Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

With regards,

MATCH MAKER ( MM )

FUNCTIONAL  SPECIFICATIONS
28   Feb  2008
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rahul  /  Shalaka / Shubhangi / Poonam :

*  MM will be an ONLINE tool which can be freely downloaded from our web site and also from other web sites such as Download.com
*  It should be a small tool ( 4 / 5 Mb ), with dot net framework which can be either embedded into the tool or will get automatically downloaded on user's harddisk, without his being aware
*  A person who has downloaded MM ( from anywhere ),should be able to email it to any no of people
*  After downloading, MM will get " activated " only after the User ,
#  uploads his text resume into the tool
#  selects his " Primary Function / Skill " ( any one only ) , from the drop-lists in the ACTIVATE page
#  selects " date " of activation from calendar
   (  It is quite possible that the " No of Tools Activated " may far exceed the " No of tools downloaded " , due to copying / emailing )
#  Upon activation , our server will,
   >  assign a unique " User No " to that user
   >  store his text resume as well as his " Function/Skill " selection against
       this " User No "
   >  In course of time , when we develop a robust " Parsing " software , we
       will parse the text resume and store all personal data about that user
       into a database
#   There should be a facility for the user to edit his ,
    >  Text resume
    >  Function / Skill , selected earlier
     when he does , our database too will get updated simultaneously

#  By comparing with our Server Database , MM will find / extract the Keywords from the text resume ( for the Function / Skill earlier selected by that user ) , and
calculate the Raw Score , as per the Weightage assigned to each keyword
This will be stored ( semi-permanently )
Of Course , this will change if User edits text resume at anytime
#  Working like MYRIAD , MM will extract the job advts behind each link on a job-search page
Unfortunately, a job-search page contains many links other than job advts links
In fact, non job-advt links far exceed the job advt links !
For our purpose , we have to avoid / ignore / eliminate , these non jobadvt links
MYRIAD has provision for user to select , values from
*  " FROM LINK " drop list
*  " TO LINK " drop list
This adds one manual intervention / selection . It would be ideal if we could avoid this . If not , we follow the same procedure
#  Once the job advts hiding behind the job advt links are " harvested " ( usually 10 to 50 per page ) , MM will try to find Function / Skill related Keywords - " relevant " to that candidate's resume - and COMPUTE the SCORE
#  MATCH INDEX can be calculated as per a tabulation of :
*  Column 1............. Advt Number ( 1 , 2 , 3 etc )
*  Column 2.............. Raw Score of Job Advt ( 32, 45 , 61  etc )
*  Column 3............... Raw Score of Text Resume ( 60 , 60 , 50 )
*  Column 4............... Match Index ( 32/60 ; 45 / 60 : 62 / 60 )
*  Column 5 ............  % Percentage ( 52 % / 33 % / 102 % )
The advts will then get displayed in the descending order of % , as shown below  tabulation :
*  Column 1........ Advt No
*  Column 2........ Advertise Company Names
*  Column 3 .......  Position / Vacancy Name
*  Column 4.......  Posting City Name
*  Column 5 ........ Match Index ( 102 / 52 / 33 etc )
*  Column 6........ Select ( Check Boxes )
May be we should try to extract the email ID from eacj job advt ( if given in the advt )
Naukri  provides email IDs but Monster / Timesjobs / Jobsdb etc do not
We should not display the email Ids in the tabulation
#  Select ( tick in Check Box ) , will open that job advt . After reading , candidate can decide to " Apply Online " and click relevant button
Of course , this would require him to earlier deposit his resume on that job site
This would also require that , before starting the job search , he would need to log in as a " Registered User "
#  As of now , I am unable to think of a foolproof method which will allow a user to ,
>  " Apply Online " against any job advt in Naukri , but with his PROFILES developed on our web site ( - not the text resume deposited in Naukri )
If we can pull this off , it would have a great marketing advantage !
You may consider the following possibility :
*  We also display email ID of the job advertisers in the search results table
If a candidate decides to click on any email Id ( of a job advt ) , then our software picks up that email ID and inserts it in
RESUME  COURIER
A candidate , then , can surf pages after pages of Naukri job search results ( displayed in descending order in MM )
From each page , he may click on 1/2/3 email IDs , which keep getting accumulated in into our RESUME COURIER
When he has gone through 24 pages ( of job search results ) and selected ( say ) 43 job advts worth applying , he moves to RESUME COURIER page , logs in ( with his User Id / Password ) and clicks SUBMIT
At one go , our RESUME COURIER software will pick up his PROFILES and forward it ( with appropriate covering letter , similar to what I have given for Resume Blast ) to all 43 advertisers !
As against this , should he decide to click open each select job advt on Naukri and decide to " Apply Online " ,
>  he can only send his " text " resume
>  he will need to click " Apply Online " 43 times !
This seems such a great idea , if it can be successfully executed !
We are giving the candidate , a far superior option , but , we are not forcing him to register on our web site
Once again , MM will " market " IndiaRecruiter.net in a very subtle fashion - and very indirectly
If a job advt does not contain email Id , a candidate can always click ( check box ) to apply online with his text resume
In fact , this will be the case , with most of the web sites - since these do not display the email Ids
Another bye-product ( of candidate applying through RESUME COURIER method ) :
We will be able to compile a very comprehensive " APPLICATION HISTORY " of each user candidate as shown in a tabulation as below :
CANDIDATE NAME :........  Unique No ............... Activation Date :...........
Col 1......... Serial No
Col 2......... Date Applied
Col 3........  Company Name
Col 4........ Vacancy Name
Col 5........ Posting City
Col 6........ Match Index
Col 7........ Response ( can be entered by candidate )

We can make available such HISTORY to a registered candidate in his own ,
ADMIN PAGE,
where he can then fill up " Response Details " in the last column , on his own , at any time
In the above tabulation , may be we can even provide a column for the job advertiser's email Id
By clicking on this email Id , Outlook will open and the candidate can send a REMINDER to that job advertiser , to inquire about his application !
This could be a great " Follow Up " tool for the candidate
He does not even need to remember to WHOM he has applied , WHEN and for WHAT position !
Let us do this !
