INDUSTRY VS. COMPANY NAME VS. PRODUCT / SERVICES

We uploaded this database / search engine some 3 years ago. We compiled the data by manually entering info - from KOMPASS directory. I believe, we covered some 22000 companies.

In many cases, this data has become obsolete. In many cases, it is altogether "missing". There are many "duplicate" entries. All-in-all, it is of not much use to a Surfer.

Now, we are in the process of ordering a CD-ROM of Companies Directory, published by DEPT. OF COMPANY AFFAIRS (DCA).

This is March 2000 Version. March 2001 will come out after 6 months.

It contains info / data on 5.5 lakh "Registered" Companies of India. Maybe close to 60,000 are PUBLIC LIMITED COS. Rest are "PRVT LTD" / PARTNERSHIP /

PROPRIETARY / GOVT-PUBLIC SECTOR COS. etc.

Each record carries Unique "Registration No." $\&$ "Registration Date."

Each Company is classified under a INDUSTRY ACTIVITY CLASSIFICATION

Each Company's database comprises

• "Product / Services" offered by the Company
• Full Name / Contact Info (Add / ph / fax - and in some cases, e-mail address)
• "Parent Group" Name.

Apparently the DCA search-engine seems to be very similar to our online search-engine.

I propose

• we delete our existing KOMPASS database
• upload DCA database of 5.5 L COS.

This will make our offering / our feature

• Authentic / Accurate
• Update / truthful
• massive

I also propose that, on an ongoing basis, we automatically pick-up "Industry / Product / Co-Name" Info from

• all "job-advts" getting posted on our website
• all "shopping-baskets"

If "Products / Services" field is missing, in these forms, let us add these.

Then, we can also tell the recruiters that, anytime they send / post a "job-advt" or send a "shopping-basket", we will pick-up their company data $\&$ migrate to "Industry Vs. Company Vs. Product" database $\&$ GIVE THEM FREE PUBLICITY.

However, we have no resources to

• edit existing database
• add new Companies / products / Industry.

Soon, we propose to also introduce a

(b) "POST YOUR CORPORATE PROFILE" FORM where, we would ask for same info.

We would like a feature, whereby such data is extracted automatically from (a) $\&$ (b) and used to regularly / automatically update our searchable database of INDUSTRY Vs. COMPANY Vs. PRODUCTS.

• So far this database is freely available / accessible to anyone. In future, we would like to restrict this to MEMBERS only - whether Individual or Corporate.
• But we must enable them to get a "GLIMPSE" so that they are "tempted" to become members.
