventional)”.

Let us offer to HR managers:

“Resume Search (Pinpoint or Sky-Search)” — as shown in the enclosed U/I.

This is possible because, using Gurumine, we have already extracted 118,000 resumes and uploaded them on our server.

While “extracting,” in 99.9% of the cases, we have managed to find values for:

  • Employing Company Name
  • Actual Designation (Current Job)

For “Resume Search (Pinpoint),” these are the only values we need.

These 2 things are enough to convince an HR manager whether the concerned executive’s resume would be worth reading / transferring to folder.

I am sure, in 3P’s database, there must be another 1 to 2 lakh text-format resumes which we can extract using Gurumine and upload.

We keep getting 20,000 resumes DAILY!

Do you foresee any problem?

Do you have any other suggestion?

If not — let us just give this a highest try.

JOB ARCHIVE

Job Archive

Rajeev
cc: Abhi, Vikram, Rahul

Date: 31-01-06

Concept

Google is trying to create an archive of some 7 million books lying in the library of the University of Michigan by digitizing the content of each and every page!

Four other libraries have joined this project.

For copyrighted books, Google has also convinced the authors/publishers by offering them a share of revenue which Google will get from AdWord schemes (like future sharing revenue with music record publishers).

We must create something similar — but on a much smaller scale — by creating a Job Advt. Archive
(of Indian Corporates / Placement Agencies, to begin with).

Execution

We have already made a beginning by downloading some 6 lakh / 8 lakh job adverts during the last 12–14 months.

And these are already in digital form!

Over a period of time, we will add many more job sites for downloading.

But the ultimate source (of adverts) are the corporate employers themselves and the placement agencies.

If we can convince them to upload their past job adverts onto our website, we can even bypass the job sites!

But why should any corporate / placement agency take this trouble — even though all job adverts are public domain knowledge?

No corporate (or agency) wants to take any trouble for public benefit.

But they would, if they can be made to see that by doing so, they will themselves stand to gain.

So how will this (uploading) help them?

  • 1️ Easier Searchability:
  • By archiving all their adverts in one place, these will become easily searchable — by position name, by date, etc.
  • 2️ Field Extraction through Gurumine:
  • In course of time, if Gurumine can extract many other fields from adverts, there can be many more ways to search.
  • 3️ Reusing Past Adverts:
  • They can “construct” a fresh new advert from an old one, by simply editing and then submitting it.
  • 4️ Creation of Organizational Job Description Manuals:
  • Thus helping in manpower planning, job evaluation, salary structuring, etc.

We discussed this in the morning.

Now enclose a webpage design & write-up.

I believe this proposal will help us in marketing IntekRecruiter amongst potential subscribers.

PC QUEST - GUWAHATTI

MAKING INDIA RECRUITER FUN

Making Global Recruiter FUN

Date: 30-01-06

Circulation: Rahul → Vikram → Rajeev → Abhi

Concept Overview

I have a book titled “Dictionary of Dates” — it has one page for each date.

For example:

  • Jan 1
  • Jan 2
  • ...
  • Dec 31

That’s 365 pages in all, one for each day of the year.

On each page, there are 5–15 names of eminent, well-known persons who were born on that date — maybe about 3,000 persons in total (for all 365 days).

I have underlined these names and given them to Pande to create a date-wise database.

Implementation Plan

Then we will write a small piece of software that will do the following:

On the “Submit Resume” page, we ask a candidate to enter his birthdate, as:

BirthDate:

[DD] [MM] [YYYY]

As soon as he enters DD and MM, a popup window will appear as follows:

Dear Rajesh,

Here are some other great persons who were born on your birthdate:

(--- List of names ---)

Some other variations (for additional fun) are possible — which I have mentioned in a separate note (Version 2.0).

Reference & Inspiration

But the purpose of this note is to request you to visit:

and click on:

“Things Other People Accomplished When They Were Your Age.”

Their idea is very similar — or rather, our idea is very similar to theirs.

But it is a lot of FUN!

If we succeed in incorporating our idea on Global Recruiter,

we could expect candidates (registering) to start talking to their friends — even asking them to come/visit and try out.

We may succeed in creating a BUZZ!

And if we can get an API to link up with the database of

that would really set our site apart!

Once we implement our idea, Rahul should approach this website and request for the API.

Making Global Recruiter FUN

A.      Note to Abhi

B.      Date: 10-01-06

The online “Games” market is exploding — both on PCs and on mobile phones (apart from devices like Xbox, PlayStation, etc., which are exclusively devoted to games). Most of these are video/image-based games.

Whereas I am unable to conceptualize a video-type game on Global Recruiter,
I do see a clear possibility of a text-based game, by modifying our “Submit Resume” page (as shown in the annex),

and adding a database/search software in the background (created from an enclosed book, Dictionary of Dates).

Human beings like to compare themselves with others —

especially very ordinary human beings.

like to compare themselves with famous / extraordinary / celebrity persons. Like benchmarking.

Even if the only thing / aspect that they can compare / benchmark is

– Birth Date (day / month)

– Birth year

(eg. I was born in the same year as Helen Keller!)

Or that was the year in which Albert Einstein fled to USA!

I have a feeling that modifying “Submit Resume” form, as shown, would “vastly differentiate” our form from similar forms on thousands of websites.

It will be FUN and it will set us apart!

All “Submit Resume” forms, on all job sites are SO BORING!

By making the form interactive, we will make it interesting!

In course of time, following new features can be added:

New Person-Name being suggested by candidates

→ Also type, what was he/she famous for?

How many candidates registered on GR network share the same birthdate / same birth year — without revealing identity — just the “No.”

Clicking on FAMOUS Person’s name enters into Google Search bar & displays search results.

Who (which registered candidate) suggested whose (which famous person’s) names? Giving CREDIT for suggestions.

Name of Famous Person

P / N / Y

Name of Suggestor

Turning this into a blog.

→ Adding names / birthdays of friends / relatives to send campaign birthday greeting messages, which says,

Dear ________,

Happy Birthday.

As you know,

Besides you, other great / famous persons who were born on this day are:

There is no doubt, someday your achievements will compare with theirs and others will take inspiration from you.

GLOBAL RECRUITER FILE -DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME

cc: Rajeev / Abhi

Rahul:
29-01-06

Don’t Waste Your Time

During last one year, we must have downloaded close to 60,000 / 1,00,000 job-adverts. From each, we have also extracted

Job Advertiser’s name

City (which is not to be confused with “Posting City”)

E-mail ID

It is a simple process to arrange all of these job-advertisers (ultimate employers or placement agencies) in the

→ “Descending order of the no. of job-adverts.”

Once upon a time, Abhi had done this and found 49,800 job-advertisers. Beyond this, this figure could have reached 50,000.

If we carry out an ABC Analysis of this database, we will find that:

10% of top advertisers must have contributed to 80% of the job-adverts.

i.e.,
5,000 advertisers must have contributed close to 5 lakh / 6 lakh ads.

These are the MOST FREQUENT advertisers.

Therefore, these 5,000 will contribute maximum revenue for the entire Global Recruiter network.

For us, at RecruITfinium, it does not matter whether a major job-advertiser registers with partner website A or partner website B.

In either case, our revenue (20% share) will remain same.

But, it makes a big difference to the concerned partner himself. His revenue gets decided by which advertiser he manages to rope in as a subscriber.

So, all partners can be expected to put up a fierce fight to capture major advertisers.

Now imagine 15 / 20 / 30 partner websites, all chasing WIPRO / L&T / VOLTAS / RELIANCE, etc. to register on their respective websites.

All offering identical services / identical prices.

Nothing to differentiate one from another.

(Since our webservices remain the same to subscribers of all partners.)

But the result would be great ANNOYANCE / IRRITATION on part of these major advertisers to be chased by 20 websites offering identical service for identical price — no more!

We must find a way to “minimize” this annoyance / irritation — although, we cannot eliminate it altogether.

With this in mind, I have devised enclosed webpage, which partners can access through login.

Of course, “would-be” partners could also see / view this tabulation — except for the last column, viz:

  • Name of Partner Website, where registered as subscriber.

This column can only be viewed by existing partners when they login.

The idea behind showing the rest of the database to “would-be” partners is to attract them / motivate them to become partners.

This database gives them a clear idea of the MARKET SIZE of online recruitment business. If they are made to realize that there is a HUGE online recruitment market, they would feel like joining GR.

On the other hand, an actual / existing partner would, hopefully, stop chasing an advertiser, if he finds that this party has already been “booked” — so why waste time?

Initially, of course, all partners can be expected to chase all major advertisers.
Let this happen.

Amongst the major advertisers, such multiple approaches / offers would create a strong BRAND-AWARENESS of Global Recruiter.

In effect, the partners would be “marketing” Global Recruiter — which is good for us.

But once any one partner succeeds in booking a major advertiser as his subscriber, two things should happen immediately and automatically, viz:

  1. An email goes out to all partners that
  2. “Partner XYZ has booked corporate ABC as a subscriber.”
  3. This is, therefore, to request you all to stop chasing this corporate for subscription.
  4. On our “Don’t Waste Your Time” webpage,
  5. the database gets automatically updated — insertion of that partner’s name in the last column, against the name of that advertiser.

Now, even if a partner does not remember / recall that email (or if it never reached), even then any partner can log in to this page at any time and find out:

Which corporates are already “booked”

Which corporates are still “available”

This knowledge will help them focus their attention / effort on “available / free” corporates.

Even if they have sent a proposal / offer to that corporate, they will stop chasing him in future — based on this knowledge.

The data in the “No. of Jobs in our Database” (for each & every advertiser — whether he is already ‘booked’ or he is ‘free’) must still get updated every day on a continuous basis, whether the jobs:

were downloaded by our spider, or

were posted on GR network directly by a subscriber / advertiser.

Considering that Rajeev is developing

(1) Jobsearch – Archival way

(2) Job Post –

Such ongoing / daily updation of jobs database should not be a problem.

(Signature)

Email Column & Name of Partner column

Following message to appear when these columns are blank:

“Data will be displayed when you login.”

Once a genuine partner logs in, these messages will get replaced by actual data.

How can we possibly populate the screen with 50,000 records — all at one go?

Scrolling such a huge droplist may pose severe problems.

Shall we display as:

1–5000 | 5001–10000 | 10001–15000 | ...

Sr

Job Advertiser

City

Email

No. of Ads

Since each subset database is also arranged in descending order of “No. of Jobs in our database,” chances are most partners would not go beyond the first list of 5,000.

Clicking on an email ID should open Outlook Express from where a partner may send promotional / marketing email messages to that corporate. “To” & “From” should get filled up automatically.

JAS CAMPAIGN

Melissa
cc: Rahul / Reema / Vithal / Parekh

27-01-06

JAS: Job Advt. Summary

(for printing by Newspapers)

Since you have managed to

1️ follow-up this matter with the editors meticulously and

2️ establish a personal “rapport” with these (very) senior persons through your persuasive style,

I would like you to continue with this good work in future.

The newspapers/publications should be segregated into following separate files/folders:

#1
Those who have already “registered” (online or offline – team FAX) and to whom we are already sending daily email (LEXCEU) JAS.

As soon as each offline “fax” registration is received, same should be handed over to Rahul to take following action:

a) to upload registration details from the backend and start daily emails

b) to upload name of publication on our FREE CONTENT page (WWW) under link “Already Publishing”

You should check with Rahul that the JAS emails have started going. Then check (by phoning) with publication contact persons whether he has started receiving regularly. If he faces any problems, get Rahul to speak to him over phone & sort out the problem.

Find out (gently insist) as to whether they expect to start printing.

I forgot one VERY IMPORTANT step!!

As soon as you receive a faxed registration (or even an online reg.), you must fax/courier (both) our STANDARD TEMPLATE, according to which the newspaper should carry-out actual printing.

The reason this (step) is important is —

hat many newspapers are NOT giving/providing enough space at the bottom for

(a small hand-drawn box illustration appears here showing the layout)

---------------------------------------

|                                     |

|                                     |

|  Instructions                       |

|                      www.World-Wide-Jobs.com  ← "credit/source"

---------------------------------------

This defeats our sole purpose behind giving daily FREE content, viz:

Free Publicity for WWJ.

Instructions must be readable, and our Website URL must be in as large fonts as possible — so that it gets noticed by jobseekers and so that at least some jobseekers are tempted to log in to WWJ & find out more — and hopefully register as well!

This is our ultimate goal/objective in trying to get 400 newspapers around the country to start printing JAS every day.

Viz:

200 million readers (of these 400 newspapers) must get to see, day after day — after day — our brand

World-Wide-Jobs.com

so that, someday, our brand becomes even more well-known than Coca-Cola!

This is why we must repeatedly (but gently) persuade newspapers to use a larger font. They will resist our “request” — but we have to persevere.

Every month, we should phone/email and ask them to send us (through courier) latest printing of JAS, so that we can monitor/keep track of the font-size being used.

This is also the reason why the sentence highlighted in the enclosed page should be in larger fonts & made bold.

By couriering them our TEMPLATE, we can insist that they religiously follow the same. We should point out any deviation made to save space.

#3
Those newspapers to whom we are about to fax our proposal

Based on Vithal/Pande’s database, Reena has planned to send out emails + to fax to some 500 newspapers — most likely on Monday (30th Jan).

All of these will require phoning, 3/4 days after fax is sent. Besides trying to find out whether they have received our fax or not, you should also use this opportunity to systematically compile following info during your phone call:

  • What are correct phone no. / fax no.
  • What is correct email ID
  • Who is the “Contact Person” & his/her designation
  • What is the direct no. / mobile no. of the contact person / his email ID / his personal fax no.
  • Correct postal address etc.

Maybe you can write down these info into a photocopied FORM (with name of publication in bold at the top), even as you are talking/asking questions.

Of course, if you order some good quality headphone (ask Reena) and have MASTER PUBLICATION DATABASE on your PC, you may be able to enter such details/corrections directly into the database, without having to write each one.

But, for some reason, if you cannot help writing down on a form, then after your phone call, you can handover the forms to Pande to edit the database immediately.

In the enclosed file, you’ll find that I was making/entering my “remarks” (after each telephonic attempt to contact) on a piece of paper, mentioning date etc.

I was forced to follow this 50-year-old method because I don’t know how to use a computer!

But I am sure this cannot be the case with you. I believe you are well-versed with the use of computers and you should avoid all these laborious/manual entries on pieces of paper.

You should use one of the simpler “Project Management Softwares” — (I am told MS Office already has such a software built in) or what they call

PIM = Personal Information Management Software

or a Contact Mgmt Software.

Any one of which Reena/Rajita can find for you.

With your dedication — and help from Reena, Vithal, Pande, Rajita, Rahul —

I have no doubt you would convince 400 newspapers to start printing JAS by end of 2006!

Good Luck!
